Popular NPC in a Gender-Reversed Game-Chapter 97: Melee
[Yor has appeared..!]
“To all of you in the subjugation force, now is not the time to sleep! Log in immediately!
I need to recover my losses by earning rewards!!!
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry!!!”
[Why is this guy so desperate? What's going on?]
[ㄴ Seriously, what’s this about in the morning?]
[Whoa, he’s still alive? He managed to survive in there for a whole month?]
[ㄴ Honestly, seeing this, I have to admit he’s impressive...]
[Now’s not the time for chatter; log in! He hasn’t been around long, but the knights are already in chaos!]
[ㄴ Isn’t it a bit much for him to attack in the morning when everyone’s sleeping?]
[ㄴ Lol, but it’s fine for hundreds of knights to gang up on him?]
Morning broke early, but the community buzzed with unprecedented noise, entirely out of sync with the calm dawn.
The reason? Yor had suddenly appeared.
Players assumed he’d either died somewhere or remained hidden, never expecting him to launch a surprise attack like this.
As a result, the Otherworlders scrambled to log into the game. Some struggled with the reality of having to go to work or were too groggy from sleep to connect right away.
[I’m near the forest. Who are those people gathered at the entrance?]
There are quite a few of them...
By then, Chaerin Yoo’s party was also heading toward the forest.
The sole male knight commander, and the now slightly disheveled leader of the 4th Knights Division, surveyed the chaotic state of the knights’ camp and let out a small sigh.
‘...This is bad.’
Despite praying for a peaceful morning °• N 𝑜 v 𝑒 l i g h t •° in this weather, the last thing he expected was for that guy to show up now.
They’d been completely caught off guard.
Unlike the others, however, Railley had taken some precautions.
He knew that an attack by monsters during their slumber could lead to catastrophic consequences.
He had assigned night guards to rotate shifts, ensuring the camp was never defenseless. Additionally, a standby unit was prepared to respond immediately in case a powerful beast appeared.
These arrangements were meant to buy time for the other knights to don their armor and ready themselves. For this purpose, he had positioned knights with exceptional defensive skills, capable of holding their ground even if deep-dwelling monsters attacked.
Yet...
‘To think it’d be breached this quickly.’
There were likely many reasons. The month-long camping had probably made them complacent, and last night’s rain might have worn them out.
Perhaps the early morning timing left their bodies sluggish, and the fog now engulfing their vision only worsened things.
But these were secondary factors.
The real issue was that the enemy was far stronger than anticipated.
The standby knights he had stationed were strong enough to withstand multiple charges from mutated boars. Even if monsters from the depths attacked, they were expected to hold the line long enough for the others to prepare.
Yet these knights had been overrun in mere minutes.
Now, Yor was rampaging through the tents like an enraged boar, tearing through the camp with reckless abandon.
It was as if he were avenging the humiliation he’d suffered a month ago when the knights had relentlessly pursued him.
Knights still scrambling to put on their armor were helpless against him.
‘This can’t go on.’
Quickly grabbing his gear, Railley armed himself and stepped outside. Screams of knights echoed from all directions.
He moved toward the loudest commotion.
While the opponent was strong, he wasn’t too worried yet.
Based on their last encounter, he was confident he could handle Yor alone.
His swordsmanship was leagues ahead, and though Yor was quick, his attacks were entirely predictable.
With the holy water he had prepared, Railley believed he was more than ready.
Spotting Yor, the 4th Knight Commander immediately swung his sword.
Clang!
Sensing danger, Yor raised his spear just in time to block the attack. Once again, Railley marveled at his exceptional reaction speed.
“You won’t rampage any further.”
Railley delivered what he thought was a cool one-liner, but Yor simply smirked and subtly stepped back.
“We’ll settle this another time.”
With those words, Yor turned and bolted. It was an unexpected response for Railley, who had been anticipating a duel.
“What?!”
Railley tried to give chase but quickly lost sight of Yor in the dense fog.
“Argh!”
Another knight’s scream broke the silence.
‘What the...’
Railley swallowed a curse.
Having evaded the knight commander, I continued targeting the knights. To me, it was the obvious choice.
‘Fighting that guy right now? No way.’
While I might have the upper hand for now, the overall situation wasn’t in my favor.
I was alone, while they had over a hundred knights and countless Otherworlders.
Numbers couldn’t be ignored. Even if each of them swung their swords only once, that was hundreds of attacks.
If our revered Mountain Lord couldn’t handle that many strikes, how could someone like me, who’d beaten him through trickery, stand a chance?
This was the time to inflict as much damage as possible while I had the advantage.
There was no reason to waste time facing the knight commander head-on.
So I resumed sending knights to dreamland.
Soon, however, fully armored knights began appearing.
Gone were the drowsy, half-dressed women; in their place stood warriors with resolute gazes.
“There he is!”
“Don’t let him rampage any longer!”
Unlike before, the knights weren’t organized into their usual five-member squads.
While some were grouped, most rushed out individually, weapons in hand.
The chaos left no room for formations or strategy. In other words, it was now a free-for-all.
And in such disarray, someone like me had the upper hand.
Swords pointed my way, but I ignored them and charged at the knights.
“Attack!”
Whoosh!
Multiple swords swung toward me. Dodging two or three was possible, but evading them all was out of the question.
In that split second, I had two options: retreat to avoid the attacks or push forward and endure the blows.
My instincts chose the latter. I observed the incoming blades, shifted to avoid vital areas, and allowed the strikes to land.
Slash!
Sharp pain shot through me, and I grimaced momentarily.
But my body, unfazed, was already preparing a counterattack. The knights had used their turn to strike, and now it was mine.
I swung my spear in a wide arc.
“Ugh!”
“Argh!”
Knights crumpled like fallen leaves, their armor splitting and blood spilling. The intensity of the battle left me no choice but to fight more aggressively.
‘At least they won’t die from that.’
The Otherworlders also joined the fray.
Hearing about the battle, they had logged in hastily, determined to claim rewards.
“Argh!”
Unlike the knights, I didn’t hesitate to take them out permanently.
They had no backing, and since they’d respawn, there was no reason to spare them. Thankfully, the “Player’s Eye” made them easy to distinguish.
“Gather up! Don’t scatter; reduce casualties!”
As time passed, the fog began to lift, likely due to the sheer number of people moving and the warming daylight.
Knights who had managed to regroup cursed under their breath as they surveyed the scene.
“Damn it...”
“Of all mornings, why this?”
Knights lay sprawled everywhere, looking like corpses. In just over an hour, I had taken down more than a third of them.
But there were still dozens of knights and an endless stream of Otherworlders logging in.
‘I need to inflict maximum damage before they regroup.’

Avoiding drawn-out battles with organized forces was the key. While I could retreat later if necessary, ending this here was ideal. I missed the comfort of my cave.
“Attack him! Stay together!”
And so, I resumed targeting stragglers and small clusters of knights.
Suddenly, a distant presence caught my attention.
It wasn’t just me; others noticed it too.
“Wait, who’s running this way?”
The voice belonged to an Otherworlder taking screenshots.
“Reinforcements?”
“No... something’s off!”
It was indeed reinforcements—but for me.
Ahead of the group, I spotted Chaerin Yoo and Im Haneul.
Chaerin waved and shouted upon seeing me.
“We’re here!”
I smirked. Now the numbers were starting to even out.
“...You’ve got to be kidding me.”
Meanwhile, the knight commander’s face darkened.
