Chapter 151: Chapter 151 Love at First Sight

"Sister Yun, it’s so hot."

Zhou Jin’an had been soaking in the bathtub for half an hour, and when he got out, his body was icy cold, but his face was burning red.

Qiao En was surprised, reaching out to touch his forehead.

Indeed, he had a high fever.

"You put on your clothes first, I’ll take you to the hospital."

She helped him get dressed.

But Zhou Jin’an was not cooperating at all, "I’m so sleepy, I want to sleep."

His body kept leaning backward.

It took Qiao En the strength of nine bulls and two tigers to get the clothes on him.

She called Cheng Lu, who was on his way back to Rong City.

"Director Zhou has a fever? How did he suddenly get sick?"

Cheng Lu asked in surprise.

But Qiao En didn’t say anything. Zhou Jin’an, who was now dressed, felt nothing but cold and refused to come out from under the blankets no matter what.

Qiao En had no choice but to wait for Cheng Lu to arrive.

One hour later, Cheng Lu arrived.

He was strong and forcibly helped Zhou Jin’an up; the two of them, one on each side, escorted him out the door.

In the hospital.

Zhou Jin’an was quickly put on a drip.

"The doctor said Director Zhou caught a cold, what happened?"

Cheng Lu asked again.

Qiao En did not tell the truth; it wasn’t convenient for her to talk about that kind of thing with Cheng Lu.

"He doesn’t sleep properly at night and always kicks off the covers."

Qiao En lied.

Cheng Lu gave her a deep look, his eyes hiding blame, "Director Zhou hasn’t recovered completely; he can’t catch a cold."

"Understood."

Zhou Jin’an was asleep, and Qiao En stayed in the ward all the time to accompany him during his infusion.

Cheng Lu was busy with work; his phone wouldn’t stop ringing. When the phone rang, he would step out of the ward.

Coming and going, never resting.

Qiao En hadn’t expected that Chen Yin would show up at the hospital.

"Assistant Cheng, sorry to bother you, but these documents are urgent and need Director Zhou’s review and signature."

She hurried towards the ward with a stack of files in her arms.

Qiao En was sitting in the chair beside Zhou Jin’an’s hospital bed; she didn’t have time to get up.

As Chen Yin entered, she spotted Qiao En at first glance.

"What are you doing here?"

Her suspicious eyes turned to Qiao En.

"Good to see you, Secretary Chen."

Qiao En didn’t answer; she got up to walk outside, "I’m going to get some water for Director Zhou."

Qiao En took the water bottle and left.

Inside the ward, Chen Yin couldn’t hide her annoyance. She looked at Cheng Lu, puzzled, "Assistant Cheng, what exactly is Xu Yayun’s relationship with Director Zhou? Wasn’t she fired by him? Why is she here?"

Cheng Lu’s eyes darkened; he wasn’t planning to tell everything.

"It’s Director Zhou’s arrangement; both you and I understand that we shouldn’t ask questions that we shouldn’t."

They were the ones closest to Zhou Jin’an and were not in a position to second-guess his decisions.

Chen Yin was usually composed, but at that moment, she appeared unsettled.

"But she’s a newcomer; does Director Zhou understand her? We should be more cautious about some things." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Chen Yin reminded him from the perspective of a secretary, with good intentions.

Cheng Lu, however, disagreed, issuing an order for her to leave.

"I will show these documents to Director Zhou when he wakes up; you go back first. I will bring them to the office later for you."

But Chen Yin stayed put.

"I want to wait for Director Zhou to wake up."

"Secretary Chen, do you know what you’re doing?"

Cheng Lu’s brows furrowed, and his voice rose a few notches, sounding somewhat angry.

"You don’t need to remind me; I’m aware," Chen Yin retorted.

Just then, Qiao En returned with the water.

She had gone out to avoid a confrontation with Chen Yin, but the other party was unwilling to let it go and insisted on a showdown.

"Xu Yayun, come out for a moment; I have something to ask you."

Chen Yin said as she walked outside.

Qiao En put down the water bottle and obediently walked out, but Cheng Lu grabbed her arm, "Don’t say what you shouldn’t."

"Yes."

Qiao En answered and walked toward Chen Yin, who was standing by the windowsill in the corridor.

"Secretary Chen, do you have something to say?"

Qiao En asked with neither servility nor overbearance.

Chen Yin crossed her arms, her face filled with displeasure, "What are you to Director Zhou now?"

The usual itinerary for Zhou Jin’an was always arranged by her, she knew exactly who he had seen and what he had done.

But since the accident with Zhou Jin’an last time, Chen Yin knew nothing about Zhou Jin’an’s affairs.

Even, she no longer had the opportunity to get close to Zhou Jin’an.

The ordinary-looking woman, Xu Yayun, however, suddenly became the favored one by Zhou Jin’an’s side, receiving his favor.

"Secretary Chen, like you, I am being paid to work for someone, though the nature of the job differs, the essence is the same," Qiao En said with a calm gaze toward Chen Yin.

She saw a thick jealousy in her eyes.

In Qiao En’s memory, Chen Yin wasn’t this kind of person; she worked quietly and kept a low profile, never vying for anything with anybody.

Time changes, and it changes people’s hearts too, or maybe, it reveals their true feelings.

"Heh."

Chen Yin let out a cold laugh.

"I’m different from you. I am Director Zhou’s chief secretary by right and speech, but what about you, Xu Yayun? Are you clear about what you are?"

This cold laugh, like a slap, landed directly on Qiao En’s face.

"Of course I’m clear, it’s just that Secretary Chen isn’t. If Secretary Chen has nothing else, I need to go take care of Director Zhou." Qiao En said, turning around and walking toward Zhou Jin’an’s hospital room.

Chen Yin was very angry and she actually followed.

"Director Zhou does not need your care; there are nurses here. What qualifies you, a mere janitor, to take care of Director Zhou?"

She pursued Qiao En to the door, pressing her aggressively.

But just then, Zhou Jin’an in the bed woke up.

His deep, piercing eyes cut through the air like blades toward Chen Yin.

Her gaze halted, she pushed past Qiao En, and quickly walked toward Zhou Jin’an.

"Director Zhou, you’re awake?"

After so long, she finally had the chance to face Zhou Jin’an directly.

Yet, to her disappointment, Zhou Jin’an’s attention moved from her to Qiao En.

"Sister Yun, come here."

He beckoned to Qiao En.

Chen Yin was stunned, her mouth hanging open wide, unable to close it for a moment.

Zhou Jin’an was actually calling that woman Sister Yun.

And with such a tender, doting tone.

The two of them...

She dared not think further, but couldn’t help it either.

Impossible, Chen Yin’s mind immediately conjured a denial.

That woman was way too ordinary; she was no match for the tall, handsome, and wealthy Zhou Jin’an in any aspect.

"You two..."

Chen Yin wanted to ask, but she couldn’t get the words out.

But Zhou Jin’an looked rather pleased, "Didn’t you want to know our relationship? I will tell you then, Sister Yun is my girlfriend, and I fell in love with her at first sight."

That statement stirred up a maelstorm.

Qiao En was stunned; she hadn’t expected Zhou Jin’an to spout such nonsense in front of others again.

Chen Yin was also stunned; she hadn’t expected Zhou Jin’an to fancy such an ordinary woman.

She suspiciously scrutinized Qiao En, noting her slightly plump figure, average appearance, the scar on her forehead, and her silly-looking hairstyle.

"If there’s nothing else, you can go. I still need to rest," Zhou Jin’an issued the eviction order.

This time, there was no chance for Chen Yin to remain.

Her face varied between shades of green and red, "Director Zhou, then you take care to rest."

Like a general who had lost the battle, Chen Yin retreated from Zhou Jin’an’s hospital room.

"Why would you say that?"

Now it was Qiao En’s turn to be angry.

She had warned him not to babble on without her permission in front of others.

"Sister Yun, are you angry again?"

Zhou Jin’an batted his innocent eyes and gazed affectionately at Qiao En.

"I like Sister Yun, I just like Sister Yun. Don’t you like that I like you?"

"Stop it!"

Qiao En made a gesture to halt.

"Zhou Jin’an, don’t forget, you are only eight years old, and I am already twenty-five. I won’t accept the affections of a little brat."

The air went quiet at that moment.
