Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Going Crazy with You

Qiao En’s spine shivered, the familiar voice instinctively making her want to escape.

But at the critical moment, Qiao En forced herself to calm down.

"Who are you?"

She turned around, her eyes cold and defiant, looking at Ding Hao.

He wore a white lab coat, holding a small bottle of alcohol, his face still as handsomely exquisite as ever, his peach-blossom eyes squinting as he scrutinized Qiao En.

As their eyes met, Qiao En’s heart felt somewhat perturbed.

On her wedding day, she had escaped in such a manner, completely disregarding Ding Hao’s feelings.

After leaving, she had never thought of him again.

However, seeing him today, he seemed to be doing quite well.

"I am a doctor here, what are you doing here?"

Ding Hao, his cold eyes teasing, took a small sip of alcohol and pursed his lips at Qiao En.

Qiao En rolled her eyes at him, "So you’re a doctor, big deal? Do I need to report to you if I want to lose weight by taking the stairs? Is this hospital owned by your family? Can’t I walk without your permission?"

Her Mandarin was awkward and sharp, her words stinging as they tumbled out one after the other like a string of firecrackers, leaving Ding Hao completely stumped.

After her tirade, she didn’t wait for Ding Hao to react, instead, she pushed past him and continued down the stairs.

Ding Hao’s back hit the wall.

"Qiao En?"

He suddenly called out.

For some reason, in that moment, he felt that this woman had some similarities to Qiao En.

He shook his head; the woman in front of him was nothing like Qiao En at all.

Qiao En was slim, always dressed appropriately, pursuing an office lady style.

But the woman in front of him was wearing plus-size women’s clothing, wore no makeup, and had a scar on her forehead; her speech was rude, not resembling Qiao En in the least.

Qiao En held onto the handrail as she walked downstairs, feeling a chill.

"Who is Qiao En? Call out like that again, and I’ll call the police, you sick pervert!"

Qiao En cursed, her voice very rough.

Ding Hao laughed, tilting his head back to gulp down a large mouthful of alcohol.

"I’m just calling a dead person, not you, don’t flatter yourself!"

While he was speaking, his phone rang, someone had made a WeChat video call to him.

"Baby, missing me already? Didn’t I tell you? I’m on night shift tonight. Ah, don’t come over, if you do, I might not be able to resist, I’ll just want to do you..."

He dragged his feet, walking back upstairs, chatting flirtatiously with the woman on the phone.

Listening to this, Qiao En’s tensed heart gradually relaxed.

She had felt guilty about Ding Hao, but now, seeing him moving on and starting anew, she found some relief.

That night, Qiao En slept in Rong City.

A dreamless night brought her extra peace.

The next morning, she took a bus to Nanchen. He Peng greeted her, and as soon as she arrived, someone led her directly to the executive office floor.

"Sister Fang, take her with you."

The cleaning department’s manager handed Qiao En over to an older person and left.

This was a place Qiao En was most familiar with, and Sister Fang was someone she knew well.

Revisiting the old place, her heart was filled with emotions, but she put on an expression of a newcomer.

"Sister Fang, thank you for your hard work."

Sister Fang was kind, not much of a talker, but was diligent. When Qiao En had first arrived at the secretary office, Sister Fang had taken good care of her.

"Xu, don’t be afraid, I started as a newbie too. Follow me these days, I’ll teach you. You’re young, you’ll catch on quickly."

Sister Fang explained briefly to Qiao En.

The cleanliness of the executive office floor was held to a higher standard than other areas.

As a newcomer, Qiao En was tasked with cleaning the meeting room and the tea room, while Sister Fang was still responsible for the office cleanliness.

With Zhou Jin’an away, the atmosphere in the executive office was somewhat more relaxed.

Qiao En started by cleaning the meeting room, then moved on to the tea room.

Two new girls had come to the secretariat, standing there holding coffee cups and chatting. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"Hey, I don’t know when Director Zhou will be here. If he comes, we’re tired; if he doesn’t, we’re anxious. What if something happened to him? Do you think our days will be easier?"

"Don’t talk nonsense, be careful—walls have ears. Since this thing happened to Director Zhou, the second young master is quite happy. I heard that he is visiting the directors recently. If he comes, our good days will come to an end."

The two young girls chatted sporadically, their voices very low, yet Qiao En heard everything clearly.

Zhou Ziyan had a fierce ambition. Now that Jin’an was in trouble, how could he remain indifferent?

"Shh, I heard a rumor that the second young master was behind Director Zhou’s troubles. He really wants Director Zhou dead."

"Right, did you hear? This trouble for Director Zhou was because of a woman..."

"A woman? What woman? Director Zhou is everyone’s darling. Which woman has been so fortunate as to capture his heart?"

...

The women gossiped, completely oblivious to Chen Yin’s arrival.

"Have you got nothing better to do? Director Zhou is not here; do you not know the rules of the secretariat anymore?"

With a stern face, Chen Yin very much looked the part of a chief secretary.

At her words, the two quickly disappeared with their coffee cups, heads down.

Chen Yin also walked out, but before she did, she gave Qiao En a deep look.

"Are you the newcomer, Xu Yayun?"

Qiao En, clutching a rag and wiping the countertop, replied with a raspy voice, "Yes, I am."

"Around here, whatever you hear or see, you’re not allowed to casually talk about it outside."

"Yes," she responded.

After laying down the rules, Chen Yin left, leaving Qiao En somewhat confused.

Was Jin’an trying to find her when he got into trouble?

Was Jin’an’s trouble related to Zhou Ziyan?

Huge questions swirled in her mind.

She had returned to Rong City to see Jin’an.

But what about going back to Nanchen?

When she made that decision, Qiao En hadn’t thought clearly, driven only by the inner voice telling her that he needed her now, and she had to be as close to him as possible.

Hiding in the shadows was both a protection for herself and assistance for him.

During lunch break, Qiao En ate the staff meal and quietly slipped out alone.

She found a secluded spot and dialed Detective Wu’s number.

"Secretary Qiao, didn’t I tell you? We shouldn’t contact each other during this time, it’s very dangerous." Detective Wu wasn’t pleased when he answered the call.

"Director Zhou is in trouble," Qiao En interjected.

There was a long silence on the other end of the phone, "What does that have to do with me?"

"Detective Wu, I need you now," Qiao En revealed her card.

"Secretary Qiao, you’ve just started a new life, why muddle through these murky waters? Do you realize how deep these waters are? You could lose your life."

Wu didn’t understand, but Qiao En had her own explanation.

"I love him, I can’t let anything happen to him."

This was the first time she had expressed her feelings for Jin’an.

Wu was taken aback, but his voice immediately rose, "Irrational love is a flood that will eventually make you reap the consequences. Secretary Qiao, I hope you will think carefully."

But Qiao En didn’t heed his advice.

"Please consider it, I hope to see you in Rong City tomorrow. Don’t worry about the money, I’ll send it to you right now."

As she spoke, Qiao En hung up and immediately transferred one million to Detective Wu’s account.

Ten minutes later, she received the message she had been hoping for from Detective Wu.

"Alright, this time, I’ll join your madness."
