Plotting with You: The Forensic Scientist in Ancient Times!-Chapter 286 - 285: Furious Outburst
Upon hearing these words, Yan Daoxin immediately seized the opportunity to push the blame onto Pang Yuzhen, decisively asserting that it was because Pang Yuzhen did not strictly adhere to dietary restrictions while taking the herbal remedy he prescribed. She knew she should not consume those expensive supplements, yet she insisted on doing so, which resulted in the rash.
Fortunately, this kind of drug-induced rash wouldn’t spread to others, so there was no need for excessive worry. Once the accumulated heat toxin in the body dissipates, she would naturally recover.
Pang Yuzhen felt both relieved and anxious upon hearing this news. It wasn’t a life-threatening illness, which was certainly good news, allowing her to breathe a sigh of relief.
However, the reason she had consumed the supplements without any reservations before was that she had in mind Yan Daoxin and Zhu Yu’s visit together. During the previous consultation, Yan Daoxin had praised the Miao Family excessively but was rather discourteous to her. She couldn’t help wondering if Zhu Yu had suggested something mischievous, leading Divine Doctor Yan to stand up for her own mother.
Despite feeling uneasy about the incidents, considering Prince Xiaoyao still seemed somewhat capable, the Pang Family chose not to act out, but she stopped taking Yan Daoxin’s warnings seriously.
As a result, she developed a face full of these red rashes.
Fortunately, Zhu Cheng did not mention anything and continued dining with her and staying in her room at night, which greatly reassured Pang Yuzhen.
But after a day or two, her facial rash not only failed to subside but grew more severe by the day. Initially, some rashes appeared between her nose, eyebrows, and eyes, but now it seemed almost impossible to locate these features amid the growing rash.
This left Pang Yuzhen worried and anxious with no one to confide in, but then Zhu Cheng made things worse by not returning to the bedroom. The study did have temporary sleeping arrangements.
However, he even had the servants move all the pillows and quilts out of the bedroom, which obviously signaled he was in no hurry to return.
Pang Yuzhen, already anxious, felt her emotions flare up instantly, as if a bucket of hot oil had been poured over her heart. Fueled by rage, she immediately intended to storm into the study and confront Zhu Cheng but was stopped outside the courtyard by his guards, who told her the Prince had ordered that no one, not even Princess Shuo, may enter without his permission.
Over the years, Pang Yuzhen had never suffered such treatment, and she was both furious and aggrieved. Her crying and yelling outside the courtyard disturbed the entire Prince Mansion, terrifying the poor concubines into longing to block their doors with stones to avoid Pang Yuzhen’s rampant anger and possible unjustified outbursts at them.
Upon catching wind of the situation, Zhu Yu instructed the rune to move the Miao Family to the guest room in Li Garden, no longer allowing them to stay in her room.
Zhu Ning acted impulsively and irrationally like this because she had a mother who was nearly her mirror image.
In the past, Pang Yuzhen had taken out her displeasure by finding excuses to make things difficult for now useless concubines in the household, which had become routine.
But seeing as the Miao Family were the most prominent ones, whenever her temper flared, lacking rationale, prudence gave way to impulse.
The Miao Family didn’t refuse their daughter’s good intentions this time, feeling worried and frightened themselves.
Through most of that night, Pang Family had been in a tumult, quieting only when exhaustion overcame Pang Yuzhen from venting, hence slightly restoring peace to Prince Shuo Mansion.
The following morning, breakfast was delivered later than usual, and rather than being prepared in the household kitchen, it was brought back in food boxes from a restaurant outside.
"What’s happening today...?" Zhu Yu inquired, slightly puzzled, to one of the household servants delivering the meal.
The servant, an old household member who had served the Prince Mansion for nearly twenty years, sighed deeply before replying: "Second Miss, to be honest, in the Prince Mansion’s kitchen today we can’t piece together a single intact bowl!
Last night, when the Madam was upset, she smashed numerous cups and bowls to pieces.
This morning, the kitchen tried madly to send meals over, only to have them thrown into the courtyard each time, no matter what they tried.
Eventually, we ran out of food and dishes entirely, and the steward asked the Prince what to do. Prince simply said to buy from outside; whether Madam eats or not is her own concern and not worth entertaining further.
I’m here to deliver food to Li Garden, and I don’t know what fate has befallen those delivering food to the Madam."
Zhu Yu thanked and dismissed the old servant.
She glanced at Lu Qing, who was listening intently to their conversation: "It seems the Right Chief Historian’s attitude deeply affected Father.
Previously, Father would never provoke Pang Yuzhen like this over a mere drug-induced rash without offering room for reprieve."
"If this awakens him, it wouldn’t be a bad thing." Lu Qing beckoned Zhu Yu over, "Let’s have breakfast first; it’s a change of taste today, and it wouldn’t be good if it gets cold."
Zhu Yu nodded, turning to invite the Miao Family to join them in eating.
However, they didn’t really enjoy their meal in peace for long before a guard from Zhu Cheng’s side hurriedly ran in.
"Second Miss, Prince Xiaoyao, the Prince requests your presence," the guard announced.
"What does Father want with us?" Zhu Yu asked, putting down her chopsticks.
The guard’s gaze flicked to the dining Miao Family: "You two will find out when you get there."
Clearly, it was something unsuitable for outside ears.
Zhu Yu and Lu Qing didn’t delay any further, got up and followed the guard to the study.
Along the way, remnants of what Pang Yuzhen had wrecked the day before were scattered around, some yet to be repaired, creating quite a mess.
Especially near the study’s entrance, one could still see small broken porcelain and jade pieces in the stone slabs.
Upon entering the study, they found Zhu Cheng standing inside with his hands behind his back, alongside a travel-worn and weary personal soldier.
Seeing Zhu Yu and Lu Qing, Zhu Cheng nodded at them and then turned to the soldier, "Tell us about the situation over at the Black Iron mine now!"
The soldier, with a serious expression, saluted and reported, "Sir, when you dispatched us swiftly to take over the Black Iron mine from the Pang Family’s control, we traveled day and night at full speed to reach there. Upon arrival, the Pang Family refused outright to hand it over, asserting they act only under their lord’s command and no other authority."
