Chapter 484: Chapter 484: Step by Step Toward Him

"Where is Julian Lawson now?" Percival Ford asked Jasper Ford, "Don’t tell me he’s off somewhere thinking of ending it all again."

The people around all nodded their heads in agreement: "Today’s a joyous day for Serena and Silas."

"Ian Yates is watching him," Jasper Ford replied. "I handed him over to Ian Yates."

...

Meanwhile, in another car.

Ian Yates instructed the driver to start the car, while he watched over Julian Lawson in the back.

He had been yelling just a moment ago, but soon after, Julian Lawson was pushed into the car.

Seeing Julian Lawson in such a dazed state, Ian Yates felt a headache coming on.

After thinking for a long time, Ian Yates said, "Do you want something to eat, Mr. Lawson? Are you hungry?"

But Julian Lawson didn’t respond, just stared blankly out the window. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"What are they doing now?" Julian Lawson asked hoarsely after some time.

Ian Yates knew he was asking about Serena and Silas.

But Ian Yates didn’t dare to say.

"Tell me," Julian Lawson looked at Ian Yates.

"Well, according to Jasper Ford, they’re redoing her makeup and hair, and then they’ll continue with the... proceedings," Ian Yates chose his words carefully.

He purposely turned "wedding" into "proceedings," hoping this wordplay might make Julian Lawson feel a bit better.

But it had no effect on Julian Lawson.

He looked out at the sunset.

"After she’s made up again, she’ll walk towards Silas in her wedding dress, and they’ll be married in front of everyone."

Julian Lawson said softly, "And then comes the banquet and the wedding night games."

"And then..."

He had been through these proceedings before.

Ian Yates kept glancing at Julian Lawson, wanting to say something but finding it hard to think of anything.

After a long time, an idea suddenly struck him.

"Mr. Lawson, you need to stay calm," Ian Yates comforted. "We’re not in a rush here."

Ian Yates had previously thought of introducing another woman to Julian Lawson, but seeing Julian about to jump into the river, Ian knew he wouldn’t find someone else anytime soon.

So, Ian Yates continued to persuade him: "Even if Serena marries Silas, Mr. Lawson, you can still win her back."

"Yes, that’s it," Ian Yates nodded, making a cheer gesture. "Even if they marry, they can still divorce!"

Julian Lawson looked at the suddenly "smart" Ian Yates.

"Isn’t it good?" Ian Yates asked awkwardly.

He thought it was decent, giving Julian Lawson something to look forward to, saving his life for now, with future coaxing at a later time.

But Julian Lawson knew that once they married, they’d never get divorced.

Silas Hawthorne had planned this for a long time, and he wouldn’t let go.

And she...

Julian Lawson recalled how she depended on Silas in that room.

He closed his eyes in pain.

Seeing Julian Lawson close his eyes, Ian Yates let out a sigh of relief, maybe he was tired, tiredness was good, sleep and it will be tomorrow soon.

Maybe by tomorrow, he’d have figured it out.

Seizing the moment while Julian Lawson closed his eyes, Ian Yates secretly took out his phone and opened the chat with "Fleeing Canary."

He wanted to learn from Julian Lawson’s experience and be more proactive.

If he liked money, then he liked money—better than having nothing.

Ian Yates thought for a moment and tapped the screen.

Ian Yates: Are you there?

It didn’t take long for a response to come back.

Fleeing Canary: You and Julian Lawson are good buddies, right?

Ian Yates: Yeah, Mr. Lawson is in my car now.

Fleeing Canary: Scumbags, all of you! I declare you two can form a group called "Scumbag Boys."

Fleeing Canary: Don’t come to me anymore, I don’t want to talk to scumbags, it affects my luck with money.

Ian Yates tried to send another message, but all he got was a big red exclamation mark.

She had deleted him!

Unbelievable!

...

On the other side, in the dressing room.

The makeup artist skillfully wiped off Serena’s smeared makeup and applied a new look.

Bianca Lynch came in with some ointment to apply to Serena’s injured wrist.

She applied it while muttering under her breath.

Serena looked at Bianca Lynch and smiled.

It took a while to finish the makeup.

Then Bianca stayed with Serena there.

"I need to watch over you." Bianca Lynch said, "This is too hard for you."

"When you and Justin Jennings have your wedding, I’ll be watching over you too," Serena said, "though I can’t be your bridesmaid since I’m married."

"So what, haha, I’ll be your bridesmaid then!" Bianca Lynch held Serena’s hands and said, "Serena, your happiness is what matters most."

"I hope you find happiness too," Serena said.

Bianca Lynch said seriously, "We will all be happy."

Serena nodded, they would be happy.

Silas had also gone to change his suit, the previous one was all wrinkled.

"Mr. Hawthorne, we don’t have the previous color, is white alright?"

Silas glanced and nodded.

It matched Serena’s dress well.

Here, a makeup artist was fixing his look too, since the two of them had been on the motorcycle earlier and ended up with messy hair.

Everyone started getting busy, and soon, everything was ready.

Security at the site was tighter.

Isla Lawson came wrapped tightly but was stopped outside.

She had to call Xander Linton, who came out to escort her in.

"What are you doing here?" Xander Linton whispered, "The Lawsons are here now and people are out for blood, don’t let them find you."

Isla Lawson nodded, stealing a glance to the side, "I wanted to see her, I hope she can be happy even if she’s not marrying my brother."

Hearing Isla mention Julian Lawson, Xander Linton’s face turned sour.

"Okay, my bad, I won’t mention him again." Isla Lawson immediately surrendered.

"That’s better," Xander Linton nodded.

Other guests began to enter and took their seats, waiting to witness the ceremony.

Music flowed smoothly, and Serena, supported by others, came to wait outside the entrance of the hall.

"Serena, don’t be afraid, Ethan and I are both here," Ethan Lynch said softly to Serena.

Serena nodded, looking at Ethan Lynch and then at Sheila Jenkins.

Unusually, Sheila Jenkins patted Serena’s hand reassuringly.

Serena’s lips curled slightly into a smile.

She looked back to see Seraphina, in a little dress, smiling brightly at her.

Seraphina and another little boy were coming as flower children.

Inside, the officiant was speaking, and Serena remained calm, patiently waiting.

Suddenly, the door in front of Serena shifted and then slowly opened.

All the lights focused on her, and Serena looked radiant and stunning.

"Wow!"

Many people exclaimed in amazement.

The sight was dazzling.

And Serena looked towards the stage.

Silas Hawthorne, dressed in a white suit, stood there.

His face wore a gentle smile as he looked at her from afar, waiting for her.

Her hand moved slightly, signaling it was time to move forward.

The wedding march began to play softly, as Serena, with Sheila Jenkins and Ethan Lynch supporting her, took step by step, step by step, towards Silas Hawthorne.
