Playtime's Over, CEO: She's Really Done With You-Chapter 468: Can I Call You Silas?
"Dad, who did you prank this time?" Joanne asked.
Her own dad, she knows well—he’s a grumpy old man who loves to tease others.
"Serena," Zink said.
There was silence from Joanne on the other end of the call.
Zink quickly added, "It’s because she’s Evan Sheridan’s daughter. She came to see me not long ago. I thought she was as annoying as her father, so I decided to tease her a bit."
Joanne sighed deeply on the phone, saying, "Evan’s been dead for a long time. What’s the point of picking on Serena now?"
Zink didn’t know what to say.
After a pause, Joanne continued, "Forget it. She won’t hold it against you since she’s younger."
"That might not be the case..." Zink recounted what he had just done.
"Dad, are you out of your mind!" Joanne couldn’t take it, "All your previous pranks aside, Serena and Silas are about to get married, and you’re advising her to consider her ex-husband?"
Zink scratched his head.
Joanne continued angrily, "It’s like I’ve finally divorced that damn man and found new happiness, and then someone suddenly tells me to get back with him. What would you think?"
"I’d beat the hell out of him!" Zink replied without thinking.
"See, that’s exactly what you just did," Joanne summed up.
Zink was silent.
The car drove back to Zink Tower.
Zink returned to his office, and his secretary came over to ask, "Chairman, should we continue to track Serena’s whereabouts?"
Zink shook his head, "No need."
Perhaps Serena didn’t want to deal with him anymore and wouldn’t come back.
The secretary found it odd but didn’t dare to ask further and left.
...
Aeon.
Serena sat on the office sofa, looking at the scenery outside.
The clouds drifted slowly, but Serena’s mind was blank, lost in thought.
She didn’t know how long she had been sitting there.
Eventually, she realized someone was standing next to her.
She turned around and saw Silas.
Suddenly, she felt an overwhelming sense of grievance.
Her nose tingled.
Serena’s eyes became moist. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Silas squatted down to make eye contact with her.
Watching her tears fall continuously, he reached to wipe them away, but they just kept flowing, unable to be wiped dry.
She cried painfully, and sitting next to her, he also had reddened eyes.
She was crying so hard she couldn’t catch her breath, while he held her face, just looking at her.
He didn’t tell her not to cry, just stayed with her.
She looked at him, holding the hand that held her face, and then threw herself into his embrace.
"Silas..." she sobbed, her voice filled with sorrow and muffled by her tears.
His hands trembled slightly as he gently placed one on her back.
He understood that because her parents called each other this, she used to call her closest person Julian by that name.
But after falling down the stairs, she never called Julian that again.
Since they started being together, she always called him "Silas," but now, she had changed how she addressed him.
Did it mean that he had become more important in her heart?
Silas felt a warmth in his heart.
"I’m here," he replied, gently patting her back to comfort her, tears falling on her back.
Serena cried for a long time before stopping.
When she looked up, she saw Silas with red eyes.
She reached out to wipe away the tears from his face.
"I don’t want to call you Silas anymore," Serena said, although her parents used that name, she had used it in her previous marriage.
"I want to give you a different affectionate nickname." Serena looked at Silas’s dark eyes, her voice still thick with emotion, "You call me Serena, so I’ll call you Silas, okay?"
Silas smiled and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
He said, "Okay."
"Silas," Serena called out.
"I’m here," Silas replied.
"Silas, someone just said you’re not as good as others, and it made me cry," Serena said.
Silas nodded, with a face full of "righteous indignation," he said, "That’s terrible, bullying our Serena, I must go and teach him a lesson!"
Serena couldn’t hold back and burst into laughter.
"You sound like you’re coaxing a child," she said.
"In my heart, Serena is always 18," Silas said with grandiosity.
"The seventh anniversary of 18?" Serena said.
"Then what am I?" Silas followed her lead and asked, "The eleventh anniversary of 18?"
Serena laughed so hard she collapsed onto the sofa.
A moment ago she was so sad, but now she was so happy, her mood was like a roller coaster.
Her laughter caused her to hiccup continuously.
Earlier, tears were shed out of sadness, and now tears fell from laughter.
Silas quickly went to get her a glass of water.
But even after drinking, the hiccups continued.
"Try holding your breath," Silas said as he searched, "Inhale deeply, hold for 10-15 seconds, then exhale slowly, repeat 2-3 times."
Serena pinched her nose and held her breath, and reached out to pinch his nose as well.
The hiccups stopped at some point.
Then, inexplicably, the two of them started a holding-breath competition.
In the end, Silas was the first to lose.
Serena was almost at her limit too, just happened to exhale as Silas did.
The two of them began taking deep breaths together.
And then they burst into laughter together.
They both laughed so hard on the sofa that they had no strength left.
"Silas," Serena called.
"Hmm?" Silas responded.
"Silas."
"I’m here."
"Silas, Silas."
"Here, here."
"Silas, I love you," Serena turned around and said, looking at Silas.
Once, when she was sad and helpless, she would only go to her parents. After her father was gone and her mother grew distant, apart from putting on a strong front, she would only go to her father’s grave.
But just a moment ago, when she turned and saw Silas, she unexpectedly felt a sense of reliance.
As if, in front of him, she didn’t have to hold on, didn’t have to pretend to be strong, could cry if she wanted to cry, laugh if she wanted to laugh.
Silas reached out to caress her face.
"Serena, I love you too," he said softly, his voice full of emotion.
Then he leaned in and kissed her lips.
A few minutes later, Serena took his hand out from under her clothes.
"Don’t mess around in the office," Serena said, blushing, employees were still outside.
"Alright," Silas seemed a bit aggrieved, he glanced down at his pants and sighed.
Serena felt a bit awkward too, so she changed the subject quickly.
"Silas, did you come over for something?" Serena asked.
"I saw you didn’t reply for a while, so I came to check on you," Silas answered.
Serena then remembered she was choosing photos before Zink came.
She propped herself up from the sofa, and Silas stood up, helping her to her feet.
They walked over to the desk together.
Serena opened the file, and the two began to discuss it.
Finally, they decided to use a photo of them looking at each other as the welcome photo.
"I heard Zink came by earlier?" Silas asked.
Serena nodded and said, "I will handle this myself."
