Playtime's Over, CEO: She's Really Done With You-Chapter 392: Blood Rushing to the Head, Losing Reason and Refusing to Believe
Just thinking about how Serena Sterling is probably happily waiting to see her fail made Isla Lawson so angry she wanted to smash something.
The secretary was waiting nearby.
Seeing Isla Lawson like this made her a bit afraid too.
But the ten minutes had already passed, so the secretary had to remind Isla Lawson that it was time to go to Julian Lawson’s office.
Isla Lawson stormed into the CEO’s office, stomping her high heels.
She opened the door and stood in front of Julian Lawson’s desk, looking down at Julian Lawson as he reviewed documents, full of resentment but saying nothing.
Julian Lawson didn’t give Isla Lawson a glance either, leaving her to the side and continuing to read his files.
The two remained in a deadlock, neither making a sound.
The office was silent, with only the sound of pages turning.
Eventually, the office phone rang.
Julian Lawson reached out and pressed it; it was Jude Chaucer’s voice.
"President Lawson, the situation here has been resolved."
"Miss Isla’s copper has been completely withdrawn. I monitored it; there were no mistakes," Jude Chaucer continued, "I’m bringing the specific data upstairs now."
"Got it," Julian Lawson responded, and then hung up the internal phone.
Isla Lawson had been standing there for a long time; she finally couldn’t hold it in anymore.
"Brother, even if you’re the CEO, I built the department, you can’t do this!" Isla Lawson shouted boldly.
Julian Lawson continued to look at the documents without responding.
Isla Lawson grew even angrier and blurted out, "You always say you want me to win fair and square, but it’s you who keeps being biased, always helping Serena! How am I supposed to win like this?"
Only then did Julian Lawson stop, he looked up at Isla Lawson, his expression inscrutable.
"Do you still think you’re going to win?" Julian Lawson asked.
Isla Lawson looked defiantly at Julian Lawson.
"The copper was just an accident," Isla Lawson said, "I’ve had people investigate; it’s the mining company deliberately concealing info."
"Serena just wanted to gamble, and she happened to win this time!"
"It’s not because of her ability, nor my mistake!"
Isla Lawson spat out her words rapidly.
But Julian Lawson calmly watched her, waiting for her to finish.
"Finished?" Julian Lawson asked as he looked at the now silent Isla Lawson.
Isla Lawson pressed her lips tight, giving no reply.
"Aether was Serena’s luck, copper was Serena’s luck too, right?" Julian Lawson asked.
"Yes, every time it’s just coincidence, or before it was Aether, her and Brandon..." this guess went unfinished, seeing Julian Lawson’s gaze stopping her from continuing.
"Then what about gold?" Julian Lawson continued to ask, "Was that just luck too?"
Although it seemed like a bluff, Serena still made money on gold.
"That’s not her ability either!" Isla Lawson said angrily, "She was just covering up her gamble on copper by buying gold as a distraction!"
"She made money on gold just to trick me!"
Listening to Isla Lawson’s reasoning almost made Julian Lawson want to laugh.
"Everything is just her luck, everything is coincidence," Julian Lawson said, "Don’t you think there’s something wrong with that?"
"Just look at the copper this time; it was the mining company hiding the facts. Maybe she knew a bit more locally than you did, but no one had accurate info, yet she managed to seize the opportunity."
"Back when the Lawson Family rose up, it was also by catching the tide of the times, gaining our status in Aeston, if you say so, Lawson Family also relied on luck."
Isla Lawson protested, "That’s not the same, brother, how can you compare her to our Lawson Family!"
Seeing Isla Lawson’s defiant expression, Julian Lawson continued, "Fine, even if it’s all luck on her part, Isla, have you ever heard the saying, ’Luck is also a part of strength’?"
She certainly had heard this saying before.
But she just wouldn’t accept it.
"Luck eventually runs out," Isla Lawson said, "Brother, there’s another saying, ’Only when the tide goes out do you see who’s swimming naked’."
"I still believe in strength over everything!" Isla Lawson declared strongly.
Julian Lawson quietly watched Isla Lawson.
Seeing her overwhelmed by anger, he knew she wouldn’t listen to reason.
It wasn’t that Serena lacked ability.
It was that Isla Lawson believed Serena lacked ability.
All these years, the contributions Serena made to The Lawson Corporation were just not recorded under her name.
The reality, Julian Lawson understood clearly.
"I’ll give you a three-day break," Julian Lawson said, "Go home and think it through; you don’t need to worry about the company matters."
This was practically a forced shutdown. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Not allowing her to operate within the company.
Isla Lawson was still not convinced, but there was nothing she could do; Julian Lawson held absolute authority within the company.
Thus, she could only leave in a huff.
At the door, she bumped into Jude Chaucer waiting, she glared at Jude Chaucer.
Jude Chaucer was innocently involved, but he said nothing, just handing over the data to Julian Lawson.
Julian Lawson only glanced at it and sneered, "Lost so much but still stubborn."
Jude Chaucer smiled, saying nothing.
He only thought Julian Lawson’s decision not to let Isla Lawson use company funds was indeed wise.
...
On the other side, Isla Lawson was back in her office.
She angrily packed her things.
The secretary came in.
"Miss Lawson, we just received notice from President Lawson, you’re on a three-day leave starting now...."
The meaning was clear, Isla Lawson was not allowed any operations within the company, directly banned.
"Here’s the data," the secretary handed the file hesitantly.
Isla Lawson didn’t even look, she threw it on the floor.
If she wasn’t allowed to operate, what’s the point of looking!
After throwing it, she grabbed her bag and left The Lawson Corporation.
Taking the elevator to the underground parking lot, she sat in her car, finally feeling some relief.
Her mind buzzed with thoughts of recent events.
Unyielding and angry emotions overwhelmed her.
She had boasted to so many people, including the call she made to Xander Linton earlier.
If she really lost, what would happen to her reputation as Miss Isla of the Lawson Family?
Everyone would know that she, Isla Lawson, lost to a vase who only knew how to maneuver between men, lost to Serena!
What to do....
"Buzz buzz buzz...."
The phone vibrated again.
Isla Lawson picked up the phone, seeing it was a call from a friend, she pressed the answer key.
"Quinn," Isla Lawson said.
"Didn’t you just ask for help in raising funds? It’s been raised now, do you still want it?" the voice on the other end said.
"I want it," Isla Lawson gritted her teeth.
The company doesn’t allow her to operate, she can secretly operate herself!
Thinking so, Isla Lawson immediately took action.
Not long after, the funds arrived.
Isla Lawson herself had other accounts, making sure she wouldn’t use previous ones, so Julian Lawson wouldn’t find out.
With this, Isla Lawson entered the market again, her account leveraged three times against Serena.
Now that the whole morning had passed, copper prices had risen a lot, even if stimulated by information, she didn’t believe they could keep rising!
It’s about time they started falling.
