Playing a DPS Role with Absolute Defense-Chapter 193 - 191: Post-Battle Inventory, Su Mo’s Weapons!
Tu Hongwu helped support Gongsun Mu as he slowly straightened his body, waving his hand softly: "I’ve always had the weakest talent. Just making it this far, I’m already pretty satisfied. From here on out, it’s Chu Tian and Old Bai’s turn." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
As he spoke, Tu Hongwu raised his head to gaze at the sky, as though he could see himself, brave and unmatched, on the Alien Race Battlefield.
And as though he saw that moment atop the Great Xia arena, him and Chu Tian together being called the Twin Prides of Great Xia.
That was him, high-spirited; even though he’d always been a little overshadowed by Chu Tian, there was still a trace of defiance in his eyes.
Back then, he’d always thought Chu Tian was just lucky, awakened a stronger ability, and had a powerful family behind him.
While his own talent wasn’t great, and the ability he awakened wasn’t that strong, he made it this far through pure hard work—so he’d always believed he was better than Chu Tian!
But ever since Chu Tian achieved Extreme Dao and became a god—slaying four alien Divine Level beings in one day—while Tu Hongwu was stuck at Half-Step Extreme Dao with no progress, everything seemed to change.
He started walking a different path.
If he couldn’t beat his rival in strength, he’d surpass him in the bigger picture.
After all, he was the one who truly crawled out of mountains of corpses and seas of blood!
From that moment, his heart for Extreme Dao was fully dead. Although he kept claiming he would reach Extreme Dao, deep down he knew the truth.
The moment he let go, he knew he’d never achieve Extreme Dao again.
And just now, even his path to being Super God was cut off.
If he can’t fight for Humanity anymore, then at least he can pave the way for Su Mo!
Thinking of this, Tu Hongwu closed his eyes; a tear silently slid down from the corner.
Gongsun Mu stood quietly to the side watching, a storm of emotions inside him, but he couldn’t say a word.
Even before Tu Hongwu entered the battlefield, Gongsun Mu was already crafting weapons for the army.
All the way through Tu Hongwu becoming a god, Gongsun Mu was still making weapons.
He was the one who followed Tu Hongwu the longest—every change from beginning to end, he’d witnessed them all.
From that clueless rookie stepping onto the battlefield, to Tu Hongwu, the Twin Pride of Great Xia, and finally the legendary Blood Slaughter God, he’d given too much for Humanity.
Humanity needed Divine Level, so in order to contend with Chu Tian, he’d given up the Extreme Dao path and chose Half-Step Extreme Dao to become a god.
After ascending, he directly shared his method of becoming a god, but it was so difficult that few in Humanity could achieve it.
So he studied arrays, runes, forging, alchemy; eventually simplified the method to godhood, and divine-level Humans started springing up like bamboo after the rain.
Yet by then, he’d realized he’d fallen behind Chu Tian by a gap that could never be crossed.
With nothing else he could do, he just smiled bitterly, then learned military art, strategy, scheming, and eventually became a military god.
Humanity needed an Artisan God, so he fought against all objections and poured every resource he could onto one old man—himself.
All of Tu Hongwu’s glory looked dazzling, but only Gongsun Mu knew none of this was what he truly wanted.
Maybe what he wanted most, after all, was to be an Unrivaled War God like Chu Tian.
Or maybe to be a Space War God like Bai Yuanhao, free and elegant.
It was Humanity that held him down!
Gongsun Mu let out a long sigh: "I understand now."
Finished speaking, he helped Tu Hongwu walk towards the imposing volcano.
......
Su Mo was sent to a manor in the Capital City by Bai Yuanhao; according to the White War God, it was an estate assigned to his master by Great Xia.
He only explained briefly, telling Su Mo to stay put in the manor these days, that someone would come explain Silver-level knowledge to him later—then left directly.
Su Mo didn’t try to stop him or ask questions; he knew they must be busy right now.
And from what he could tell, after this whole incident, maybe it was finally time for him to head to the Alien Race Battlefield.
With that thought, he opened his system panel.

[System Space 130,000 cubic meters]
[Assignable Free Attribute Points: 377,793]
Looking at the slew of "Extreme Dao skill weakened" notices on his system panel, and the upgradable skills, Su Mo couldn’t help but feel pretty cheerful inside.
After all, this meant he could keep leveling up fast—just needed enough assignable free attribute points.
Even though he had a whopping 370,000 assignable free points, that wasn’t even enough to max out one stat, so Su Mo wasn’t in a rush.
Right now the main thing was to upgrade some skills.
After all he’d been through, his old companions—Mountain Collapse and Earth Split, and Frenzied Strike—were pretty much obsolete now.
Frankly, any skill he now used could wipe the floor with those hundreds of times over.
So he flat-out ignored those two skills.
Next up was Attack Return. Su Mo actually wanted to upgrade this one.
The more attack he returned, the more damage he’d deal to enemies.
But the idea of standing there getting beat on just rubbed Su Mo the wrong way. Sure, his ability was literally made for taking hits—and he was damn near the king of taking hits.
If he’d actually thought that way from the start, Su Mo wouldn’t have chosen to be a DPS.
So he decided to shelve that skill for now!
Then there was Defense Force Field, which conflicted with Attack Return—the moment it’s active, he can’t return damage. Kind of annoying.
But honestly, it’s not a bad skill, at least when he has teammates, it’d guarantee their safety.
The question is, Su Mo pretty much never teams up, so upgrading this skill was also shelved for now.
Voice of the Heart—a skill already upgraded to level 5—its attack effect and frequency weren’t keeping up with his current level.
Though it was sourced from Heart of Slaughter, it just couldn’t match up to Absolute Defense.
Even though he’d sunk a ton of skill points into boosting it to level 5, once Extreme Dao skills leveled up, Voice of the Heart just couldn’t keep pace anymore.
Extreme Dao skills really are just that powerful—you wanna use them however you want, no restrictions at all.
Group single-shot, totally at will, even the area of effect can be tweaked as you like.
That really only left one skill—Flying in the Sky.
Su Mo was a little puzzled too—Flying in the Sky was already so ridiculously overpowered, what happens if he upgrades it again?
3x lightspeed, 5x?
Or was it 100x, 1000x lightspeed?
Honestly, even then, it wouldn’t be a huge difference.
However fast you go, it’s still nothing compared to Space Transmission.
It’s like—no matter how fast you run, you can’t outrun a guy on a jet plane.
So Su Mo really wondered what upgrading this skill would actually do for him.
Just as Su Mo was about to upgrade a skill, the very space in front of him rippled; Old Mr. Gongsun stepped out with his sister and the two Li Yuanhao sisters.
"Kid, I brought your sister over. That hammer—mind giving it back now?"
He was really happy to see his sister, but hearing that, Su Mo’s face froze immediately.
"Uh, uh, Old Mr. Gongsun, does... does the hammer need to go back? I thought you said you gave it to me earlier?"
"Bullshit, you idiot, when did I ever say I’d give it to you? I’ve always said you had to return it after using it—return it! You breathing through your ears now? Hurry up, old man doesn’t have time for your shit."
Seeing Old Mr. Gongsun acting like he’d swallowed fireworks and was ready to blow any second, Su Mo didn’t dare mouth off back.
Truth is, he’d been thinking about whether he should mention the hammer getting lost.
But clearly, it meant a lot to him.
So Su Mo could only resign himself and reach into his system space, pulling out a massive Forging Hammer.
Gongsun Mu snatched the hammer away without ceremony, then, glaring at Su Mo, snapped: "You and your master are both the same dumbasses—See a good thing and never wanna let it go!"
With that he turned to leave, but suddenly twisted back around: "Kid, have you thought about what kind of weapon you want yet?"
Su Mo froze at that, then tentatively replied: "Uh, actually I feel like this hammer you have is pretty great..."
Gongsun Mu lowered his eyes, staring at the Forging Hammer in his hand. After a long silence, he nodded. "I understand."
He said that, then turned and left without another word.
