Players Invade Cyberpunk-Chapter 672 - 216: The Unnameable Collective_3
A thug shouted in desperation,
"Kill him, grab the goods first, then we'll talk. Hurry and inform the brothers that those lunatics are causing trouble."
Saying this, he was about to pull out his gun to kill and hijack the goods. As for the money, at worst, they could compensate the Tiger Claw Gang later. A life wasn't worth much anyway.
But the players were even more delighted at this sight,
"Oh, in broad daylight, trying to gun down citizens, that's an additional crime!"
Saying so, their bullets fired off quickly, deftly drawing their guns and accurately shooting, the cops instantly killed the two thugs who intended to murder.
It was then that the Sixth Street Gang guards around the bar noticed something was wrong and started to surround the area.
But it wasn't just the Sixth Street Gang rushing to help; now more than a hundred players were roaming in the Santo Domingo area.
Players having experienced large-scale battles did not take this seemingly fierce alley fight seriously at all, moving as if strolling casually, pulling out guns to counterattack, and remaining unfazed even as bullets grazed past their ears.
The dense shell casings and rain fell to the ground together, with the fierce gunshots and the sound of rain orchestrating a fate symphony for the players' slaughter.
A man cowered in the corner, trembling with his head in his hands, covering his ears, his fear driving him to scream loudly until the gangsters' blood flowed through the rain down to his feet.
The bar owner was madly yelling for help on the phone on the third floor, but no one was able to assist him.
This place is Santo Domingo, not under NCPD's jurisdiction.
The Sixth Street Gang executives had already held multiple meetings over this issue. The illegal profit costs had skyrocketed more than tenfold within a month. For every 1KG of drugs purchased, they needed to exchange with 5 lives, and because their pharmaceutical factory was destroyed, the cost and price of pharmaceuticals had skyrocketed.
Those bastards wouldn't budge, no matter if you paid or tried to use NCPD connections, you couldn't kill them all, and they were insanely powerful, with many of them capable of entering the Anti-Terrorism Squad directly. What could these gangs do?
Thirty minutes later, the gunfire ceased.
The last body fell from the third-floor balcony to the ground, smashing the bar's neon sign in the process, exploding in a large spark, and the charred body hit the ground, now unrecognizable.
The cop cooled down the smoking gun in his hands.
"Hoo—"
Then, with a cool move, holstered the gun back at his waist.
He had fired more bullets here in one day than during a year of training in Kowloon, and with added skills, his marksmanship could easily win a shooting championship, if not hitting every bullseye.
He stepped forward and kicked the man cowering in the corner, coldly demanding,
"Where's the goods? Hand them over."
The man, scared out of his mind, dared not think about money anymore, trembling as he handed over a package of white powder with both hands.
The New Dynasty Elegance member beside him sheathed his sword, grabbed it from the man's hands, and weighed it in his palm,
"Looks like it's about half a kilo. What is this stuff, ice or helix seal?"
He had run along quite a few times these days, having seen the so-called glitter, but glitter was liquid, unlike this powder form drug in his hands.
But, as he held it, he sensed something was off.
His lungs seemed powerless, his breathing gradually becoming lighter, and the world before his eyes started changing bizarrely.
The strong drug stimulus hadn't affected his consciousness, but the physiological reaction was unavoidable, like Tutu's reaction when injected with a lethal dose of drugs.
New Dynasty Elegance had a low body modification rate; most of his hands and internal organs were still original flesh.
His brain buzzed, and white foam started leaking from the corner of his mouth.
"I...damn...I seem to have...Holy Lord, I'm transcending...Ancestor appears..."
The cop was a bit flabbergasted seeing his crazed state, then looked again at what New Dynasty Elegance was holding; the plastic bag had a small opening where the man had squeezed it hard.
New Dynasty Elegance's thumb accidentally touched a bit of the powder.
Not even inhaling it exposed him to this degree of reaction....
With years of experience as a cop, he slapped his forehead,
"Damn...it's undiluted carfentanil mixture."
This stuff, 0.01 grams of it could knock down an elephant. The mere skin contact by New Dynasty Elegance led to paralysis and hallucinations; even if it wasn't, it was close enough.
The cop nonchalantly kicked the man again,
"Got a blocker?"
The man quickly nodded, pulling out an unopened syringe from his coat.
"Got it, got it."
Without a word, the cop picked up the syringe and jabbed it into New Dynasty Elegance's neck.
If he died, so be it; at worst, he could trouble the Tiger Claw Gang later.
But after injection, gauging from the feedback from the other's body modification, the symptoms indeed showed some relief.
The cop's expression relaxed a bit, then instructed the other players to put the guy and the bodies in a car to be taken back for treatment. The man, witnessing this, immediately clung to the cop's leg, crying out,
"Boss, please spare me. I didn't want to sell this stuff either, but I really had no other options...."
Crying so dramatically, it could move mountains and rivers.
But the cop's expression toward him never changed. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
He wasn't realizing his mistake; he knew he was going to die.
Though Night City's societal landscape was different from elsewhere, the players didn't have time to delve into whether a criminal had a sob story. They might as well slay more mobs for loot and experience.
However, considering he had handed over the blocker, directly taking him out might seem unwarranted.
"Do you have family?"
"No..."
"Judging by your work, you don't have family. Take this guy back and throw him into Dragon Field for modification along with those from Chaotic Blade Association."
