Player Awakening: I Become A Lord In Game-Like World-Chapter 34: Potential Alliance Friends
Jennie’s appearance was unexpected. Caleb didn’t think he could meet again with someone he used to work with.
Caleb and Jennie had met once, it happened when Caleb’s alliance successfully advanced to the next round.
Not only them, but other alliance members also gathered to discuss other strategies outside of their discussions in the game. During that time, Caleb met Jennie a few times.
Unfortunately, when the tournament started, Jennie was forced to die as her kingdom was invaded by tens of thousands of troops, just as Caleb’s alliance troops were attacking the enemy alliance center.
At that time, Caleb realized Jennie would not win against the invasion. Yet, Caleb did not expect that Jennie could withstand the enemy invasion for several hours, disrupting the enemy’s plans. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
In the end, Caleb won the war and advanced his alliance to the final round. Jennie couldn’t join in because she had been defeated earlier, but Caleb was impressed that Jennie did everything she could to stop the siege.
The siege failed and the victory was Caleb’s. Caleb still remembers that moment well, Jennie had played a big part in his victory.
"I was panicking. I didn’t know what was happening. I was on the bus to my apartment from the office where I work. But when I woke up, I found that I ended up in this place," Jennie replied.
"Hmm... did you see anyone suspicious on the bus?" asked Caleb.
Jennie shook her head. She didn’t know who the suspicious person was, as she was very tired and feeling sick of people’s attitudes.
Caleb explained the situation to Jennie. She was surprised, not knowing that Caleb was still playing the game until the latest season. Jennie stopped playing the game a year ago, when she focused on work.
"I don’t know which group trapped us in this game, but my guess is that we were used as experimental instruments," Caleb replied.
"What kind of experiment?" Jennie asked.
"I don’t know. It could be about our behavior, or our way of thinking, or maybe it’s just a game show for a bunch of people," replied Caleb.
"That’s horrible."
"Just imagining it is horrible, what if it happens?" asked Jennie, worried.
"It’s okay. We don’t need to worry about them. Our focus now is on improving our skills and preventing the enemy from destroying us," Caleb replied.
Jennie smiled, then nodded in agreement. At first she was skeptical because she was in a strange place and alone, especially with annoying players like Great_Dao who kept attacking her for no apparent reason.
However, the sense of pessimism disappeared quickly when Jennie did not get any attacks from Great_Dao’s troops.
When she tried to go check the player’s territory, she was shocked to see that the town hall and other buildings had fallen into ruins, leaving only empty land that had been annexed by someone.
From there, Jennie guessed that Caleb was the one who killed Great_Dao. If it wasn’t him, there was no way the territory of that damn former player would belong to Caleb fully.
"But you’re CL_Ellise, why don’t you use your famous username?" Jennie asked.
"Apart from the fact that it’s already been used, I’m reluctant to cause a stir among other players. If they know that I’m CL_Ellise, they’ll scramble to be nice to me for some reason. That’s what I don’t like," Caleb said.
Jennie nodded. She understood how popular Caleb was as the game’s most successful player. It was a wise move for Caleb to use his real name instead of his game username, people would not show their intentions before they actually interacted.
"How many town hall levels have you reached?" Jennie asked.
"Currently, I’ve reached town hall level 4. Apparently, there are some differences between the game on PC and the real world nowadays," Caleb replied.
"What about you?" Caleb asked his friend.
"I’m still at level three town hall. Maybe I’ll level up my town hall today," Jennie replied.
"That’s good. The Alliance Center is unlocked when the town hall level reaches level 4. You need to level up soon, only alliance friends can help. Am I right?" Caleb asked.
Jennie nodded. Although she lost the tournament, Jennie fully understood how to play this game. She would get stronger as her town hall level increased, and the number of buildings built also increased her Kingdom Power points.
"You’re right, Ellise. I think I need to level up my town hall and start building more troops," Jennie replied.
"What kind of player do you want me to be, a farmer or an invader?" asked Jennie, a simple question that determines one’s player role model in this game.
"I have a friend with a farmer player model. I think she alone is enough to supply resources for the alliance," Caleb replied.
"You should be an Invader like me. That will be more helpful in the alliance," Caleb explained.
"Alright, I’ll become an invader. What troop unit do you want me to focus on?"
"Infantry. Focus your troops on that unit, I’ll focus on Cavalry and Archer," Caleb explained.
Jennie nodded, accepting the task Caleb had given her wholeheartedly. However, she wasn’t sure if she would be able to move the town hall anytime soon, as she didn’t have a town hall relocation ticket yet.
If she already had the ticket, then she could move her town hall near the alliance center. As Jennie remembered, when she joined an alliance, the sign-in reward from the alliance included a town hall relocation ticket.
Jennie only hoped that she could get the ticket soon. That was to help with coordinating and the flow of trade between alliance friends, the closer, the faster.
"I’ll let you know when I level up the town hall," Jennie said.
[Player Caleb sent a friend invitation to you]
[Confirm?]
[Yes] [No]
A notification panel appeared in front of Jennie, saying that Caleb had sent her a friend request. Jennie smiled, she didn’t hesitate to say yes to the confirmation.
[Confirmation received]
[Host befriends Caleb]
The two are officially friends with each other, both in real life and the game system. Caleb nodded. With the two of them being friends, Jennie could notify him through the friend chat page, as Liliana_P often did.
"You can tell me through the friend chat page," Caleb explained.
"I understand."
"Stay careful, Jennie. There’s someone trying to impersonate me, he’s more dangerous," Caleb explained.
"He has an army unit of 37, most of his troops are infantry units," Caleb said.
"Are you talking about CL_Ellise?" asked Jennie.
"Yes!"
"Don’t worry. I’ll be careful with that guy."
