Player Awakening: I Become A Lord In Game-Like World-Chapter 27: Small Betrayal
Chapter 27 - Small Betrayal
Commander William and Leonidas had returned from their fight in the south. Now, the troops were recovering their HP, while there was a group of troops watching the city from a distance.
'Do you want war? What are you doing, CL_Ellise?' asked Caleb, squinting to the south.
Caleb opened the game map and changed the stance of all the troops to Def Stance, especially the troops that had just finished raiding monsters.
With the number of troops Caleb had, he felt confident he could withstand CL_Ellise's invasion.
[One incoming message!]
[Sender: CL_Ellise]
[Kingdom Name: _Apo_King]
[I knew it. You're protecting Liliana]
[I found the woman's town hall location at last]
Caleb was shocked. He turned his head to the side and looked in Liliana's town hall's direction. The woman had said clearly that her town hall was under renovation to level up to level 3. Still, Caleb couldn't confirm how many troop units the woman had.
'The lack of an Alliance Center makes things difficult,' Caleb said.
The man pressed Infantry Camp and started producing First Swordsman again. He did not know for sure what kind of troops would attack the two, but it was better to be on guard from the first rather than underestimate the enemy's capabilities.
[WARNING!]
[Enemy attacking our outpost!]
Caleb received such a panel notification. He quickly opened the game map and saw the outpost north of RustyAxe being attacked by someone. It was John with the player username D_Destroyer.
He looked over and saw 10 scout units trying to destroy the outpost. But Caleb didn't want to act rashly.
'So, John was CL_Ellise's man all this time? This is why I can't trust everyone!' Caleb complained.
The outpost was destroyed, Caleb did nothing. The city's defense mechanism also couldn't attack due to the long distance, Caleb considered it risky if he sent William there just to bluff John.
'As long as there are Arash and Archer inside the town hall, then I don't have to worry about them destroying my town,' Caleb stated.
Caleb was silent. He needed to think clearly about the situation. His friend betrayed his enemy, and his enemy began to launch attacks on Caleb. If he acted carelessly, everything would be lost.
"He won't be able to kill Liliana. If he already knows where Liliana's town hall is, then he knows my town is close to hers," Caleb explained.
"Clever. Giving me a message that you want to destroy Liliana's town. However, you won't be able to do that as long as I'm alive," said Caleb.
Both players were still waiting. Caleb was waiting for CL_Ellise's army unit to attack, while CL_Ellise was waiting for Caleb's army to be distracted. He relied on John, the traitor, to disrupt Caleb's town hall.
That way, Caleb would be busy defending his town and find it difficult to guard Liliana. In the end, CL_Ellise managed to catch Liliana.
But Caleb wasn't a newbie gamer. He was familiar with this tactic and knew where the weaknesses were. Caleb was sure that CL_Ellise wouldn't dare to attack Liliana if Caleb's troops were still in the city.
[Friend Chat]
[D_Destroyer] [Hey, Caleb. Join CL_Ellise. I don't really want to attack you, but I have no choice. I have to survive in this game.]
[Caleb] [Do you think joining CL_Ellise can ensure your safety? Only I can do it and you've ruined your chance]
[D_Destroyer] [It was your fault. You were too arrogant not to send your troops to the north. I lost a lot because of that damn player!]
[Caleb] [After everything is done, I will destroy you. I will definitely do it!]
John no longer contacted him. It seemed that he was still in a dilemma over his decision, he didn't expect that Caleb wouldn't be provoked by him.
According to John, he could not drive down the hill and attack RustyAxe. Caleb might place his troops inside the town hall, especially since his kingdom power was quite large.
Desperate for what was happening, John decided to mobilize all his troops down the hill and attack Caleb's town hall. A warning panel appeared before Caleb, colored red.
[WARNING!]
[Enemy Army unit attacks the city]
'So that's it. You chose to join CL_Ellise instead of supporting me,' Caleb explained.

"Alright. I have no other choice," Caleb said.
Caleb divided his troops in two, the infantry focused on defending the area close to Liliana's town hall, while the cavalry focused on defending the town, attacking John's Militia unit.
The man stepped inside the town hall and took cover inside. Arash the Archer and 15 First Bowman units began to carry out their duties.
[Battle Status]
[Kills: 8] [+8]
[Razed Building: 0]
[Unit Die: 0]
[War probability: 75% war win]
Caleb watched the battle status panel appear before him, where the Archer troop unit was firing their arrows as a city defense mechanism at the attacking John troop unit.
William shouted encouragement to his Heavy Scout troops. They drove from the city center to the area behind the town hall, precisely to John's scout unit.
Luckily for Caleb, John attacked him with a Cavalry unit, where the unit was weak against arrows. John watched the battle unfold, not expecting his scout to die so easily.
[Friend Chat]
[Liliana_P] [Caleb! Looks like that man has found my town hall location]
[Caleb] [Relax. Put all your units forward to hold off CL_Ellise's army. I'll send reinforcements]
[Liliana_P] [Help me, Caleb. The number of his troops is much larger than before]
[Caleb] [I'll send First Swordsman and Light Swordsman units there. He won't be able to match my strength]
Caleb opened the vision fog, seeing that the number of CL_Ellise's troop units attacking Liliana's town hall reached 30 troop units, all consisting of 20 militia units and 10 First Swordsman units.
Even so, Caleb had around 40 Infantry units consisting of 24 First Swordsman units and 16 Light Swordsman units.
With CL_Ellise's number of troop units, Caleb only needed to send about 20 troop units: 10 First Swordsman and 10 Light Swordsman.
"Tch! It's too soon for you to defeat her. With my army, you'll lose this war!"
