Player Awakening: I Become A Lord In Game-Like World-Chapter 24: Enemy Interrogation
Chapter 24 - Enemy Interrogation
Caleb didn't expect the war in Demonic_sect_666's town hall to be three hours long. From what he saw, a lot of time was taken up because players were hiding inside the town hall while the town hall's defense mechanism was active.
'As expected. The sun is up, but I haven't completely destroyed the town hall,' Caleb replied, glancing to the side and seeing that the sun was clearly on the eastern horizon.
Even so, the town hall's durability was decreasing as Caleb's troop units attacked.
About half an hour passed, his troop unit managed to raze the town hall and kill all the villagers hiding with the man.
Leonidas saw Great_Dao's player running fast to the south to avoid Caleb's troops. Not wanting Caleb's orders to fail, Leonidas commanded a cavalry unit to go after the player and capture him alive.
It wasn't difficult for them to take down player Great_Dao. The man fell in agony, his clothes in tatters and several parts of his body wounded by the cavalry's spears.
Caleb took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly. He was happy and relieved that the war in Demonic_Sect_666's town hall had ended, with not a single building left —just ruins.
The man withdrew his troops from the area, returning to RustyAxe's town hall with the prisoners that Caleb wanted.
With this war victory, Caleb managed to knock Great_Dao out of fifth place in the rankings of the best players based on kingdom power.
[Battle Status]
[Kills: 49]
[Razed Building: 20] [+4]
[Unit Die: 19] [+6]
[War probability: 99% war win]
Despite the victory, Caleb had to admit that the number of his troops had decreased. From three hours of war, 14 of his units had died, consisting of 8 militia units, 4 Light Swordsman units, and 2 Heavy Scout units.
Yet, Caleb felt grateful. The death of 14 units of his troops paid off completely with the destruction of the town hall. Now, the eastern area of RustyAxe was safe from trouble.
Two hours into the march, Caleb's troop units could be seen on the horizon. Caleb applauded them, there were several troop units that were wounded and showed a yellow HP bar.
"Sir. I've arrested the enemy," announced Leonidas, coming in with Great_Dao in his hand.
Caleb nodded. He told Leonidas to take the man far enough away from the town hall range, preventing him from dying before Caleb interrogated him. Leonidas agreed.
"Asshole! Did you plan all this?" asked Great_Dao.
"What's your name?" asked Caleb.
"Nord!"
"Well, Nord. You better tell me everything about CL_Ellise. How did you become friends?" asked Caleb, standing up with his arms crossed.
"TCH! You defeated me just to know that? Pathetic!" scoffed Nord.
"Watch your language, Mr. Nord. Your life and death are in my hands, have you forgotten?"
Leonidas drew an iron sword from its scabbard and pointed the blade at Nord's neck, as Caleb had ordered.
Nord's nerves were frayed, he hadn't expected Caleb to go this far, it wasn't like what he had imagined.
"T-Take that sword away. I'm talking!" Nord said, his face turning from an annoyed expression to a frightened pallor.
"Talk."
"We became friends because he offered me something," Nord replied.
"What is it?"
"If I help him get that bitch, he'll give me the woman's town hall. Not only that, but he also promised me the position of deputy head of the alliance later," Nord said.
Caleb had guessed that CL_Ellise was very obsessed with Liliana. It was natural for him to do so, Liliana was probably the only woman on this continent that anyone would want to catch the girl's eye.
Aside from being beautiful, her sexy body was also able to captivate many men. Still, Caleb only saw her as his resource barn.
Once TH leveled up to level 4 and the alliance was formed, Liliana would be useful for stockpiling resources for the alliance.
"Is that all?" asked Caleb.
"He also asked me to keep an eye on you, right after the player ranking announcement was released," Nord replied.
"Hmm... it seems that the announcement will have a significant impact on me," explained Caleb.
"So, what's he planning to do next?" Caleb asked.
"I don't know. He never said anything about his plans," Nord replied.
"Really? Can I trust your word?" asked Caleb.
Leonidas pressed the blade of his sword further against Nord's neck, making Nord tremble with fear and cry.
The man begged Caleb to spare his life, he knew nothing about CL_Ellise's plans.
"I-I've heard that he plans to unite all the players other than you and Liliana on this continent. I don't know when he's gonna do that," Nord replied.
"They'll listen to me more than CL_Ellise. I'm the lord with the most kingdom power. Did you know that?" Caleb asked.
"I only speak what I know, nothing more," Nord replied.
Liliana stepped closer to RustyAxe's town hall, wanting to ask Caleb something directly.
But her steps were halted when she saw Caleb talking to someone, who seemed to be kneeling down and unsure of what to do, resigned.
'Who's talking to him?' asked Liliana, curious.
Even so, Liliana didn't know what the two were talking about. To Liliana's surprise, the man in armor slashed the man's neck and made blood splash forward, covering Caleb's clothes.
Liliana was in shock, dropping the items she was carrying while stepping back with bulging eyes. Her mouth gaped and her hands reflexively covered her mouth in shock and horror.
'He killed another player again?' asked Liliana, rounding her eyes.
Caleb kicked Nord's body and left him lying on the ground beheaded. Leonidas lifted Nord's severed head and showed it to Caleb, Caleb was no longer shocked —he was used to it.
"What are your orders?" Leonidas asked Caleb.
"Go with the heavy scout unit to the south, take Nord's head and throw it at CL_Ellise's town hall," Caleb replied.
"Don't get into a fight with them. If they pursue, return immediately. Do you understand?" Caleb ordered.
"I understand."
Leonidas stepped up to the heavy scout unit and left with them to the south. Caleb saw that his clothes were stained with Nord blood, he turned around and stepped into the town hall.
Liliana crouched down with both hands on her head, not wanting to see and remember that horror again.
"Is Caleb a bad person? Is he planning something that I don't know about?" asked Liliana, panicking.
In the end, Liliana tried to act normal after settling her heart. She must not show any suspicion to Caleb. After all, their friendship was so important, Liliana must not ruin it.
"Calm yourself Liliana. This is a survival game. They must be doing this. I have to be strong!"
Just as she was calming down, Caleb surprisingly called out to Liliana. Caleb knew Liliana's whereabouts as the woman's location was close to the town hall's range area.
"Liliana?" asked Caleb, leaving the woman in shock.
"C-Caleb?" greeted Liliana back, turning her head.
"What are you doing here?" asked Caleb, squinting.
"N-Nothing. I'm just...." said Liliana, stuttering and fidgeting.
Caleb looked down, seeing the item Liliana was carrying. The man picked up the item and handed it to Liliana.
"Your item dropped. Don't get too close to my town hall, your boundary is the behind the Infantry Camp."
"If you go any further, my defense mechanism will activate and target you as an enemy. Do you understand?" asked Caleb.
Liliana nodded, picked up her belongings and strode away from the area back to her town.

Caleb was still curious and suspicious about Liliana's strange behavior just now. He looked back and was able to confirm that the view from that place was quite clear towards the city.
"Did she see it?"
