Chapter 23: Battle of Midnight

There was nothing else for Caleb to do, he returned to his town hall and rested to sleep.

He was sure there wouldn't be any stupid players who wanted to attack him on a night like this, especially since they all knew what Caleb's capabilities were.

He closed his eyes and let the system detect him offline to rest. That way, he could sleep soundly.

30 minutes passed, Caleb finally fell asleep and the system detected his player status as offline.

Not only Caleb, but many other players choose to sleep as it was the only way to pass the time, especially when there was unit production, building construction, or technology research.

By sleeping, time will feel fast when you wake up later. That's what Caleb thought.

Even though the players were asleep, the city defense mechanism was still working properly.

Just as the clock hit 1 midnight, Caleb was fast asleep undisturbed, but his town hall began to activate its defense mechanism.

[WARNING!]

[Enemy attacking our building!]

The sound of sirens echoed in the town, making Caleb who was sound asleep immediately wake up and get up.

To his shock, a red notification panel appeared before him, warning of an enemy attacking the buildings in RustyAxe.

'What? Someone attacked my town?' Caleb asked, shocked.

He opened the game map and saw that there were 7 red dots attacking the outpost in the east. Still, the small number made the Town Hall's defense efficiency maximum.

Caleb left the town hall, seeing that the 7 enemy troop units were militia. Caleb smiled a bit while shaking his head, there was no way such a militia unit could destroy his town.

Even so, Caleb remained vigilant. He sent his Heavy Scout to attack the enemy unit, after all the Heavy Scout would easily defeat them.

From the battle panel, Caleb saw that the enemy unit that attacked him was Great_Dao's unit. The man squinted, thinking that Great_Dao was crazy to challenge him to a battle.

Caleb looked at the clock on the player dashboard, it was almost two in the evening. It took another two hours before the First Swordsman production unit was finished.

"Should I use the First Swordsman as a reinforcement unit?" Caleb asked.

The advantage of this war was that it was conducted at night, and then Great_Dao's army units were only infantry units.

All players of this game know that infantry were weak against cavalry, but they were strong against archers.

On the contrary, cavalry was weak against archers, but strong against infantry. With the number of units of Caleb's army balanced, it seemed that the war would go well tonight.

'He's becoming an annoying player. It's not good to keep him alive,' said Caleb.

He gathered all his infantry and cavalry units, there were a total of 36 infantry consisting of 10 militia units, 16 Light Swordsman units, and 10 First Swordsman units.

Not only that, there are 16 cavalry consisting of 15 Heavy Scouts and 1 Scout. For now, there was only a Heavy Scout as one scout unit was outside the city area —exploring the fog.

Caleb divided his 51 troop units into three small troops, the first troop was filled with militia with their task being to destroy the palisade wall, the second troop was filled with cavalry whose task was to kill all enemy troop units, and the third troop was Light Swordsman and First Swordsman with the task of destroying the town hall.

[ENFORCEMENT INFO]

[Commander:]

[1. Leonidas (S Class)]

[Units:]

[16x Light Swordsman]

[10x Militia]

[10x First Swordsman]

[15x Heavy Scout]

[Def Stance -> Agg Stance]

Caleb nodded, looking at commander Leonidas who will be in charge of leading the three troops. Even though the commander type was Def Infantry, the buffs were still useful for invasions.

However, Caleb had to try to find another commander fragment in the hope that the commander had an Aggressive type.

"Your orders, sir?" asked Leonidas, standing in his typical Spartan suit of armor.

"Destroy Great_Dao's town hall. Kill every unit of his army. Bring the player to this place alive," Caleb replied, firmly.

"We understand!" said Leonidas.

With a long march, they began to move in a neat and disciplined line towards the east of the city. A notification panel appeared, displaying their march time until they reached the Great_Dao region.

[Duration of March:]

[00:01:59:59]

Caleb nodded. He had no intention of going east, as it could endanger his life. He simply looked through the game map and zoomed in to Great_Dao's town hall.

With the march duration taking two hours, it was certain that when the battle took place there, the First Swordsman unit had been fully produced with a total of 20 units.

That unit would be used by Caleb as reinforcements, in case at any time the battle did not go the way he wanted.

The man returned inside the town hall and observed the war through the game map, watching as his troops slowly began to approach the area outside Great_Dao's town hall.

Two hours passed, Caleb's army unit was already outside Great_Dao's palisade wall. They destroyed the palisade wall and entered through the open gap.

Since the location of the palisade wall gap was close to the enemy unit, Great_Dao's builder would not be able to repair it.

[DING! Congratulations that the troop unit has been produced]

[Player reaches >10000 Kingdom Power]

Not only the notification panel about the troop units that had been produced, Caleb saw that he had another achievement given to him by the system.

The achievement could be used as a form of achievement for a player. Caleb had things to display the achievement to the public, either in the form of a title above his head or the listing of his award on the lord's profile.

But leaving that aside, Caleb again stepped out and placed his First Swordsman unit at the front of the town hall, as well as changing their stance from idle stance to Agg Stance.

"Now, let's take a look at the situation in Great_Dao's town hall," Caleb replied, opening the game map page and seeing his troop units begin to defeat one enemy troop unit after another.

[One incoming message!]

[Sender: Great_Dao]

[Kingdom Name: Demonic_Sect_666]

[Hey, what are you doing? You're destroying my place. I don't want to fight with you]

The message came to Caleb, the man immediately opened the player's inbox and read the contents of the message from Great_Dao.

The contents of the message were asking Caleb for forgiveness, asking Caleb to withdraw his troops from Demonic_sect_666's territory.

[Sender: Great_Dao]

[Kingdom Name: Demonic_Sect_666]

[What have I done to make you want to go to war with me? Did I make a mistake? If that's the case, let's talk and stop everything.]

[I don't want to die!]

[Please, Caleb. You are a player that I respect. I will obey everything you say from now on!]

Caleb shook his head. He threw the messages into the trash and focused on his army unit that was attacking another player's city.

It was still night, but light shone brightly from the flames that appeared in Great_Dao's town hall. The battle status panel appeared, indicating that Caleb's army unit had killed troops and destroyed enemy buildings.
