Playboy: Medical and Martial Master-Chapter 350 - 345: Lin Wua
Sun Zhe reached out to take the White Jade Ring from Su Nanzhi, slowly closing his eyes as he attempted to connect his Divine Sense to it. The next moment, a sharp pain shot through his brain, as if a steel needle had suddenly been driven into his temple. Before he could even scream, his mind went blank, and he lost consciousness completely.
It was unclear how much time had passed. When Sun Zhe regained consciousness, he found himself in a daze, looking upon a vast expanse of land. The land floated unsupported in a boundless white void, yet it was incredibly stable. It was covered in lush, beautiful grass and strewn with fallen blossoms, a paradise beyond this world. After a while, he slowly opened his eyes. His body swayed, and he nearly collapsed.
Su Nanzhi hurriedly reached out to support him and asked with concern, "Ah Zhe, are you alright? For the last few minutes, you looked like your soul had left your body. What happened?"
Sun Zhe rubbed his temples and smiled. "I'm fine. It's just that this Storage Treasure consumes a massive amount of Divine Sense. Just that one connection nearly drained my Divine Sense dry."
Slightly relieved, Su Nanzhi asked curiously, "So, did you discover anything?"
Sun Zhe then briefly described the land he had just seen.
Su Nanzhi was astonished. "From your description, this doesn't sound like an ordinary Storage Treasure. It's beyond our conventional understanding. A normal Storage Treasure is just a Sumeru Space with very limited capacity. It couldn't possibly contain a paradise."
Sun Zhe nodded, looking at the Ring in his hand. "After connecting my Divine Sense to it, I have a very peculiar feeling… it's as if this thing is a part of my body."
"Then hurry and see if you can put something inside and take it back out."
"Alright."
...
After several attempts, Sun Zhe gradually got the hang of it, smoothly storing and retrieving items. For a moment, he was like a little boy with a new favorite toy, fiddling with it constantly and wanting to put everything he saw inside.
Su Nanzhi felt rather helpless. "You men are all so childish."
"Nanzhi, you can go look around for a bit. I'm going to study that book."
"Oh, got it."
After giving Su Nanzhi a few instructions, Sun Zhe returned to the outer stone chamber. He sat cross-legged on the bed and took out the Beast Skin Book to begin reading. The first few pages weren't about swordsmanship, but rather the autobiography of the book's owner. Sun Zhe read patiently, bit by bit, and soon became completely engrossed.
「A long time passed.」
Su Nanzhi walked into the stone chamber, holding a pile of small objects. "What are you reading so intently?" she asked curiously.
Sun Zhe closed the book and smiled. "I'm reading this senior's autobiography."
"Autobiography?"
"Do you want to read it?"
Su Nanzhi walked over to sit down, lightly tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I'm too lazy. Just tell me about it."
Sun Zhe thought for a moment, then said, "This senior's name was Lin Wua. He was an incredibly powerful swordsman several hundred years ago. According to his bragging, he was practically invincible for a hundred years."
Su Nanzhi nodded. "And then?"
"Then he brought his wife here to live in seclusion and even adopted a Black Kui," Sun Zhe continued. "But later, his wife left him due to some family matter and never came back, leaving him here to grow old and die alone. He also said he was never able to take that final step, and he rests here for eternity, his lifespan depleted."
Su Nanzhi sighed. "How pitiful."
Sun Zhe added, "As for this swordsmanship called 'Lin'ao,' it was created by him after mastering the strengths of many different styles. It was with this swordsmanship that he roamed the world unrivaled."
"That's truly amazing," Su Nanzhi praised.
"This sword is named 'Dragon Slayer,'" Sun Zhe went on. "According to the senior's autobiography, it can pierce a dragon's scales. It was originally hung in a well in Kyoto to suppress a dragon, but he stole it and forged it into the sword it is today."
Su Nanzhi smiled. "This senior was quite an interesting character."
Sun Zhe's tone suddenly became serious. "Now for the important part!"
"What's the important part?"
He gave her a mysterious look. "Just as you suspected, this Ring is no simple Storage Treasure. Living beings can enter it."
Hearing this, Su Nanzhi's beautiful eyes widened in shock. "Really? Isn't that a bit too much?"
Sun Zhe shrugged. "That's what his autobiography says, anyway. I don't dare try it just yet, though. I'll find some small animals to test it on later. He also mentioned that the Ring wasn't originally his. He found it by chance in some ancient ruins within a Spirit Realm."
Su Nanzhi stroked her chin, pondering. "In that case, this Ring truly has an extraordinary origin. And that Priest you mentioned earlier is probably after this Ring, or maybe your sword."
Sun Zhe said earnestly, "At the end of his autobiography, the senior wrote that if a fated person in a later generation were to receive his inheritance, they must uphold justice. The greatest of heroes serve their country and their people! And his inheritance must never fall into the hands of those with wicked hearts."
Su Nanzhi was filled with respect. "This senior had a grand vision. He was a true hero."
"That Priest is clearly not a good person, so his inheritance cannot fall into her hands," Sun Zhe stated.
Su Nanzhi glanced at him. "So that makes you a good person?"
Sun Zhe chuckled softly. "What's the matter, President Su? Do you have an objection?"
Su Nanzhi scoffed. "I can't be bothered with you."
Noticing the trinkets in her hands, Sun Zhe changed the subject. "Looks like you made out pretty well, too, with all those bracelets and baubles. You've cleaned out Senior Lin's entire family fortune."
"Hehe… just a few little things."
Sun Zhe scratched his head, looking a bit sheepish. "Nanzhi, why don't you take this Ring for now? You can use it later. We found these treasures together, so we should split them evenly. I got the sword and the Sword Manual, so you should take something too."
Su Nanzhi covered her mouth and laughed delicately. "Mr. Sun, you really are quite a nice person. It's alright, there's no need for us to be so formal. Besides, these little things I took are pretty nice. If you really want to give me something, you can just give me some Elixirs after you learn how to make them."
"Definitely," Sun Zhe promised.
Su Nanzhi said, "We should pack up and leave soon, before those people you mentioned find us."
But Sun Zhe shook his head with a smile. "You don't have to worry about that. The senior wrote in his autobiography that this Cave Mansion is covered by some kind of Array. Unless led by the Black Kui, no one can enter. We were brought in by the Black Kui, so the Array doesn't restrict us, and we can come and go as we please."
"I see."
Sun Zhe took the Black Kui's Inner Core from his pocket. "Nanzhi, let's absorb this Inner Core together."
"Okay."
