Chapter 86: Forgotten By The World

After entering a sect, one could only take a few attendants with them if they paid the necessary fees, so Song Liangxue kept Song Ying with her.

The rest weren’t needed, so she thanked everyone for accompanying her and sent them back to the Song Clan.

Left alone, Ye Jun and the others entered the city from a different entrance. Mountain accompanied them since he had nothing to do except munch on some fruits.

They knew they would gather attention, so they didn’t enter through the gates. Instead, they simply jumped over the walls, easily bypassing the barrier.

Soon, they found themselves standing near the Eastern Market, or rather the downside of it. The section where poor people set up their stalls and shops.

Even then, the market was bustling as always. Nobody cared if someone had died here a month ago. Death was way too common for these people.

Ye Jun paused, looking at a distant spot where Su Yunfei usually set up his stall. He could still hear Su Wan’s cheerful voice ringing in his mind.

’Big Brother, do you know why father values this place so much?’

’I do not.’

’Psst! So dumb!’

’Want a beating?’

’Hehe! It’s an auspicious place. We always earn more when we set up our stall here.’

Unfortunately, that day the stall wasn’t on their auspicious spot. Ye Jun wondered if things would have been different if they had set their stall on that spot.

’Have I lost some brain cells? I’m even believing these stupid things. It would have happened regardless.’

Meihui held his hand and smiled warmly at him. "Their souls will rest in peace. Don’t worry."

"Something happened?" Mountain asked. "You look sad. Incredibly sad."

"I’m also curious," Song Liangxue asked, frowning. "What happened here?"

Instead of answering them outright, Ye Jun took them to that one place he was very familiar with, the home of the only people who had shown him some kindness.

When he reached there, he found a few workers building someone’s home. A man stood before them in fine silk robes, giving instructions.

Ye Jun clenched his fist as his eyes turned cold. He took a step forward, but Meihui stopped him. She pulled him back and turned toward Song Liangxue. "Can you hold him back for a moment?"

"Sure." Song grabbed his hand and said, "I do need an explanation though."

"You will have it," Meihui muttered before going toward the man. With a fan folded in her hand and her fine posture, she made a perfect young master.

"I wonder how you acquired this land," she asked in a manly voice.

"Hmm?" The man quickly evaluated her appearance before smiling. "I bought it, of course. Are you interested in it? I’m open to selling it for a good price."

"I see, so you chose lies," Meihui’s voice dropped. Her fan snapped shut and along with it several red lines appeared on the man’s neck. "I won’t ask twice."

The man gasped in pain and fell backward, his eyes filled with fear, as he asked, "W-Who are you?"

"I asked something." Meihui looked down at him, a blood-red scar forming on his cheek.

"I-I... it’s not my land!" the man cried out and explained everything in one breath. "A half-legged man lived here before, but he offended someone and died, so I thought it was a good opportunity and put my claim on it."

He gasped. "What does it matter? They’re dead anyway."

Meihui’s hand threatened to do more, but she just looked away and said, "Leave. If I see you here ever again, I will make sure your nine generations remember my name."

"M-Many thanks, Young Master," the man was elated and bowed repeatedly before running off. Seeing his actions, the workers also ran away.

Meihui sighed and went back to Ye Jun. "Just some opportunist."

Ye Jun nodded and said, looking at the half-done structure, "I’ll break this."

"Will do this," Mountain said, pocketing his fruits. "This looks serious."

Ye Jun felt complicated looking at the structure. It reminded him how insignificant the Su Family was to this world. Not even a month had passed and everyone had already forgotten them. If he had come a few days later, he would have found a new home in their place.

There would be no traces of them left in this world. Completely forgotten. As if they had never existed.

Yet they meant a lot to him. He couldn’t forget them. He didn’t want to.

’I won’t let this world forget them too. They were great people, people who deserved all the happiness of this world.’

He calmed down and explained everything to Mountain and Song Liangxue. They simply listened to everything attentively. When he stopped, Song Liangxue’s entire demeanor had changed.

Cold winds picked up around her. Her frosty gaze seemed to freeze everything in sight. There was no emotion on her face, just a purely chilling expression.

"Pathetic lowlanders!" Mountain spat out the fruits he was chewing. "Won’t even spare a kid. Ulankar would never let such men live. Punishable by Fallen Death."

Song Liangxue took a step forward, but Ye Jun caught her arm and said, "Calm down."

"I’m not doing this just for you," Song Liangxue said. "The North is my clan’s domain and we would never house such lowly people, let alone give them such esteemed status. If my grandfather learns of this, their entire clan would be eradicated."

"I want that too, but try to understand the situation," Ye Jun said. "It’s useless. The one who did this is dead and they can deflect the blame too. We don’t have any proof."

He turned back to look at the structure, or rather what remained of it. Mountain had already gone there and demolished half of it in seconds. The man was like a natural disaster packed inside a giant humanoid body.

Ye Jun could understand how he killed so many Spiritual Beasts.

"I don’t need proof," he continued. "I will take revenge for every crime they have committed. It has already started and it will only worsen for them from here on."

He gripped her hand tightly and said, "So leave them to me. If you really want something to do to the culprits, I can give you some ideas."
