Picking Up Attributes In Martial World-Chapter 73: The End Of Martial Exchange
Meihui got startled at his question, but then she realized what she had been doing and felt shame rising within her. Did she really pity the same people who had made Ye Jun’s life hell?
She couldn’t even look into Ye Jun’s eyes, nor could she bring herself to lie. "I-I..."
"No need to panic," Ye Jun smiled at her. "I don’t blame you. I actually expected it from you."
Meihui felt even more panicked hearing that. She didn’t even know why, but the thought of Ye Jun being disappointed in her scared her. It hurt her deeply.
’Why am I so stupid?’ she cursed herself. ’Why would you feel pity for such monsters?’
"Stop your thought process! We’ll talk later," Ye Jun lightly knocked on her head and turned toward Song Liangxue. "Thanks for protecting me."
"Didn’t you just say you’re marrying into my house?" Song Liangxue spoke in a teasing tone. "As such, it’s my responsibility to protect you. I’ll always protect you."
’This girl! I knew she wouldn’t let it go,’ Ye Jun’s lips twitched. "Then thanks in advance."
"My pleasure," Song Liangxue bowed lightly.
Ye Jun shook his head and turned toward the Envoys, only now realizing that only the two of them were acting normally despite everything that had happened. Even Meihui had been affected by it, just like everyone else.
Well, there was also Han Yuexin, who hadn’t lost her smile for even a second. As if all of this were just a play for her, and she had come here merely to enjoy it.
She really seemed like an oddball.
Ye Jun turned toward her and showed his space bag. "I’ve collected plenty of Beast Cores. So, do we proceed with the counting?"
Seeing the others still silent, Han Yuexin stood up and walked toward them. "I’ll do the counting for you."
Ye Jun nodded and handed her the space bag. He had already transferred the inheritance items into his other space bag, so only the Beast Cores remained in the first one. Though, he had taken out the Tier 3 ones.
’No way I’m giving those away.’
The Beast Cores that would be counted belonged to the sects, after all.
Han Yuexin was quick, as she only needed a brief glance to count everything. She smiled in delight and said, "I’m surprised. This is a lot more than I expected."
She turned toward the other Envoys and said, "A whopping 1320 points."
A collective gasp could be heard as all eyes once again fell upon Ye Jun. Even Xie Yan was surprised to hear that. She hadn’t crossed the thousand mark, and that was considering her clan’s help as well.
Tang Haoren felt the same as he glanced at his own space bag. He tried counting again and still couldn’t cross the thousand mark. Cursing inwardly, he looked away.
And this was the case for the top contenders, let alone the other participants. Most of the rogue participants simply sighed but didn’t think much about it. They had already expected such results.
"Hahaha!"
Laughter erupted from the rogue participants’ side as a giant of a man walked out, chewing on some black berries. He popped another one into his mouth and said in his unique accent to Ye Jun.
"You’re a good one. More than a hundred from me. Only managed to get eleven hundred. This win is yours."
Tang Haoren’s eyes almost popped out upon hearing that. The others had no better reaction. It was one thing to be surpassed by an anomaly like Ye Jun, but now even a random cultivator with no background had earned more points than them.
Ridiculous.
They consoled themselves by thinking that the only reason he had gotten ahead was because he hadn’t participated in the treasure hunt. Still, it hurt their pride.
"Mountain! What a surprise!" Ye Jun exclaimed. "Damn! You actually hunted a lot. Wait! Would it be more if you hadn’t eaten some of those?"
Mountain stopped laughing and scratched his head. "Right. I ate them. Even gave some of them to you. No matter! Eating is more important!"
He laughed again.
Ye Jun couldn’t help but laugh as well. "Want to join me in the same sect?"
"That is something he would decide!" Gang Feng shouted, then turned toward Mountain. "Come to the Iron Frost Sect. It suits people like us, and I promise to give you many resources."
"Hmm. You seem like someone who fights a lot."
Gang Feng nodded eagerly. "Yes, yes, we do. So come join us."
"Uhh, don’t like fights. I prefer eating!" Mountain shook his head. "Will join you, little guy."
Ye Jun gave a thumbs-up and said, "Don’t worry. I’ll show you my cooking later. It’s not like yours, but I’m sure you’ll like it."
"No worries. I don’t expect anything. You lowlanders can’t make good food," Mountain waved his hand dismissively. Then he took out his space bag and handed it to Han Yuexin.
She quickly counted, her eyes glistening in surprise. "A total of eleven hundred and forty."
"Mine also," Meihui handed over her space bag as well.
Everyone’s ears instantly perked up. Even the other Envoys paid close attention to her points, since they had seen her killing two Peak-Grade Tier 2 Spiritual Beasts all by herself.
In their eyes, Rong Hua was undoubtedly the strongest of this batch.
Han Yuexin looked up after counting, her smile widening even more. "A total of 1789 points."
Many were taken aback even though they had already expected the number to be huge. The difference between first and second place was so massive that they had never seen anything like it in previous Martial Exchanges.
In fact, this was the first time someone had crossed the fifteen-hundred mark.
Ye Jun glanced at Meihui, who didn’t show any reaction to her points. It was normal, since she didn’t consider this any sort of achievement. It was beneath her.
The Envoys counted the others’ points as well, and the results came out just as expected. The first place went to Rong Hua, second to Ye Jun, and third to a rogue cultivator named Mountain.
Fourth place was occupied by Xie Yan with nine hundred and thirty points. Tang Haoren took fifth place with nine hundred points. Then the other members of the three main clans followed, along with the rogue cultivators.
But in the end, everyone noticed how low the Ye Clan ranked compared to the others. If it hadn’t been for Ye Chen’s collection, they would have scored far less.
They all understood one thing from this result.
From this day onward, the Ye Clan would slowly fade into obscurity unless they somehow created a miracle. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
The Martial Exchange had ended in their complete defeat.
