Picking Up Attributes In Martial World-Chapter 72: Regret
The position of Young Master was a cage for Ye Jun, something that had been protecting him until now, but it was also the reason for most of his suffering. He had long thought about throwing it away, as he hated it.
However, he needed its protection, so he couldn’t do it.
Things were different now. He had finally gained his freedom. Finally, he didn’t need the protection of that title anymore, so it was of no use.
Above all, he wanted to let the Ye Clan know that he was throwing it away because it was trash to him. He wanted them to believe he had handed his garbage over to them.
And seeing their current faces, full of rage as if they couldn’t wait to throw him away, he felt pure satisfaction. It made him happy.
’Sadly, I can’t see Ye Chen’s face.’
Ye Zhong clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white, as he uttered, "You will regret this. Mark my words."
Walking forward, he stopped right in front of him and whispered, "Right back at you. You’ll regret leaving me alive all those years when you killed my mother."
He smirked. "I’ve already made sure your bloodline won’t continue through Ye Chen. That also means he can’t become the Young Master. Heh, he can’t even pick up my garbage."
"You..." Ye Zhong’s veins popped up on his forehead. "You’re right. I should have killed you. I would have killed you if your grandfather hadn’t stopped me."
"And now I’ll make sure you regret that every day," Ye Jun whispered softly. "Also, don’t think I’m done with my little brother. No matter where he goes, he’ll see my shadow tormenting him."
Ye Zhong stared deeply into his eyes, the flames of fury burning fiercely within them. It was surprising that he managed to contain his anger.
He raised his hand and announced, "Then, from this day onward, I, Ye Zhong, the Eleventh Patriarch of the Ye Clan, exile you from the Ye Clan. You no longer belong here."
Then he snorted and walked away. If he stayed even a moment longer, he was sure things would spiral out of control.
Ye Jun tapped his chest lightly and thought, ’You can rest easy. I’ll make sure they regret being born.’
He was about to walk back toward Song Liangxue and Meihui when his body suddenly froze. An overwhelming killing intent washed over him as a looming death approached him in less than a second.
Before that death could reach him, a cold wind rose like armor around his body, erasing the killing intent completely. Then he saw a blur move past him. That was all he noticed before blood rained down onto the arena.
A head flew across him as a headless body dropped behind him. The severed head held crimson-red eyes full of rage as it hit the ground like a ragdoll.
Deathly silence enveloped the stadium as Song Liangxue materialized a short distance away. She flicked her blade, and all the blood slid off it. The blue blade was once again a pristine sword.
She returned it to its sheath and said calmly, "I already gave him a warning."
"Heng!" Ye Zhong shouted, his eyelids trembling. He quickly rushed to the body and looked at it in horror. "Why did you do that? Why, you fool?"
The Grand Elder felt his breathing falter as he slowly turned toward Song Liangxue and asked, "Was it really necessary?"
"Look at his eyes before questioning me," Song Liangxue replied calmly. "They’re red. Not to mention his veins were bulging. Do I need to explain what those signs imply?"
The Grand Elder didn’t reply. He simply turned toward his brothers, one now dead and the other weeping under the weight of immense loss. Then he lowered his head in shame, wondering if all of this could have been avoided.
"Demonic Berserker Technique!" Patriarch Xie gasped in shock. "Ye Heng was actually practicing demonic techniques in secret."
Hearing his words, Ye Zhong scoffed in disdain at the hypocrisy. All of them knew one or two demonic techniques like these, as they could be used in life-and-death situations. The only reason they were classified as Demonic Techniques was because of their severe side effects.
Even if Ye Heng had not been killed, the usage of such a demonic technique would have affected his cultivation greatly. That was the cost of a short burst of power.
Ye Zhong picked up Ye Heng’s head and placed it beside his body. He understood why his brother had done it. The man only had one son and no one else in his family. That loss had driven him mad.
He didn’t blame him.
But the rest of the world would. He knew it.
Song Liangxue walked toward him and asked, "Do you still blame me for killing him?"
"No. My brother chose the wrong path, and as the Guardian of the North, you have the responsibility to vanquish all demons," Ye Zhong admitted. "None of us knew about it, so I hope you show us mercy, Young Miss."
This was the best outcome he could hope for, even if it required him to humble himself. Otherwise, his entire clan could be persecuted for being associated with a demon.
"Rest assured. I will not harm any innocents," Song Liangxue said. "But my clan will have to investigate your clan, especially anything related to this man."
"I understand. But I hope you will allow me to give him a proper funeral. It’s against the rules, I know, but he was a good brother to me," Ye Zhong said earnestly. "That is all I ask."
Looking down at him, Song Liangxue nodded. "Very well. You are excused. For better or worse, you were my father-in-law, so that’s the least I can do."
"I’m grateful." Ye Zhong bowed before taking Ye Heng’s body and leaving the silent stadium behind.
Even now, people could hardly believe what they had witnessed. So much had happened in a single day. In just a few hours, the Ye Clan had gone from one of the strongest clans in Bright Star City to such a feeble state.
The change was so shocking that many could hardly believe it.
Ye Jun watched everything with indifference. Then he noticed Meihui looking in the direction Ye Zhong had gone and asked, "Are you feeling pity for him?"
