Chapter 2010: Chapter 2011: I’m Not Afraid of Gossip

An Yiqing smiled and said, "Since you’re here, stay for a meal. It’s almost time for lunch."

"Thank you, Uncle Qing." Wang Wenya responded gracefully and obediently, giving a particularly pleasant feeling.

"Sister Wenya, what were you talking about with Brother Yun earlier? Big Brother Qing and I came to eavesdrop." Gong Le leaned in front of Wang Wenya and asked, holding her hand.

Before Wang Wenya could speak, An Yiyun, lying on the bed, chuckled and said, "Who eavesdrops so openly like you two? Alright, Lele, stop teasing Wenya. She takes things seriously."

Gong Le said, "I wasn’t teasing, I was serious too."

An Yiyun found it even more amusing.

Wang Wenya pressed a handkerchief to her lips and smiled, exuding the composed and refined demeanor of a well-bred lady.

Gong Le looked on, clicking his tongue in wonder, "Sister Wenya, you’re always smiling without showing your teeth. Isn’t it tiring?"

"This..." Wang Wenya didn’t know how to respond. Although her mother Li Wuyu was straightforward, it wasn’t her mother who taught her; her grandfather had someone specially teach her, fearing she would have the same personality as her mother.

In her view, this was normal and appropriate. She didn’t find it tiring. She had been like this since she was young. She genuinely didn’t understand why Gong Le would ask such a question.

"Lele, I’ve told you she’s different from you," An Yiqing pulled Gong Le back to his side, letting Gong Le sit beside him, "Everyone has their own way of life. Don’t bully your Sister Wenya."

"I wasn’t bullying her; I just thought it looked tiring to be like that. It’s much better to be like me, happy every day." Gong Le said with a silly smile.

An Yiqing just found it amusing, "Wenya doesn’t feel tired. Right, Wenya?"

Wang Wenya nodded. Gong Le couldn’t understand her, and actually, she couldn’t understand why Gong Le was that way. Just like she couldn’t understand why her mother liked to be straightforward and enjoyed martial arts. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Fearing Gong Le might still be fixated on whether Wang Wenya was tired, An Yiqing deliberately changed the topic, asking with a smile, "Fourth Brother, are you feeling better today?"

"A bit better."

"Second Brother sent a letter, saying he would come to Imperial City to see you after finding Qingyi."

"Oh." An Yiyun’s eyes dimmed.

An Yiqing noticed his demeanor, hesitated for a moment, and couldn’t help saying, "Don’t overthink it."

An Yiyun shook his head and said, "I’m not overthinking. I know you all care about me." Pausing, "I’m the one making you worry."

An Yiqing patted his hand in comfort, saying, "We don’t have any other wishes, just that you could be a bit happier."

It was precisely because they wanted him to be happier that they allowed him to continue being an official.

An Yiyun didn’t say anything more and just nodded.

Gong Le suddenly asked again, "Sister Wenya, you still haven’t told me what you were talking about with Brother Yun earlier?"

Wang Wenya smiled slightly, "Nothing really, just casual talk."

An Yiqing and Gong Le didn’t stay long with An Yiyun and left soon after. For a while, only An Yiyun and Wang Wenya were left in the room.

An Yiyun looked at Wang Wenya, who sat there obediently. He let out a barely audible sigh before saying, "It’s almost lunchtime, you should go to your Uncle Qing’s courtyard, to avoid rumors."

Wang Wenya clutched her handkerchief, lowered her head, and said so softly it was barely audible, "I’m not afraid."

She wasn’t afraid of gossip.

An Yiyun understood but still said, "I’m afraid."

Wang Wenya’s heart ached slightly, and she pressed her lips tightly, saying nothing more.

An Yiyun also felt uncomfortable inside but still gently urged, "Go. Be obedient."
