Path to Becoming the Greatest Space Mercenary-Chapter 464 A Date with Liesel (2)
Soon the entire room that Avery and Liesel were in had completely changed.
Walls adorned with beautiful tapestries and intricate artwork appeared, and over a hundred people dressed in fancy though somewhat archaic clothing appeared.
The setting of the story that the two of them would be playing through as the female and male leaders took place on a world that was yet to advance beyond rudimentary technology.
It was a somewhat played out setting, but a classic for a reason. A chance to go back and play in a time long past that at least the worlds of the Dramid Alliance had long since left behind.
Everything other than Avery and Liesel were merely a projection of light, so they held no weight, but it was still possible to play out roles within the story.
For this setting, Avery and Liesel were taking the places of the main characters who were star-crossed lovers from rival houses. An old story that had been used time an time again, but a fun one nonetheless.
Avery had specifically chosen it due to their own circumstances, and because he thought it would be fun.
Neither he nor Liesel were the completely passive types, and this story included plenty of battle scenes that they would be able to partake in.
However, before they got to anything else, there was the opening ball that would have the two of them dancing.
"I'd be remiss to lose out on the chance to dance with a beauty such as you. So long as you would be willing to have me?" Avery said, recounting the line that he male lead typically said, word for word.
Liesel looked a bit embarrassed to say the sappy words of her own part, but she pushed herself through.
"I'd be happy to accept the hand of a gentleman such as yourself. Out of everyone here, there is no partner that could be better."
With their lines exchanged, Avery and Liesel took each other hands and began dancing.
There was no real pattern to their steps, the two of them simply let loose and let their feet take them where they would.
Thanks to their enhanced bodies, the two of them were able to move quickly and turn themselves into the center of attention. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
The other people in the story were programmed to turn their attention on the female and male leaders, but there was some variance that the system of the holotheater allowed to increase immersion.
Still, all eyes of the NPCs were locked on Avery and Liesel as the two of them simply enjoyed themselves.
Neither of them had had much experience in a situation like this, but it was still exhilarating.
Both of them stepped in close and moved quickly. With Liesel mostly following Avery's lead but sometimes letting her own rhythm take hold and bringing him into the way that she wanted to move.
Regrettably, this intense opening scene of the story could not last forever. Eventually, the two of them were forced to separate as the music ended, and the crowd clapped for their performance.
Although it was not originally part of the script of the actual narrative, Avery felt inclined to kiss Liesel here. The system was capable of accommodating some changes after all. So long as they did not try to force the story incredibly far from its original intentions, the artificial intelligence of the holotheater would be able to accommodate.
Liesel wore a steamy expression on her face when Avery pulled back his lips from her own.
This was honestly a far more romantic date than she had been expecting. She had figured that she and Avery would just spend some time together around the ship.
Yet, to completely blow past her expectations, he had prepared all manner of romantic events for the two of them. Perhaps trying to make up for how long he had kept her waiting.
As the story progressed, the two of them ended up separated from each other, before ending up being reunited during a battle.
While they were on opposing sides initially, when they came face to face against, they joined forces together and created a third force to fight amongst their families.
It was a bit novel to fight with simple metal swords and firearms that relied on gunpowder for propellants, but both of them got some enjoyment out of the settling.
In the end, the two of them fought through their families' differences and were able to end up together.
There were a lot of stories with similar themes that ended up with the two leads either dying or having to run away together in disgrace, but Avery felt a true happy ending would be more enjoyable.
Thankfully, his idea had worked wonders, as Liesel was clearly very satisfied with the first part of their date by the end of.
"I can't remember the last time I did something like that and had so much fun. There was a single holotheater on my aunt's ship, but I was always forced to play a supporting role for my cousin whenever I had the chance to use it."
"I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I had fun as well." Avery said, the smile on his lips nearly as wide as Liesel's.
Naturally, they were not done yet.
Avery had made sure that his schedule was clear so that he could spend the entire day with Liesel.
The first few hours had been taken up by playing parts in a holomovies, but that was far from all he had planned.
"I've made sure that the officers' lounge is free at this time. There's a picnic waiting for us in the conservatory."
Avery held out his hand towards Liesel, and when she took it, he dragged her along to their next destination.
At the officer's lounge, the two of them enjoyed a delectable meal surrounded by beautiful foliage and ambient sounds of nature.
Avery asked Leisle more about herself and told her about his own past before becoming a mercenary.
If they wanted to become closer, it was imperative that they knew more about each other. So, Avery did not hold back. Even telling Liesel about some of the embarrassing parts of his life that he would have rather no one else known.
