Chapter 414: Chapter 414 The Arrival of a Pest

"I’m sorry to barrage in while the two of you are taking a break, but there is something that I must inform you of."

Ciphilolia came into the room that Avery and Jasmine had been using to test which items they wanted as the main dishes during the wedding reception

Since they had already completed all of the major tasks required of them, they were resting a bit before going to get changed into the clothes that they planned to wear during the ceremony.

At a glance, her expression and demeanor were neutral, but Avery had gotten fairly good at judging what people were thinking since he had started working as a mercenary. It was something necessary for negations and understanding opponents in a sight.

’Her eyes are a bit more closed than usual and her lips are slightly pursed. Whatever news she had brought us inset good, and she’s obviously personally upset by it.’ Avery thought as he analyzed Ciphilolia’s appearance.

Of course, he had no idea what it was exactly she was here to tell them. He had not developed the ability read people’s minds. Well, not yet at least.

Still, when she revealed the information, it was more aggravating than they were expecting.

"What do you mean Bastion is here?! I thought that mother made sure he was not invited!"

Jasmine shouted, clearly upset that the man who had spread nasty rumors about her and Avery and clearly wanted to ruin their wedding was present.

While a majority of Azade’s senators had been invited out of courtesy, the more troublesome ones had been excluded. This included Bastion Cuach for obvious reasons.

"Yes, he was excluded from the list of people that received invitations. However, one of the other senators brought him along as a guest." Ciphilolia said, shaking her head apologetically.

Naturally, Regina had been informed of his arrival and had sent Ciphilolia to politely ask him to leave. Yet he had remained obstinate and stated that he would be attending the wedding.

Unfortunately, the person that had brought him had a high degree of influence within Azade’s senate, and other members of their faction had arrived to support Bastion and criticized Regina for asking a member of the senate to leave.

"Right now, your mother is personally mediating and hoping to come to some sort of agreement, but it is not likely she will be able to do much with the amount of support that Bastion has gathered around him."

This was certainly an unexpected and aggravating situation.

Avery was upset, but Jasmine seemed livid. Most likely she thought that she was finally done with dealing with Bastion’s torment. But after failing to get his way, he had now come to their wedding to throw a final tantrum.

’I could probably get rid of him easily, but it wouldn’t be discreet. Maybe if I had a similar power to my mom’s I could do it without anyone knowing it was me. All I can do though is see the flow of energy and there’s no way I can ask my mom to do this considering the trauma behind her ability.’ Avery thought as his mind raced for a solution.

He had gone to violence first, perhaps as a result of the profession he had wound up in. He fought for a living, so when a problem presented itself, often times he considered how to deal with it using force.

Regrettably, this was one of the times that he could not just crush the opponent and be done with it.

Bastion was not some space pirate that could be easily exterminated without problems with the law.

"Which senator brought him here?"

From the way Jasmine had practically growled as she asked this, it was apparent that whoever had aided Bastion in crashing their wedding was about to be considered an enemy by Jasmine.

"It was Senator Bruite. He’s close with Bastion’s parents. And while we don’t have all of the information, it is likely that Bastion begged the other senator to bring him along or possibly even made a deal regarding some upcoming measures that are being voted on."

Ciphilolia did not know the exact motivations of those involved, but her speculation was probably correct or at least close to the truth.

Nevertheless, the reasoning did not matter. Someone that Jasmine hated was going to be at her wedding, and that was enough to enrage her.

"Want me to go break his legs or something. If he can’t walk, he won’t be able to come to the ceremony."

Avery’s words were meant to be taken in jest and cut through some of the tension. Except, Jasmine responded positively to the suggestion.

"Yeah, that would be nice. How about we do it together. I’ll take his right leg, and you can take his left." Jasmine said, standing up with a fury in her eyes.

Seeing that she was actually considering going through with this, Avery grabbed her arm and held her back.

"I was obviously not being serious. If we do something like that, it’s going to create a big headache for us and your mom. The wedding might actually get cancelled then."

"Fine, you’re right. Do you think that Ezra would be willing to pay a fine and spend a few days in jail for us. I bet he could easily toss Bastion out of a window or something." Jasmine said. Clearly having decided that it was not a problem to harm Bastion so long as it was neither of thema actually doing the dead.

Thankfully, before Avery had to try and steer Jasmine away from this line of thinking that he regretted bringing up, Ciphilolia interjected. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"Lady Jasmine, I would ask that you refrain from committing any crimes. Whether by doing them yourself or through a proxy. Even if he is unwanted, a high-profile individual like Bastion Cuach being harmed here would damage the chancellor’s reputation. Also, there is no need for any acts of violence. I just received a communication from Lady Regina. The matter has already been resolved."
