Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife-Chapter 1505 - 317: The Food You Cook Is Too Awful!
"Do you remember we went out together a few days ago? You sang for me in the KTV for more than two hours. Do you know, Nan Tian, your singing is truly the worst I’ve ever heard in my life, bar none."
An Yiqing placed the new dishes on the table, removed the ones that had gone cold, then sat by herself on a chair by the bed, smiling gently as she recalled with Nan Tian the experiences they had shared.
"Although your singing was terrible, at that moment I was thinking, what immense strength must be contained within this girl’s body to let her slender frame produce such a powerful voice? Nan Tian, do you know? In my heart, you have always been magical; you can make the people around you happy."
An Yiqing glanced at Nan Tian, who still lay curled up on the bed, motionless, unsure whether she was listening or not.
"You know, I’m actually quite envious of you. Although your parents passed away early, you have a grandfather who truly loves you. Even though the old man protects you in some peculiar ways, you can’t deny he genuinely loves you like an ordinary grandfather would love his granddaughter. Nan Tian, I have been an orphan since I was little, not knowing who my parents are, let alone if I have grandparents. My master said he found me in the ice and snow, and if he had arrived a step later, I might have frozen to death. I used to wonder why my parents didn’t want me, why my family discarded me; at that time, my longing for family surpassed everything."
An Yiqing seemed to be lost in her own memories, not noticing that Nan Tian’s breathing had become slightly heavier.
"For those nineteen years, having my master accompanying me, I actually had a pretty good life. The old man genuinely treated me like his own granddaughter, never letting me feel wronged. But, you know, there are some emotions no one can replace. Every time I see other elderly people playing with their little grandchildren on the street, I feel so envious. So, Nan Tian, I envy you; I envy the fact that you had a grandfather who cared for you throughout your life. Even if he hit or scolded you, even if he frowned at you sternly, he still cared for you."
"A few days ago, I secretly visited the Nan Family. Old Master Nan has become skin and bones, but the first thing he told me when he saw me was to find you. Nan Tian, your grandfather is really pitiful right now."
Nan Tian’s body was a bit stiff, with a slight tremble. An Yiqing looked at her with relief, realizing that this girl, who had endured so much hardship, still held onto the love in her heart, still cared for her grandfather.
An Yiqing stopped talking, picked up a bowl of porridge from the table, scooped a spoonful, and gently blew on it.
"Nan Tian, eat; even if you don’t want revenge or to save your grandfather, you still need to eat well to have the strength to shout at the top of your lungs, don’t you?"
Nan Tian didn’t move, her slight trembling turning into a violent shake. An Yiqing held the bowl with one hand and extended the spoon to Nan Tian with the other, looking kindly at her head buried in her knees.
Slowly, Nan Tian’s stiff body moved, unfolding itself. She didn’t lift her head, still hanging it low, seemingly afraid that An Yiqing would see her ugly appearance.
"What haven’t I seen you look like? You’ve put me through quite a lot these days. Listen, lift your head and eat properly. Once you’re full, I promise I’ll cure you."
Nan Tian’s body stiffened for a moment, seemingly struggling and hesitating in her heart. Finally, she timidly raised her head, revealing her horrendously marred face. She looked at An Yiqing with fear, as if expecting to see disdain or fear on her face. Yet, in An Yiqing’s eyes, there was only gentleness and encouragement, nothing that she couldn’t accept.
Nan Tian was unsure how she felt at this moment; when she opened her eyes after enduring countless hardships, the first thing she saw was An Yiqing. Nan Tian knew her friend had gone through a lot to find her. To her, An Yiqing was no longer just a good friend; she was Nan Tian’s support, the most important person in Nan Tian’s life.
"That’s more like it; the Nan Tian I know was always audacious and unruly. I allow you to be weak, but you must quickly return to being the cheeky girl who dares to speak her mind."
Nan Tian’s decaying face twitched, as if forming a smile. She shifted her gaze to the bowl of rice An Yiqing held, swallowing hard.
"I knew you couldn’t resist, you little glutton!" Nan Tian’s expression made An Yiqing feel a sense of relief, she laughed out loud. She stirred the porridge with the spoon again and lifted a warm spoonful to Nan Tian’s mouth.
Nan Tian did not open her mouth; she swallowed and stared blankly at An Yiqing, her eyes holding a hint of...complexity.
"Why aren’t you eating?" An Yiqing asked, puzzled. She looked at Nan Tian, then the porridge in her hand, then back at Nan Tian’s eyes, which seemed to hold back words, and suddenly, her face turned dark!
"This is a recipe I came up with myself, made by the Yu Family’s chef! It won’t poison you!" An Yiqing said through gritted teeth. Damn, wasn’t it just that her cooking was a bit bad? Even when this poor girl had been tormented like this, she was still being picky!
Nan Tian let out an unnoticed sigh of relief, her eyes dodging An Yiqing’s gaze, but her mouth was not idle and she swallowed the entire spoonful of porridge.
Feeling the pain in her throat, Nan Tian furrowed her brow and worked hard to swallow the food.
"Your throat is severely damaged; eating will be uncomfortable these days. Hang in there; when the medicines arrive, I’ll treat you immediately." Seeing Nan Tian’s discomfort, An Yiqing gently comforted her.
Nan Tian nodded, trembling slightly, and reached for the documents that had been placed on the bed.
