Chapter 532: Chapter 535: Thomas Shannon, you stop right there!

Sophie Sullivan grasped his neck frantically. "Answer me."

The man pried her hand away with one hand, brought it to his lips, and gave it a light peck. "You tell me first, and then I’ll tell you what you want to know."

In the end, she couldn’t win against him.

Sophie Sullivan deflated. She lowered her eyelids, her tone completely devoid of the frantic anger from moments before. "I lost my memory."

"I know." Thomas Shannon gently rubbed her smooth cheek.

Sophie Sullivan continued, "My name is Sophie Sullivan."

"I know that too."

Sophie Sullivan grew angry. She lifted her eyelids abruptly, and deep within her beautiful eyes, two clusters of flames flickered, burning fiercely. "You know everything, so why are you asking me?"

"I was waiting for you to confess to me—when you remembered your name, and how much you knew about your own background."

Thomas Shannon stared at her intently, not allowing her the slightest hint of avoidance or evasion.

Being stared at by his cold eyes, she felt a crushing sense of defeat, as if he had seen right through her, as if he had already thoroughly unearthed the secrets buried deep in her heart.

He had seen everything clearly long ago.

Sophie Sullivan took a deep breath. "I’ve known for a long time that my name is Sophie Sullivan. There was a subconscious awareness in my mind, a particularly strong recognition of those words. But I only know my name, nothing else. Everything I’ve said is true, whether you believe it or not is up to you." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"How long ago?"

"Shortly after you brought me back to the manor."

Thomas Shannon’s lips curved. That really was quite early.

Sophie Sullivan’s soft hand clutched the neckline of his robe, her eyes, for once, showing obvious nervousness. "Thomas Shannon, I’ve told you everything you wanted to know. Could you promise me one thing?"

"Let’s hear it."

"Regardless of what happens to us in the future, you have to promise me you won’t involve my relatives."

The hand gripping the neckline of his robe tightened.

She was nervous.

More precisely, she was afraid.

Thomas Shannon’s gaze darkened. He mostly understood now why she had been so resistant to confessing.

It was probably because she was afraid he would hurt her family.

"Fennie, I didn’t realize you were such a filial child."

Sophie Sullivan stared into his eyes and stubbornly asked, "Don’t change the subject. Can you promise me?"

"..."

"Two words for ’I will,’ three for ’I will not.’ You choose."

Before, he had given her two options. Now it was her turn to give him two.

Choose one out of two. It shouldn’t be too hard, right?

"Are you in such a hurry for a promise because you already have a plan to flee?" Thomas Shannon asked, a cold smile playing on his lips.

Sophie Sullivan subconsciously shook her head. Then, suddenly feeling dishonest, she nodded.

Thomas Shannon gritted his teeth in anger. "Is it, or isn’t it?"

"It is." Sophie Sullivan nodded. "The truth is, yes!"

"I knew it!" Thomas Shannon sneered. He pried her hand from the neckline of his robe and abruptly sat up.

"Truly an ungrateful wolf that can’t be tamed."

With those words, Thomas Shannon furiously threw back the thin quilt and got out of bed.

"Thomas Shannon, where are you going?"

The man ignored her, striding out.

A strong voice screamed in Sophie Sullivan’s heart: she couldn’t let him go, she couldn’t just let him walk away like this!

He hadn’t promised her yet. He hadn’t promised her he wouldn’t hurt her relatives.

She couldn’t just stand by and watch him leave.

"Thomas Shannon, stop right there!"

Thomas Shannon grabbed the door handle and, SWOOSH, pulled the door open.
