Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 529 - 532: Raina Bell wasn’t hurt by me, I have no reason to lie.
"Thomas Shannon, if you have a hearing problem, you should get it treated sooner rather than later. Don’t let your condition worsen."
The moment she finished speaking, Thomas Shannon’s hand shot out, grasping her chin and shaking it punitively. "Am I going to have to say it, or will you tell me yourself, like a good girl?"
Neither option was particularly favorable to her.
Sophie Sullivan instantly regretted her vague words. How could he possibly have heard that?
No, that wasn’t right. Sophie immediately dismissed her previous thought.
He’d known her name for a long time; he was just waiting for her to confess. No matter how vaguely she’d spoken, he would have been able to recognize it.
So, he was simply waiting for her to admit it herself.
As the saying goes: confess and be treated with leniency; resist and face severity.
He gave her two options, letting her consider them carefully.
Sophie was torn. Should she tell him or not?
Her eyes appraised Thomas Shannon. He watched her calmly, his demeanor unhurried and composed.
It was as if he was certain she would confess.
Sophie had no confidence in him.
During the time they had spent together, she had, more or less, come to understand the kind of person he was.
When he treated someone well, he would let them do as they pleased.
But once his feelings for that person changed, they could only await their fall from paradise into hell.
His moods were unpredictable, his emotions inscrutable.
That was the best way to describe Thomas Shannon.
She couldn’t be sure: if she were truly honest with him, and if she later angered him, would her family be implicated because of her?
Sophie’s silence made the smile on Thomas Shannon’s lips freeze.
He knew it. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
He knew she wouldn’t confess.
If it weren’t for her nightmares, even she herself wouldn’t have realized she’d revealed her own name. He probably really wouldn’t have known what she was called otherwise.
Sophie lowered her eyelids. "I’ve finished eating."
She rose and turned to leave.
Behind her, Thomas Shannon’s irate voice called out, "Stop right there! Make yourself clear before you go."
Sophie kept her back to him, lightly biting her lower lip. "In any case, I wasn’t the one who hurt Raina Bell. I have no reason to lie."
With that said, Sophie quickly walked away.
This time, Thomas Shannon didn’t try to stop her.
「Medical Office.」
After receiving first aid, Raina Bell was taken to a room where a nurse attended to her.
A few hours later, the anesthesia wore off, and Raina awoke.
Her gaze flickered around, landing on the nurse and then Minimus Hart.
She called out faintly, "Sister Minnie..."
Minimus Hart looked at the nurse beside her. "You can go out for now. I have a few things to say to her."
"Alright." The nurse stood up and left the room.
The door opened and closed, and finally, the room was quiet.
"Sister Minnie..." Raina’s voice was extremely weak. Her face was still pale, her lips were dry and peeling, and her head was wrapped in layer upon layer of gauze, with faint traces of blood seeping through.
Minimus Hart raised a hand, cutting her off. "Tell me, who allowed you to go upstairs?"
Hearing the question, Raina guiltily lowered her eyes. "...It was me."
"You’ve got some nerve!" Minimus Hart was furious. She pointed a finger at Raina’s nose and scolded, "Have you forgotten what the Young Master said? Or did his words just go in one ear and out the other, completely forgotten?"
Raina felt incredibly wronged. She had only sneaked upstairs while the Young Master was away because she just wanted to do something helpful for him.
She hadn’t expected... to encounter Sophie, who had suddenly returned.
