Chapter 507: Chapter 510: Don’t Let Me Down

Sophie Sullivan could only watch as he raised the pistol with one hand and, using all his strength, threw it fiercely in her direction.

THUD.

The pistol landed precisely at her feet. Her body stiffened, and she stared at him, unmoving.

She couldn’t even bend down to pick up the pistol at her feet.

"Thomas Shannon, you bastard..." Her heart ached terribly. Sophie could only watch helplessly as he sank deeper and deeper.

She was powerless; she didn’t know what else she could do.

Nor did she know what she could do for him.

She couldn’t bear to watch him be swallowed by the quicksand.

She didn’t want him to die.

She didn’t want Thomas Shannon to die.

At this moment, numerous scenes flashed through her mind—all the things that had happened since she first met him. His kindness to her, his cruelty to her, she remembered it all. Weighing his deeds, and setting aside the bad, he had actually been quite good to her.

Even now, in such a perilous situation, his first thought was how to get her out of danger, not how to save himself.

For that alone, Sophie felt she would forever be in his debt, a debt she could never repay.

Thomas Shannon was still smiling, the corners of his mouth lifted in a charming arc. His deep, cold eyes were filled with laughter, indulgence welling up from their depths.

He was smiling, looking at her with a doting expression. "Maniac, after you leave this desert, George Stanford will heal your face. Then, you can go wherever you want. They won’t stop you, nor will they give you any trouble. That supplementary card I gave you before—keep it. It will guarantee you a life without worries."

"Enough, Thomas Shannon! Shut up!"

Sophie raised her hand to wipe away the tears streaming down her face. She was about to run toward him recklessly.

"Maniac, stay right there! Don’t come over!" Thomas Shannon’s pupils constricted sharply as he roared in a low voice.

Sophie wiped her tears. She pulled at the corners of her lips, forcing a smile, and said, enunciating each word, "Thomas Shannon, I can’t just stand by and watch you die."

If we are to die... then let us die together.

Just as her foot was about to step into the quicksand, a fierce tiger lunged, tackling her to the ground.

The great tiger roared to the sky, its paws pinning her shoulders, immobilizing her.

"Maniac, are you okay?"

Sophie, caught completely off guard by the pounce, was knocked to the sandy ground, her head spinning and seeing stars.

Hearing Thomas Shannon’s words, she managed to reply, "...I’m fine."

The tiger stared straight at her with its big eyes. Sophie’s heart suddenly pounded with fear. Was it really going to eat her?

The tiger’s massive head lowered slowly. Finally, the ferocious beast nuzzled her like an oversized cat, its head marked with the distinctive royal pattern.

Sophie was speechless.

She must have encountered a fake tiger.

"Get off me!" Sophie gasped, nearly suffocating under the tiger’s weight. Didn’t it realize how heavy it was?

The tiger howled, glanced at Thomas Shannon, then pressed down on Sophie again, pinning her.

It wouldn’t let her move.

Frantic and furious, Sophie craned her neck, desperately trying to see past the tiger’s massive body to Thomas Shannon.

However, its body was too large, completely blocking her view.

"Thomas Shannon, how are you?"

"Maniac, listen! The pistol is to your right. Pick it up now! If it tries to hurt you, shoot immediately. I know you’re a good shot; don’t disappoint me."

The tip of her nose prickled again, and the tears she had managed to stop began to pour down once more.
