Chapter 725: Chapter 717: I Want You, I Want You, Just Want You (Three)

...

"Miss Niannian is back."

"Miss Niannian, have you eaten?"

"I have." Ji Anning rubbed her temples and walked straight towards the stairs, then something occurred to her, and she stopped to ask the servant who had just spoken to her, "The gentleman from today—the one who was giving Mr. Charles an infusion—has he left?"

She had forgotten all about that throughout the day.

"That young man has already left, just as you wished, I took Ji Mingyue away for her."

The voice of Charles suddenly came from upstairs.

Had Doctor Xiang already left with the young lady?

Upon hearing this news, Ji Anning subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief. She looked up at the second floor where Charles stood with his hands clasped, forever maintaining a regal posture.

She smiled generously and said, "Thank you, Mr. Charles."

But Charles suddenly straightened his face, looking at her seriously, "In a few days, you’ll become Mrs. Charles; afterward, do not casually appear in public with other men."

He had people following her.

The first thing that flashed through Ji Anning’s mind was a touch of resentment, but upon reflection, considering Charles’s unknown darker side, it was quite normal for him to have her followed.

Thinking this, she nodded and replied to Charles, "I’ll remember all this and will be mindful in the future. I’m going upstairs to rest now."

Charles pursed his lips, which was as good as giving his consent.

Ji Anning began to ascend the stairs when suddenly another familiar female voice came from upstairs.

"Uncle, I’ve finished it."

As Ji Anning climbed a few steps, her movement was interrupted once again by the voice. She looked up to see a tall woman in a goose-yellow tracksuit, holding two red folders, walking up to Charles and stopping by his side.

Looking down, the woman caught a glimpse of Ji Anning and then turned her gaze back to her.

The scrutinizing gaze bore no surprise—instead, the corners of her mouth curled into an intriguing smile.

"Miss Niannian."

The woman spoke, and only then did Ji Anning smile lightly, "Miss Korea."

She had indeed forgotten that Korea once told her that Charles was her uncle.

After a greeting, Ji Anning continued walking upstairs. Seeing that the two knew each other, Charles said with a smile, "Since you’re acquainted, I won’t need to introduce you."

Korea replied with a gracious smile, "Yes, Miss Niannian and I have met many times. We’ve had meals and drinks together; Miss Niannian’s drinking capacity is quite impressive."

As she spoke, she cast a meaningful glance at Ji Anning, leisurely crossing her arms with the two folders now tucked in her embrace.

Charles responded with slight surprise, "I seem to have never had a drink with her."

"I am no match for Miss Korea," said Ji Anning as she reached the top of the stairs. She nodded slightly to them and added, "I’ll be heading back to my room now, goodnight."

Her pace barely halted; after a brief pause, she continued on her way.

Korea’s lingering gaze followed Ji Anning until she entered her room.

When Ji Anning pushed open the door, she caught a glimpse of Korea, noting she was being watched, but she didn’t acknowledge it and entered her room.

After being bothered by Fenfen all day, now back in her room, in this temporary space of her own, shrouded in darkness, she didn’t want to turn on the light, didn’t want to face the loneliness.

Guided by her senses, she moved forward, reached the edge of the bed, sat down, lay down, and stretched out her limbs, forming the shape of a star.

Her eyes, wide open, stared at the pitch-black ceiling.

"Knock, knock, knock."
