Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 693 - 685: We Are Close Uncle and Nephew (Part 13)
While lost in thought, Ji Ming Yue fell off the bed. Standing beside the bed, Charles, hands tucked into the pockets of his crisp trousers, looked down from above at Ji Ming Yue as she crawled towards Ji Anning, his demeanor composed.
Dragging her frail body inch by inch closer to Ji Anning, Ji Ming Yue was filled with hatred and resentment.
"Little aunt." Ji Anning was startled by Ji Ming Yue’s reaction; it took her a while to come to her senses. She quickly rushed over and bent down, intending to help Ji Ming Yue up.
However, before she could touch Ji Ming Yue, Ji Ming Yue swung her hand and clawed at her face, bellowing furiously, "You ungrateful wretch, I’m going to kill you."
Ji Anning was bewildered, unable to comprehend why Ji Ming Yue hated her so much.
Ignoring the pain from the scratch on her face, she looked up perplexedly at Charles, thinking he must know the reason.
Charles merely looked at her with a smile, offering no answers to the doubts in her heart.
"Give me the gun," Ji Ming Yue suddenly crawled to Charles’s legs, hugging his leg, trying to stand up.
Charles looked down, glanced at her faintly, and then bent down, his hands sliding under her armpits to lift her up.
Ji Anning stared at Ji Ming Yue’s completely useless legs, stunned.
"This..."
"Don’t do anything foolish."
"Bang!"
Ji Anning heard Charles gasp in shock, and before she could react, a gunshot rang next to her ear. She felt something whizz by her so quickly that she couldn’t even catch it in her peripheral vision. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
In that instant, she was completely frozen.
After the gunshot, silence followed, so quiet that they could clearly hear their own heartbeats.
Upon hearing the gunshot, Ji Chicheng rushed into the room, his staggered footsteps nearly making him crash into the wall. Seeing the bullet hit the wall behind Ji Anning, his mouth agape, he leaned against the wall.
Unknowingly, his forehead was covered in cold sweat like beads.
"Let me kill her, I want to avenge my father." Ji Ming Yue was stopped by Charles from shooting Ji Anning; he had wrestled the gun away from her. She flung herself at Ji Anning, clinging onto her, refusing to let go.
Unable to stand on her legs, she embraced Ji Anning’s body tightly.
Ji Anning staggered backwards, still not recovered from the initial shock.
Suddenly, a tall figure rushed over, scooped up Ji Ming Yue, restrained her, then shouted at Ji Anning, "Ji Anning, get out of here now!"
This familiar voice woke her up. Ji Anning turned her head to see Ji Chicheng had carried Ji Ming Yue back to the bed, but he couldn’t calm her emotions and had to hold her down with his hands.
Turning to see Ji Anning still standing there, he frowned, "Didn’t you hear me tell you to go?"
Only then did Ji Anning fully snap back to reality, seeing Ji Chicheng’s angry face, she bit her lip and nodded.
Unable to speak, she took a few steps back and then turned and ran out quickly.
"Mommy!"
Suddenly, Fenfen’s childish voice came from ahead. Ji Anning quickly pressed her lips together, stretching her hand to wipe away the tears of self-pity.
After all that had happened with Ji Ming Yue, she ought to feel guilty, what was there to feel pity about? Yet, she felt unbearably stifled inside.
Fenfen spread her arms and ran joyfully towards Ji Anning, hugging her legs, "Mommy, hug, I missed you so much."
The little one, already able to say a lot of words and with everyday clearer articulation, Ji Anning looked down at her tender little face and smiled, bending down to lift her up.
