Chapter 640: Chapter 632: The Weight of a Father’s Love (Part 1)

"If Grandfather doesn’t want to give it, why should Ji Jingfeng take it away?" Ji Anning lifted an eyebrow coldly, then continued, "Grandfather could choose to give it to Ji Xiangting or Ji Ruoqian, even to my little aunt. Why must it be Ji Jingfeng? I’m not a fool. You want to use me to force my uncle to take over the Ji Family, to take over J.C. You tried two years ago and it already failed. Do you really want me to cooperate with you again, to hurt him once more?"

"Just for your indelible pride and your love for anything associated with him? Are you really determined to impose upon my uncle what he doesn’t want?"

"In truth, I don’t believe you love my uncle all that much. What you truly love is his mother."

Ji Anning’s words were heavy, sharp in their every phrase.

It seemed as though she had hit the nail on the head regarding Ji Zhengdao’s feelings, the old man’s face turned ugly for quite a while before he angrily asked Ji Anning, "So have you made up your mind to be with Chicheng no matter what?"

On the second floor, the man had just reached the staircase, heard the familiar voice of the old man, his foot poised to step down paused, then retracted quietly.

He was more eager for Ji Anning’s reply than the old gentleman who had asked the question, even somewhat nervous; his hands, secreted in the pockets of his trousers, involuntarily clenched into fists.

"Yes, come rain or shine."

Ji Anning nodded without hesitation, she said, "I can forsake the world. I will seclude myself abroad with him and never return to this country again. That is the only condition I can agree to for you."

As she spoke, she paused for a moment to gauge the old man’s reaction, then went on, "I hope, Grandfather, that you won’t make any more meaningless attempts to stop us, especially not on Fenfen’s account. Please, don’t have any schemes involving her, or even if you are... my uncle’s own father, I won’t be polite to you."

Her attitude was clear, firm, and assertive.

Having said her piece, she no longer looked at the old man and stepped onto the staircase.

...

"Uncle, why aren’t you sleeping?"

Ji Anning gently pushed open the door to the rest area and saw Ji Chicheng sitting on the couch, looking down at his mobile phone. She frowned and asked with a hint of reproach.

Then she closed the door behind her and walked towards Ji Chicheng.

Ji Chicheng raised his eyelids, his gaze casually swept over Ji Anning, and as she approached him, he put down his mobile phone and stood up to meet her.

Opening his arms, he embraced her.

Encircled tightly by his long arms, Ji Anning was surprised by this hug.

It even left her somewhat astonished; she looked up.

Seizing the moment, Ji Chicheng leaned down and kissed her forehead gently, saying nothing yet conveying so much.

"Uncle."

After being startled for quite a while, Ji Anning also wrapped her arms around Ji Chicheng’s waist, her cheek pressed against his chest, and whispered, "Thank you for loving me so much. Thank you for being so infatuated with me."

Moved, she felt a sourness in her eyes and sniffled, on the verge of tears.

Suddenly, Ji Chicheng pushed her away, his brow furrowed as he examined her face, "Have you no shame?"

"What?" Ji Anning’s cheeks flushed, and clutching her fists, she raised them and punched Ji Chicheng’s shoulder twice.

Then she lifted her head again, looking earnestly at Ji Chicheng, "Just now, Grandfather and Ji Jingfeng came by. You should take Fenfen and stay at a hotel for now, instead of here. This place isn’t good for Fenfen, and with the news of my father’s death possibly reaching the media, and your current scandal with Qi Helian making headlines, I think it’s better not to change the news story."
