She immediately gave up struggling and snuggled obediently into Ji Chicheng’s embrace.

Ji Chicheng chuckled softly in her ear, "If I left, your Chanel No. 5 would have been sprayed in vain."

Anning looked up in surprise, "How did you know it’s Chanel No. 5?"

Ji Chicheng raised an eyebrow, "Didn’t you say you didn’t spray any?"

Anning: "..."

He was clearly teasing her on purpose. She puffed up in anger and turned her face away, "A lady’s perfume, and you can even discern the model—quite the connoisseur."

Her tone was full of sourness.

This greatly entertained Ji Chicheng, who stretched out his hand to pick up a shrimp from the plate on the table and brought it to Anning’s mouth. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Anning dodged to the side, "I don’t want to eat it."

"Eat."

In a commanding tone, Anning, like a child, did not dare to resist and hesitantly opened her mouth.

Chewing with disinterest, Ji Chicheng watched her face, somewhat lost in thought.

After a long while, he regained his focus and reached for another shrimp, asking, "So on the award stage, were you looking at me?"

Anning didn’t catch on to what he was asking and looked at him doubtfully, "What?"

Ji Chicheng didn’t respond but changed the subject, "Did you feel something poking you?"

"What..."

Anning was stunned and, seeing the smirk in Ji Chicheng’s eyes, she quickly understood, her face turning red down to her neck.

She shyly avoided his gaze, and he suddenly reached out, grasping her slender wrist, and whispered in her ear, "Wait a month, then I’ll come to settle the score with you."

His deep voice, like a bass drum, made Anning’s heart flutter for a long time.

By the time she collected herself, he had already picked her up and walked to the bedside. Just as she was getting wary, Ji Chicheng suddenly tossed her onto the bed.

Then he turned around and walked heavily to the door. Seeing that he was about to open it, Anning nervously reminded in a hushed tone, "Uncle, check if there’s anyone outside."

Ji Chicheng acted as if he hadn’t heard, just pausing for a moment before quickly slipping out.

There was no sound from outside, and Anning breathed a sigh of relief.

She withdrew her gaze and glanced at her computer on the writing desk, suddenly recalling Ji Chicheng’s question: So on the award stage, were you looking at me?

She was momentarily surprised, then her lips curled into a smile.

Yes, I was looking at you... it was always you, only you.

...

Having promised Jin Yuanyuan to go jogging together, Anning got out of bed as the sky was just beginning to show the first light of dawn, even before the old man who usually woke up the earliest had gotten out of bed.

Only a part of the servants had woken up and were tidying up on the first floor.

"Miss Anning, why are you up so early?"

As Anning came downstairs, she ran into Auntie Wu coming out of the dining room. Auntie Wu was surprised when she saw her.

’Shh’—afraid to disturb the people sleeping upstairs, Anning gestured to Auntie Wu to lower her voice and also spoke in a hushed tone, "I’m going to school."

Auntie Wu asked with concern, "Aren’t you eating breakfast?"

"No, thanks." Anning smiled and shook her head, "I’ll buy something to eat at school."

"Anning."

Just then, the grandfather’s voice called out to her from the top of the staircase.

Anning paused and then looked up to see grandpa in his pajamas, standing there. She quickly called out, "Grandpa."

With a gentle smile on his face, grandpa descended the stairs and asked Anning, "Why are you going to school so early?"

Anning honestly replied, "I made plans to go jogging with a classmate."

Upon hearing this, grandpa immediately turned to Auntie Wu standing beside Anning, "Auntie Wu, go make her something to take with her."
