Nora Scott?
Rosa Sullivan glanced at the food in her hand, her expression slightly stiff.
*
"Uncle, how is it? Does it suit your taste?"
In the classroom, Benjamin Durant pulled out a chair, sat in front of Nora Scott, and looked at her with eager anticipation.
"...It’s alright."
After tasting a mouthful of the dish, Nora Scott slowly commented, not very enthused.
Benjamin said, "Humphrey specially made it for you!"
"I’m used to it," Nora replied casually, then frowned, "No tofu pudding though."
"..." Benjamin felt a little choked and had to coax her, "There’s no time today, but I’ll have Humphrey bring it over this afternoon."
This morning, Benjamin had some business to attend to, so he was chatting with Nora in the group chat and asked about the crew’s meals. Nora said it was hot and she had no appetite. Humphrey Jennings saw it. He spent the whole morning thinking of appetizers and practically pinned Benjamin down in the kitchen—hurry up and come up with a dish, or else you’re dead meat.
Benjamin was simply in despair.
Since Humphrey was preparing meals to be delivered, Benjamin thought he might as well prepare a grand gift to make an impression on the crew and give his uncle some face. So, he ordered the kitchen to whip up hundreds of meals, packed them all, and sent them to the crew.
Still, it didn’t satisfy Nora.
—All because of a bowl of tofu pudding.
There weren’t many people in the classroom, apart from Nora and Benjamin, only Henry Chapman, Katherine Collins, and Rosie Sullivan were there.
After seeing Nora dissatisfied with the carefully prepared meal and Benjamin still indulging her, Henry didn’t react much, taking it as usual, but Katherine and Rosie exchanged a surprised glance.
Upon thinking about it, it seemed that those close to Nora tended to spoil her unconditionally...
What a peculiar phenomenon.
Once Nora was appeased, Benjamin turned his head towards Rosie, grinning mischievously, "Rosie dear, how’s the food?"
"..."
Rosie kept her head down, shoveling food into her mouth, not responding to him.
The food was too good; she was too busy to reply.
Stretching his long legs out, Benjamin didn’t mind, taking out a folding fan and waving it gently, saying, "Your portion was made by me personally. Isn’t it so good that you can’t stop eating? It’s been a while since I cooked, but the master chef hasn’t lost his touch—"
"Durant."
Before Benjamin could finish boasting, Katherine suddenly called out with a cheerful tone, her eyes curving into smiles.
This was their first meeting, having just met, Benjamin was startled by the intimate address, shivered, and even his fan stopped mid-wave.
"Nora’s meal was tailor-made, Rosie’s was personally cooked by you. What about mine and Actor Chapman’s?" Katherine tilted her head, propping her chin with one hand, slightly disappointed, "Randomly thrown together?"
Benjamin was caught off guard by her words, paused for a moment, blinked, then suddenly leaned towards Nora, shielding them with his fan, and whispered, "Uncle, this girl is so clueless, should I get you a new assistant?"
With a stretch of the leg, Nora kicked Benjamin under the desk.
Benjamin cried out "Ouch" and almost fell off his chair.
"Uncle, I’m your real nephew you know." Benjamin pleaded.
Nora pointed her chopsticks towards Katherine, correcting Benjamin’s address, "Her, my sister."
Benjamin steadied himself, glanced at Katherine, and muttered speechlessly, "You have hundreds of sisters, how am I supposed to remember them all?"
Nora looked at him coldly.
Benjamin sighed, corrected himself, flashing a smile at Katherine, "Miss Collins, my apologies. I’ll make it right next time. What do you like to eat? I’ll remember."
"What I mean is, are you courting our Rosie?" Katherine said with a chuckle.
"Cough cough—"
Rosie was directly choked by her rice.
Katherine handed Rosie the drink on the table, patted her back, and continued to finish her sentence: "Showing respect to elders with a special lunch is expected. But what made you think of personally making a lunch for our Rosie?"
"..."
Benjamin was dumbfounded by the question.
Yes, why exactly!
Wasn’t it just because he thought that with Nora’s temperament, Rosie might be exhausted working for her, so he wanted to properly reward Rosie...?
However, reward aside, why did he have to cook it himself?
After drinking a couple of sips of water, Rosie recovered, quickly glanced at the bewildered Benjamin, and randomly came up with a reason to explain, "He wanted to show off his culinary skills perhaps."
Benjamin felt a bit annoyed with this reason—his culinary prowess was well-known, did he really need to show it off?! No, what’s there to show off?!
"No, when I’m courting girls, I don’t usually cook," Benjamin retorted, regaining his composure with reasonable logic.
