Overpowered Awakening: I Became Invincible With A Broken Talent-Chapter 198: Bomb
Marlon had never really gotten the chance to use the Lunar Charge skill, which he obtained from the lunar wolves at the beginning, until now.
The skill had become his major trump card alongside Aetheric Punch and several other useful abilities.
His overall Strength and Agility stats experienced an additional fifty percent boost on top of the concurrent boost from Aetheric Punch.
Also, he did not have to rely on clones or Aether Eater to refill his aether points, as under the moonlight, especially a full moon like tonight, he would not run out of aether points.
Beastamina also kept him energized. Despite having fought for hours and utilizing so many demanding skills, his stamina was still intact as though he had not even fought at all.
At the moment, he struck a horde of swimming sharkmen with Aetheric Punch, creating a powerful wave in the water that rippled rapidly across the entire area.
[ Level up ]
[ Level 292 --- 293 ]
He was now seven levels close to ascending to S-rank.
Marlon closed the window floating in front of him and transferred his attention to the only monster remaining, the giant octopus.
The eerie oceanic creature remained floating in the same position it had been in since its first appearance.
Thanks to Orion's warning, none of them had dared to attack it.
Nevertheless, now that it was the only enemy remaining, they all focused their attention on it, though no strike had yet been released.
Liora had returned to the ship to recuperate.
Solan, although experiencing a bit of sluggishness, remained.
He floated above the massive creature, observing it with intense focus.
Nox and Marlon floated close to each other.
The black-haired Vereena had a calm expression, the same as the human beside him, as the two of them watched silently.
They awaited Orion's telepathic message.
"I still cannot hack its mental sphere."
His voice finally came through.
Ever since night had approached, he had been using the boost from the moon to attempt access into the massive creature's mind, and after so many efforts, he had failed.
Marlon frowned slightly.
Even without [Inspection], he could already tell this aurax was either on the same level as the Feral Aurax and Dragon Taming Aurax, or perhaps even stronger.
"We can attack it now, right?"
Marlon said telepathically.
Thanks to Orion, a link had been created between all of them that enabled nonverbal communication, which had contributed greatly to their battle so far.
Solan and Nox turned toward the spaceship, awaiting their leader's response.
"There is no other choice."
Orion's telepathic voice came, but all of a sudden, it halted as though something was blocking it.
"Orion!"
Solan called out as he noticed something almost instantly.
On the hatch of the spaceship, Orion knelt, his hand grasping his head as though fighting back an intense migraine.
Solan turned into a wisp of inferno, ready to fly to the aid of his friend, when Orion lifted his hand and signaled for him not to come.
"It is trying to infiltrate my mind.." Orion shared, but his telepathic voice sounded broken and strained.
Yet just as the warning reached the three of them, the giant octopus suddenly made its first move since its appearance.
The entire Shadowfen River, vast and deep, shuddered as a wave of energy from the creature within it spread across the area in a rapid sweep.
The energy surged above the water, striking the three of them who floated above it.
Before they could properly react, the three of them were whipped back like ragdolls by the wave of energy.
It happened so fast, and the force with which they were being tossed was so overwhelming that they could not even adjust the trajectory of their landing.
The toss was so mentally disorienting that, as they flew, even Nox could not mentally control the void, Solan could not transform into an inferno wisp to reduce the damage, and Marlon struggled to activate any skill in that moment.
BOOM!
The three of them landed almost simultaneously.
Nox and Solan were more fortunate. They crashed into the massive body of water, creating enormous rippling waves as their bodies sank dozens of meters within a matter of seconds.
Marlon was not as lucky. His body clashed violently into the ship on the shore, destroying both the ship and his own body. He could hear the sound of bones breaking and flesh tearing upon impact.
And even more unfortunately.
BOOM!
The massive ship exploded afterward, sending intense heat and powerful shockwaves across a large region. Fortunately, there were no civilians inside. They had all been moved away by the hunters beforehand, anticipating that something like this might happen.
The only luck Marlon had in this scenario was that his body had already been buried within the dent created by his landing. As a result, the explosion occurred above him. Sadly, he still felt the burning heat against his body. It was unbearable, worse than he could have imagined.
Sovereign Crimson Physique began repairing his damaged body at a rapid pace. But instead of comfort, he felt even more indescribable pain as the restoration process took place.
As a result, he quickly summoned a mirror clone unit and gave them clear instructions. Half of the clone unit punched away the debris. One grabbed his battered body and flew him out of the wreck. When he was placed in a safer location, one of his clones clenched its fist and punched directly into his heart region, killing him.
As a result, [Deathless] was activated. His body repaired much faster than [Sovereign Crimson Physique], and thanks to his technically dead state, he felt no pain at all.
The process was rapid.
His eyes fluttered open. All the pain, mental strain, and even weakness he had felt were gone. He even felt slightly more energized, prompting him to check his HP and Aether Points. To his surprise, they were seventy percent full, compared to the fifty percent he usually recovered. This was thanks to his skill upgrade.
Marlon did not dwell on that thought for long.
He checked how much time remained before he could use [Prince Of Death] again. There were still about five minutes left.
He quickly attempted to access the telepathic link Orion had created, and fortunately, it was still active.
Through it, he instructed the Vereenas to stand down, as he saw no reason for them to risk their lives against the giant octopus.
Besides, once he activated [Prince Of Death] again, dealing with it would become far easier. All he needed was a successful [Absolute Death Strike].. or so he thought.
Nonetheless, there was no response from Solan, as though his link had been shattered, and only a weak one came from Nox.
The two of them were still trapped underwater.
"Trapped..."
Nox struggled to communicate telepathically. His voice sounded pained and far more unstable than Orion's had when his mind was infiltrated earlier.
Marlon quickly deduced the situation.
How could he have forgotten that the giant octopus seemed to possess some form of control over the Shadowfen River?
At that moment, Marlon shivered slightly.
What if he had been the one who landed inside the river?
He could have been trapped like the others, and in that case, the giant octopus might never have been defeated, as no one truly possessed the power to do so. Not the Vereenas, nor the Vice President of the Hunter Association, who was still unconscious inside the spaceship.
Speaking of the Hunter Association, he wondered where Axel Storm was.
The strongest hero should have displayed his prowess in such a situation.
Perhaps with his powers, everything would have been taken care of from the beginning, and there would have been far fewer casualties.
Yet not only had he not helped, he had not even made an appearance.
Why was that?
Had he left this to him as a chance to grow stronger?
Or was he away from Arden?
"H..elp!"
His thoughts were interrupted when Nox's telepathic voice called for help again.
Marlon levitated and flew to the edge of the shore, ensuring he did not enter the river, as it seemed to be the giant octopus's domain.
He summoned one hundred Death Clones in quick succession, forming a small army of shadowy soldiers behind him, which in a different situation and before a different audience would have been considered extremely imposing.
He sent his Death Clone army into battle.
His plan was simple. Use [Death Bomb] to reduce the attack power of the massive creature.
An indescribable scene unfolded as the Death Clones used their unique suicidal ability.
And Marlon received a result that was far more shocking than he had anticipated.
