Overpowered Awakening: I Became Invincible With A Broken Talent-Chapter 191: The Eagle
The beast taming aurax and the feral aurax were his first index-3 aurax opponents ever. Both were unique in their own ways, several times more powerful than the index-2 he had fought so far, and so were the true cores he had obtained from them.
These true cores were much bigger and had a soft golden glow shimmering from them. They were of different colours and sizes compared to the index-1 and index-2 true cores he had obtained thus far, radiating a denser and more refined aura.
He picked up the first one belonging to the beast taming aurax and at that instant, a strange energy coursed through his body. It was not hurtful, but the sensation could not be described with simple words. It felt ancient, heavy, and alive.
The Vereenas observed him keenly as he held the core firmly in his grasp, the look on their faces that of restrained curiosity. As they could not absorb the true cores for reasons only known to them, they could only watch and hope for Marlon to obtain something interesting from it. After all, the safety of the universe depended on him.
Unbeknownst to their thoughts, Marlon willed his body to absorb the core and it did without resistance.
[ You’ve consumed an Index-3 True Core. ]
[ You’ve obtained the following:
10,000,000 EXP
1 Talent Awakening Card (has been transferred to inventory)
900 Intelligence Points
100 free Stat Points ]
These were the highest units he had obtained so far. The experience points were even ten times what he would get from an index-2 true core, and the stat points were astronomical in comparison.
Yet his attention zoned in on the Talent Awakening Card.
He opened his inventory without hesitation and brought the card out.
The card appeared in his hands. It was golden just like the true cores, but it had no glow and was otherwise plain, almost deceptively simple.
A description panel was triggered.
It had the same description as the awakening crystal but with the exclusion of their activation mechanism.
Following the instructions obtained from the panel, he snapped the card in two.
It unfolded into a bright golden glow which lasted for a few seconds, illuminating his figure, after which both the card and the glow vanished as though they had never existed.
Marlon braced himself for pain afterwards, preparing for a violent backlash, but there was none.
Instead, a window popped up in front of him, signifying the success of his talent awakening.
[ Talent: Absolute Beast Taming (EX) has been obtained ]
[ Absolute Beast Taming (EX) A talent that instantly places you at the top of the beast taming profession. Your ability to tame divine beasts is stronger and much more effective than the average beast tamer and even at low level, you could achieve what higher-level tamers cannot achieve ]
[ You’ve unlocked the following skills ]
[ Ultimate Hatching (SS-rank, active) All divine beast eggs are hatchable no matter the rank or condition. With this skill and its current level, you have a 50% chance of even hatching monster eggs. This skill is not nerfed by time or natural process, a newly laid egg could even be hatched! ]
[ Grower (SS-rank, Passive) Your beasts grow 5x faster under your care. They gain 5x experience, learn skills five times faster, and evolve five times faster. ]
[ Tamer Blessing (SS-rank, Passive) Your charm towards divine beasts is divine. Even already tamed beasts could leave their master and become yours if you want ]
[ Beast Domain (SS-rank) A pocket dimension for all types of divine beasts. It contains both the essence of growth and the nutrition that any tamed beast would need. Within this space, the effect of Grower is doubled ]
Reading the skills he had just obtained, and even the description of the talent itself, gave him a subtle thrill and quiet motivation to try it out immediately.
He recalled the beast egg he had obtained from the hunter association, belonging to the Elemental War Eagle, one of the most valued divine beasts ever seen. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Usually, he would wait until he was in the comfort of his home or in the presence of his friends before utilising his newly obtained talents or skills, but those two no longer existed, and even time was not on his side at this point.
He brought out the unhatched egg from his inventory.
Its appearance made the Vereenas, except Orion and Nox, gasp in disbelief.
But he ignored their reaction.
He focused instead on the sensation he felt, the strong link that suddenly formed with the egg that had not existed before.
With a single thought, he used [Ultimate Hatching] and channeled his aether into the egg.
Afterwards, the cracks on the egg healed instantly, sealing themselves smoothly, and then newer cracks began to appear. These cracks bled with faint white glows that surged with each passing second until the egg finally cracked apart, finalising the process.
At that instant, a beautiful black bird appeared floating in the midst of a soft white cloud. It seemed to be in a sleep-like state as its eyes remained closed, its tiny body rising and falling gently.
Marlon reached his hand forward to gently carry the bird.
It was still small, about the size of a dove, fragile yet radiating a faint elemental aura.
Once resting in his palm under his careful observation, the hatchling’s eyes fluttered open, revealing a pair of beautiful multicoloured eyeballs that shone vividly with vitality.
Both eyeballs resembled spinning wheels of colour. Staring deeper, Marlon noticed there were four distinct colours, each representing the four basic elements.
Its eyes remained fixed on Marlon’s for a short time that felt like hours from Marlon’s perspective.
It seemed to register his appearance, memorising it instinctively, and then it let out a cute chirping sound.
To others, it sounded like any normal bird call, but to Marlon, it was telepathically translated into a tiny baby voice uttering the word, "Father." From its telepathic voice, it was male.
A small smile crept onto Marlon’s face, a sharp contrast to the cold expression he had worn earlier.
Before he could interact with his newly tamed beast further, Liora appeared behind him, gazing at the bird with admiration shining in her eyes.
"So cuuttteee.." she uttered in a charmed voice.
Her voice drew the attention of the hatchling as it softly tilted its gaze towards her. Just like with Marlon, it seemed to register her appearance briefly before letting out a small chirp.
"Mother?"
But this time, its tone sounded more like a question.
Marlon telepathically responded with a gentle, "No.."
Almost immediately, the hatchling’s eyes left Liora and focused back on Marlon’s before it let out another small chirp, this one clearly expressing hunger.
A surge of worry first appeared in Marlon’s mind as he wondered what he would feed his tamed beast, but then he recalled the description of the [Beast Domain].
He telepathically explained to the hatchling that he was sending it home where it could eat. Although it was still very young, its intelligence was already visible as it instantly understood. Without prolonging the separation, he sent it to the Beast Domain.
He heard a dejected sigh from Liora who was still standing behind him.
"You didn’t have to send it away so soon..." she complained softly.
Marlon’s expression returned to its previous calm state as he responded and told her it was hungry.
"It? You haven’t given your pet a name yet?"
"I will do it later..." Marlon responded.
"If you want, I can suggest some cool names fitting for an Elemental War Eagle..." she suggested, but Marlon had no need for that at the moment.
She left when she saw that he was not in the mood for conversation. She returned to Solan, who quickly inquired about the pet.
Orion remained floating on the spaceship, observing everything beneath with quiet patience.
Nox seemed unbothered by everything, as he was currently tossing pebbles in random directions with idle amusement.
As for Marlon, he picked up the last true core and consumed it.
[ You’ve consumed an Index-3 True Core. ]
[ You’ve obtained the following:
10,000,000 EXP
1 memory fragment
1 Blessing Upgrade Card (Has been sent to inventory)
1000 Agility Points
150 free Stat Points ]
The moment the window appeared, sharp pain struck his head and his vision began to blur. His body gradually lost strength and started to collapse to the ground.
Fortunately, Solan was fast enough to react. He appeared behind Marlon and caught him before he could fall completely.
Meanwhile, Marlon finally lost consciousness in this reality, and his eyes fluttered open in another.
