Overlord Tamer: All My Pet Monsters Have God Potential-Chapter 54: Laying Down The Plan (1/2)
Chapter 54: Laying Down The Plan (1/2)
Half an hour passed by and the airship landed at the Ouroboros Mountain.
"John, you can continue training at your place. It’s time to go now."
"Good luck, John."
"Join Arena someday and show us your pets, preferably before the competition. It’d help with the bettings later, haha."
...
John leisurely walked back to his courtyard while eating at a few places and drinking a couple of beers.
’The island expedition was worthwhile, but sadly it’s a monthly event...’ John lamented a bit as he ate. A month was sixty days here, so it was too long.
Of course, Silver-rank Tamers could also go to other areas in the four continents that were rich with Monsters and resources, but the island was off-limits and only allowed monthly for all Silver-rank batches.
Since the island would need 60 days to regrow both the resources and new Monsters, it was a monthly event. The batch John went with was the 5th and last batch of Silver-rank Tamers, so there were roughly 250 Silver-rank Tamers in the Ouroboros Hall.
And only five of them could get a ticket for the Nexus City tournament.
’I am going there, and that’s final,’ John inwardly resolved as he finally finished eating.
Training for an hour straight was kind of exhausting, especially as it was his first time training in the Monster Geno Art.
But his progress brought him incredible satisfaction, which was further boosted as he ate delicious food.
After spending an hour roaming, John finally arrived at the courtyard and fell asleep on the grass outside. But a second later, he suddenly sprung up on his feet, his faint red eyes wide.
’I almost forgot. It’s Sage Kindred time and I need to lay down the perfect plan I made so I can live comfortably as John Wicked.’
...
Tamer’s Market.
"Hey, look! That mysterious masked guy is back!"
"He’s finally here, eh? That girl’s been waiting for half an hour now."
"He arrived even later yesterday, though. It’s her fault she arrived early, but judging by her expression, it’s clear that her Pet evolved successfully."
"I wonder if he will successfully evolve a monster today as well?"
"Look! That Sage is back!"
John was smoking and humming as he calmly walked, listening to all the talks. Shortly, he made a turn and saw the path leading to his spot.
Some stall owners shot him a nasty glance, while some had eager expressions as if they wanted to see if he was going to evolve someone’s Monster successfully again.
’You bet your ass I am going to evolve a lot more of them today and lay down the foundation of my plan. I need to end this with a blast and let it marinate.’
Looking at the girl he helped yesterday, he nodded at her.
"Sage Kindred," Aurelia said respectfully with a bow. Excitement was clear in her eyes as she summoned her evolved Pet Monster.
Previously a Snow-Pawed Leopard, now it turned into a majestic black-frost furr-coated Lynx with two gleaming icy-blue horns with black patterns and a nimble tail with a horn-like crystal growing out at its end.
Blackfrost Hunter Lynx!
"Thank you so much, Sage Kindred! I never imagined I could get a Pet Monster of this caliber so soon! My Miku is now super powerful!"
The Monster was at the Adult-stage, but still had a powerful presence. Within the Silver-rank category, this Pet Monster was indeed a top-tier one.
’Ice and Darkness. This Monster turned into quite a hunter, alright.’
’But I’ll show them the true top-tier Pets after evolving Pymon and Rexion.’
Netherlord Glassblaze Lupine was already the top-gun, but with two more rare and talented Monsters in his arsenal, he would have solid combat power, enough to match the so-called top Silver-rank Tamers.
To make sure nobody got suspicious of him managing to get such rare evolutions with 100% success, Sage Kindred was created.
"Here, please take these fees. In total, this is 200 Gold Essence Coins and I know you asked for less, but I insist on giving all I can because it’s worth it! I will earn way more in the future thanks to you, and my Miku can continue to get stronger by my side," Aurelia said with a wide smile as she stretched her hand holding a storage pouch toward John.
"Please accept this."
"Well, this sage doesn’t reject the goodwill of others," John said with a light chuckle as he touched the storage pouch and transferred items from it into his storage. "Take the pouch back. I got the payment."
Aurelia nodded.
"Sage Kindred, please evolve my pet Monster!"
"Me too! I will pay more than you ask for as long as you make my pet evolve successfully into an awesome species with high potential!"
"Meh, I need to see one more example before I trust this fraud."
As people began clamoring, John raised his hand. "Quiet! I have a different plan in mind today!"
Everyone who had gathered around slowly quieted down.
"Today..." John spoke in a regal manner before pausing briefly and continuing. "This sage kindred will choose three people and evolve their Pets for free! You only need to pay for the resources I tell you to bring for the evolution."
"What?!"
"For real?"
"Choose me please!"
"Sage, please select me!"
John raised his hand, his voice ringing. "Silence!"
The people quieted down.
John said as he pointed at Aurelia’s Blackfrost Hunter Lynx. "This Monster here has the potential of Emperor-rank, but is Silver-rank right now."
"But as you know, with its potential being Emperor-rank, it wouldn’t face any problem ranking up. To rank up to Gold-rank, it would just need random Gold-rank resources of matching attributes to reach saturation point and rank-up. Depending on the characteristics of the resources you feed, your pet can acquire better skills, evolve or acquire talents, and overhaul its build to become stronger."
Everyone nodded. It was common knowledge.
"So!" John paused a bit before continuing. "The free three pets I will evolve will have potential of King-rank only."
"Only!? No, no, Sage Kindred. King-rank is enough!"
"Haha, true. Most of the trash here wouldn’t even reach King-rank since it’s simply too hard."
"Only one out of ten Tamers breakthrough to become King-rank Tamers. Failing even once reduces the chance to enter King-rank further, so if Gold-rank fellows can have a King-rank Pet, that’d be enough, hahaha."
"Sage Kindred! I’ve already failed to reach King-rank once as I couldn’t form my Soul Lake properly and now my chances are even less! I would be eternally grateful If you could evolve and rank up my Gold-rank Pet Monster to a King-rank one! I will even pay you with everything I have!"
Usually, Tamers could have Pets one rank higher than them, but the limit depended on one’s soul. Some Gold-rank tamers could have three King-rank Pet Monsters, while some could only have one as their Soul might not be able to bear the soul pressure of having more than one King-rank Pet Monster.
As John heard the clamor of people, he raised his hand hand again to silence them.
"I will choose the three people now. First, you," John pointed at the blond-haired man who was in his late twenties, the one who had already failed to become King-rank Tamer once.
Next, John picked up an Ouroboros Hall’s Silver-rank Tamer.
For the third one, John picked up a random Silver-rank Tamer belonging to some smaller force in the city by closing his eyes and pointing randomly.
"Take out the Pets you want to evolve."
People made space in front of John’s spot as the three people summoned their Pets.
"Can you make some more space, please? My Gold-rank Pet Monster is quite big," the Gold-rank Tamer requested people to make more space.
After getting enough space, he summoned his Infernal Moltenic Mammoth (Lava)
The other two were smaller as they were Silver-rank Pet Monsters. One was a Razor Fiend Peacock (Wind), and another was a Tempest Armored Mole (Lightning/Earth).
