Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Boundaries

Scarlett Shaw thought, well, wasn’t it because you were following that I fell?

However, she didn’t voice this thought, knowing it sounded petty and showed she cared too much about him.

Scarlett Shaw: "This ski resort isn’t very professional. There’s no staff to help when you fall, and the safety measures aren’t adequate."

Julian Ford glanced at her, "Good point. I’ll make sure to pass it along."

Scarlett Shaw was taken aback for a moment.

She pondered for two seconds and suddenly realized that the ski resort was also owned by the Ford family.

"Want to keep skiing?" Julian Ford asked her.

Scarlett Shaw: "No, my legs hurt, I’m tired."

"That’s because your technique is off. Of course, you’ll get tired. You need to angle your toes inward, keep your upper body straight and facing forward, and watch your balance," Julian Ford explained.

Scarlett Shaw realized he was teaching her. She looked up to meet his calm, dark eyes. The man was elegant and patient, and her gaze brushed over his slightly moving lips, those lips that had kissed countless places on her body before, now moving seemed seductive.

Her heart suddenly began to race, like a frantic little deer, raising the temperature.

Scarlett Shaw suddenly squatted down again, grabbed a handful of snow, and smeared it on her face.

Julian Ford: "..."

The snow water was icy, calming Scarlett Shaw’s racing heart as she slowly stood up.

She lifted her eyes again to meet Julian Ford’s speechless gaze.

Scarlett Shaw, feeling guilty, said: "Please continue."

With a humble and respectful posture, it felt as if they had returned to their previous relationship.

Julian Ford’s cold expression eased a bit, and he said a few more simple phrases, which Scarlett grasped the essentials of, feeling notably easier on the way back.

Julian Ford walked beside her, casually saying, "Stay away from Jasper Spencer."

Scarlett Shaw glanced at him inexplicably.

Julian Ford: "He’s trouble."

Scarlett Shaw was barely acquainted with Jasper Spencer, and naturally wouldn’t casually judge someone she just met. Besides, except for the fact that his chest muscles were somewhat large, she wasn’t particularly interested in Jasper Spencer.

Though she shared a similar view with Julian Ford, Scarlett Shaw really didn’t want to cater to his condescending tone.

She simply said, "No need for your concern, President Ford."

Julian Ford squinted his eyes.

She used to follow him humbly, perfectly mastering how to be subservient, but now, it seemed like her independence had grown so much since they parted.

Julian Ford suddenly regretted letting Scarlett Shaw go so easily.

It seemed she never really considered him at all.

Scarlett Shaw returned to the ski resort entrance, took off her ski equipment without looking at Julian Ford’s expression, and dashed back to the changing room to remove her skiing attire, calming herself with lingering unease.

Something was off.

She was truly off.

How could she almost lose control just because Julian Ford was slightly patient, barely resisting the urge to kiss him?

Sitting on the bench, Scarlett Shaw mulled over it, realizing it was because she hadn’t completely severed ties with Julian Ford yet, with her cells not having updated, her body naturally wanting to reach for him, causing her to nearly lose control.

Of course, part of the reason was that her feelings for him hadn’t completely faded.

Thinking about it, she realized she really couldn’t have any more contact with Julian Ford; the withdrawal period is always the hardest, and she can’t give up halfway.

Ski Resort.

Jasper Spencer watched Scarlett Shaw and Julian Ford ski side by side, and when she fled, he approached Julian Ford, smiling insincerely, "That Scarlett Shaw, she’s just an employee at Veridian, right? No other relation?"

Julian Ford coldly looked at him, "What do you want?"

Jasper Spencer: "I fell for her at first sight, want to pursue her."

Julian Ford laughed carelessly, "So, you want to be a simp again."

"What’s wrong with being a simp? Eventually, sycophants can have everything, that’s successful. With how you act high and mighty all the time, it’s no surprise Zoe left you," Jasper Spencer scoffed.

"Besides, the girl evidently likes me. Didn’t you see just now? We were happily chatting, but she lost her smile when you came."

"What’s it got to do with me?"

"If it doesn’t matter, why the sour face?" Jasper Spencer loved seeing Julian Ford’s displeased look, "We’ve been rivals for so long, and now you’re engaged, so I must hurry and find my own happiness. Unlike you, my woman will definitely love me."

Julian Ford indifferently glanced at him, not saying a word, and walked away.

...

Scarlett Shaw left the ski resort and took out her phone to contact Yana Yarrow, who was still skiing, so she headed to the resort bus stop to go down to the pre-booked vacation home to rest.

Just as she reached the parking lot entrance, a black sedan slowly drove up in front of her and stopped. The window rolled down, and Julian Ford looked at her with aristocratic nonchalance, saying, "Get in."

Scarlett Shaw didn’t pause for even a moment, continuing her path forward.

Julian Ford remained calm, leisurely following her, resonating with his earlier composed demeanor on the ski field. However, a flashy Mercedes sports car quickly maneuvered past his sedan, its rear swinging to directly block Scarlett Shaw’s path.

Scarlett Shaw recognized it as Jasper Spencer’s car from earlier and was surprised when he got out and approached her.

Jasper Spencer had a broad, hard chest, naturally exuding a wild sense of oppression, domineering and unyielding.

Scarlett Shaw instinctively stepped back two paces to create some distance, but Jasper Spencer quickly grabbed her arm, bending down to speak softly near her ear, audible only to her, "Yana Yarrow wants me to take you down the mountain."

Jasper Spencer originally intended to gauge Julian Ford’s attitude by pulling her.

Unexpectedly, Scarlett Shaw’s arm felt as soft as tofu. He even got the illusion that with a little more strength, he could crush it.

Finding it amusing, he pinched twice more.

Scarlett Shaw almost reflexively swung a slap towards Jasper Spencer.

This man, pretending to be noble yet indecent, was Yana Yarrow’s nominal blind date, now touching her, he seemed nothing short of a rogue.

Consequently, her face, which had been politely gentle, suddenly turned cold.

Jasper Spencer was quick, easily catching Scarlett Shaw’s slender wrist, glancing at her icy expression, he smirked.

"Get in the car."

He released her just in time and gentlemanly opened the car door.

Scarlett Shaw: "Mr. Spencer, please mind your manners."

Jasper Spencer chuckled, "Yes, I apologize. As my penance, I’ll ensure your safe arrival at the vacation home."

Scarlett Shaw’s expression softened slightly, then she got into the car.

The little episode between Scarlett Shaw and Jasper Spencer, from the former’s perspective, made her extremely unimpressed with the latter, already contemplating how to discreetly inform her friend that this blind date wasn’t appropriate, while the latter was deliberately putting on a show for a certain someone, saying nothing as the car drove away from that person’s view.

As for that person observing from the sidelines, it certainly felt different.
