Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Sit Tight and Behave

Julian Ford’s expression was as calm as water, devoid of any anger or rage, yet the underlying pressure and intimidation were so intense it was suffocating.

Scarlett Shaw’s hand fell from the belt to her side, clenched tight. She looked at Julian with no emotion and said, "If we continue this relationship, it would be unfair to Miss Walsh. I have no desire to be the other woman, and you’ve mentioned that you don’t fancy juggling multiple women at once."

Her words were full, leaving no room for error.

She directly considered the situation for all three involved.

Quite thoughtful indeed.

Julian lifted his lips with no expression, "You’re quite worried."

Scarlett said nothing, turned around, and continued packing her luggage.

Julian’s indifferent stance clearly showed he hadn’t really listened to her words, but that didn’t mean she lacked initiative. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

However, Scarlett didn’t expect that just as she bent down, Julian grabbed her waist from behind and pulled her closer to him.

"I didn’t say it was over, just stay put."

Julian’s fingers reached under the edge of her nightgown.

"Other matters are not for you to think about."

Scarlett unceremoniously brushed away his restless hand.

Although the gesture was light, the defiance was clear; Julian’s palm lingered in the air for half a second before changing direction, holding the nape of Scarlett’s neck, kneading it with interest, "Jealous?"

Scarlett pressed her lips together, an unknown emotion swirling in her eyes.

Yet she quickly quelled her feelings, lifting her eyes to meet Julian’s calm gaze, and smiled, "Of course not. Rest assured, I will not have unwarranted thoughts."

Their gazes met.

Julian’s dark eyes were deep as a pool; the hand on her neck moved to her ear, pinching her earlobe.

"That’s good then."

He said, calmly looking at her.

A kind of uncalled-for emotion filled Scarlett’s heart, leaving a stinging pain. Regaining her composure, she wanted to return to the previous topic, but her lips were sealed by Julian’s descending kiss.

Julian’s stamina was impressive, using positions they hadn’t tried before.

When Scarlett was wet all over and collapsed against Julian’s chest, he held her waist, lifted her slightly, and kissed her lightly, "Weren’t you trying to break up with me, why are you red-eyed begging me now..."

His lips brushed against her earlobe, whispering three words that made Scarlett’s already red ears flush instantly.

"Words in bed don’t count."

She buried her head into his shoulder, both angry and annoyed.

Regretting herself for being so pathetic, driven by her physiological instincts in such matters.

On the other hand, Julian was a born superior, holding all the authority, even in such matters. During the most intense moments, though there was lust in his eyes, the deepest part remained calm and clear, devoid of unnecessary emotions.

Falling for a man like this only leads to a dead end.

When Julian was about to carry her to the shower, Scarlett pushed him away, "I’ll wash myself."

He squinted at her, nodding his head.

The shower was filled with the sound of water, steam rising, as Scarlett toweled off, trying hard to calm the inappropriate flutter in her left chest.

Outside the bathroom, Julian sat on the sofa with his long legs crossed, beneath the open shirt were still evident red marks from being scratched vigorously.

Just as Scarlett emerged from the bathroom, the doorbell rang suddenly.

She froze, looking at Julian.

He rose and walked to the door, glancing at the monitor screen.

It was Ryan Ford.

Julian lifted his gaze to Scarlett; her eyes moved from the monitor to his face, pleading.

"Go to the study, and don’t come out."

Julian said calmly.

Although Scarlett was surprised at how agreeable he was today, given the urgency, she didn’t think much and immediately turned and headed for the study.

Julian’s place at Cloud Mansion was much larger than Scarlett’s small apartment, and the study was far from the door, so there was no need to worry about being discovered.

Seeing Scarlett enter the study, Julian opened the front door.

Ryan stood outside, hands in his pants pockets, his suit casual, lips curling into a slight smile, "Brother."

Julian stepped aside, allowing him in, casually asking, "Something up?"

"I just got back and saw your lights on this late, so I came to ask what’s going on with you and the Walsh Family lady. Surely you’re not really going to get married to her, right?"

Ryan’s words choked when noticing the used condoms in the trash can, habitually counting them—there were three.

He instinctively glanced towards the inside rooms, surprised, "Did you bring Lynn Walsh back to Cloud Mansion?"

Julian replied, "It’s not her."

Ryan was stunned for quite a while before saying, "Surely it’s still the one you were with before?"

"Yeah."

Julian glanced emotionlessly at the tightly closed door of the study.

"We match physically, so I’m keeping her."

Ryan was utterly surprised.

In Julian’s home at Cloud Mansion, not even Zoe Sutton had been there, and even Ezra Ford and Freya Pierce were not allowed, and Ryan could only enter because of some past connections.

To casually allow a woman he matched physically with into his private space, Ryan thought, it might not just be about the physical relationship. Even if it wasn’t now, the future could be different.

"What about the matters with Lynn Walsh? Even if there’s pressure from mom, you surely can’t marry while keeping someone outside?"

Ryan’s expression turned sour as he said this.

Julian stated calmly, "What’s wrong with that?"

Ryan assertively, "You’re not that kind of person."

"We both carry his genes; whatever he is, I am too," Julian replied absentmindedly, "A marriage with The Walsh Group could bring in more financial backing for the family business, entirely beneficial. As long as keeping someone outside doesn’t impact the family’s affairs, at least father won’t object."

After the final word, a fleeting mockery flashed in Julian’s eyes.

Ryan exhaled deeply, "Ezra Ford is certainly lacking proper conduct; he has no right. But what about your mother? She’s already been so upset upon learning you kept a woman outside before. If something else displeases her, and she reacts like before..."

"The past was the past, now is now," Julian interrupted her.

"We’ve both changed since those days, haven’t we?"

Ryan’s brows tightened, rendering him silent.

"Is there anything else?"

Julian’s demeanor was cold, clearly indicating disinterest in continuing the topic. Ryan had no choice; being born into the Ford family meant many things were beyond one’s control. Having paid a painful price and barely survived the past, both he and Julian saw things very clearly.

"Brother, that assistant of yours, Aaron Carson, what do you think of him?"

Ryan abruptly shifted the subject.

Julian lifted his eyes to look at him, "He’s very competent at his job, why?"

Ryan said, "I think his character isn’t that good."

Julian responded, "?"
