Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 54: What a Coincidence
Scarlett Shaw: "Which sentence are you referring to?"
Aaron Carson cautiously replied: "The one about your parents."
Scarlett Shaw: "Half true, half false."
Aaron Carson: "Huh?"
Scarlett Shaw: "It’s true that my dad passed away, but my mom is still alive, though I have no idea where she ran off to."
Aaron Carson was silent.
That doesn’t seem much better than having both parents gone.
He didn’t know about Scarlett Shaw’s background before; he just thought she was very pretty, optimistic, and capable at work, making it particularly pleasant and happy to interact with her.
Originally, he thought her family life should be happy and prosperous, but didn’t expect such an outcome.
He even suspected earlier that she deliberately said that for effect.
Scarlett Shaw noticed the complex emotions in Aaron Carson’s eyes and asked, "Do you think I’m quite pitiful?"
Aaron Carson sincerely nodded.
Scarlett Shaw: "If I told you I was in massive debt and it’ll take at least ten years to pay it off, would you think I’m even more pitiful?"
Aaron Carson: "Definitely."
Scarlett Shaw: "Have you ever thought about rescuing this pathetic girl?"
Aaron Carson looked at her round and shiny eyes, and his eyelids twitched, "Are you playing the pity card on me?"
Scarlett Shaw showed regret, "You saw right through me."
"..."
It must be said, Scarlett Shaw truly has the ability to make people both angry and amused. Even though he knew her real purpose was to ask for help, Aaron Carson still softened and compromised:
"Tell me, what do you want help with this time?"
Scarlett Shaw: "Can you help me find someone?"
Being Julian Ford’s personal assistant, Aaron Carson’s mind definitely spins like a top, much faster than ordinary people.
Connecting the dots, he almost blurted out, "You want me to help find your mom, right?"
Scarlett Shaw: "You guessed it again."
Aaron Carson: "..."
Should have guessed something simpler.
Even though Aaron Carson occasionally gets overwhelmed with sympathy, he ultimately maintains the selfish nature of a man by distancing himself from matters that aren’t his concern.
"I’m afraid I can’t help with this one."
He had a feeling it wouldn’t be anything good.
Scarlett Shaw nodded and didn’t say anything else.
She had the idea on a whim, thinking that Aaron Carson, being Julian Ford’s assistant, should have a wide network of information, and might hear something useful from the Ford brothers.
Now that Aaron Carson is unwilling, she naturally wouldn’t force an unrelated person to get involved.
In Aaron Carson’s family, his father is usually the one who cooks. After Mrs. Carson heard that Scarlett Shaw loves seafood, she immediately instructed Aaron Carson to quickly buy fresh crabs, shrimps, and fish.
Scarlett Shaw and Aaron Carson went to a nearby large supermarket together.
Just picked out some hairy crabs and finished weighing them, they turned around, and at the first second of seeing Julian Ford, they simultaneously thought—
Run!
However, running was not an option.
Julian Ford cast a casual glance over, and Scarlett Shaw and Aaron Carson froze in place, not daring to move.
"Good afternoon, President Ford!"
Standing straight, they spoke in unison.
Displaying a demeanor as if facing impending doom.
Julian Ford was not alone at the moment.
He was pushing a shopping cart, dressed in casual clothes, maintaining his usual aloof, cold, and handsome look. Next to him was Lynn Walsh, who had just placed some daily necessities into the shopping cart.
The two stood side by side, seemingly like an ordinary couple spending a weekend together.
The atmosphere between them was harmoniously beautiful.
Julian Ford glanced at the two, "Why are you both here?"
Scarlett Shaw: "Coincidence."
Julian Ford scrutinized her for a few seconds, then casually said, "Your place isn’t very far from here, right?"
Scarlett Shaw: "I just finished tutoring nearby, and saw a supermarket along the way, came to buy some stuff."
"Is that so."
Julian Ford’s voice was nonchalant, revealing no emotions.
Lynn Walsh suddenly affectionately tugged at his sleeve and softly said, "We’ve finished picking things out, we should head to the checkout quickly, don’t want Aunt Pierce to wait too long alone at home."
Julian Ford glanced at Scarlett Shaw.
The latter lowered her gaze, looking very obedient and docile.
Julian Ford inexplicably felt a bit annoyed.
He responded in a faint voice and turned towards the checkout with Lynn Walsh.
During self-checkout, Lynn Walsh scanned the product code while chatting, "You’re quite attentive to your subordinates, even know where they live."
"Hmm."
Julian Ford placed the scanned items into shopping bags, responding absentmindedly.
Lynn Walsh pursed her lips.
On the other side.
Aaron Carson, acting furtively, watched Julian Ford and Lynn Walsh leave the supermarket, then breathed a sigh of relief and said:
"That scared me to death just now, did you see President Ford’s gaze, cold as ice shards? I constantly feel like there’s a knife hanging over my head!"
"Really?"
Scarlett Shaw felt Julian Ford’s gaze was rather calm.
Having a beauty to accompany him, the mood must be better than usual, even his temper is probably much improved.
She casually asked: "Why would Julian Ford be in this area?"
Cloud Mansion is in the city center, and this area is nearing the suburbs, would take over an hour by car.
Aaron Carson: "The chairman and his wife live in a villa that’s only two blocks from here. President Ford often comes back here."
The chairman and his wife naturally referred to Ezra Ford and Freya Pierce.
Scarlett Shaw: "So, it seems that Julian Ford and that Miss Walsh are progressing quite fast, already meeting the parents."
Aaron Carson was stunned for a moment, then realized it might indeed be the case.
"As far as I know, President Ford has indeed dated Miss Walsh several times, and Miss Walsh was personally introduced by the lady, who has been actively promoting them."
Scarlett Shaw nodded thoughtfully.
Aaron Carson glanced at her, "You dare to call the boss by name, you’re really gutsy."
"He can’t hear it." Scarlett Shaw paused, raised her eyebrows at him, "Didn’t you notice, Julian Ford is also dating other women? He’s the boss, even the senior example is crooked, can I be expected to be that well-behaved?"
What’s more, she and Aaron Carson are still pretending.
Julian Ford and Lynn Walsh might just become real.
Aaron Carson was speechless, "You just find excuses for yourself." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Scarlett Shaw: "Am I finding excuses? I’m enlightening you, don’t let it stress you too much."
Aaron Carson: "Hehe, when you dragged me into this, I didn’t see you being so considerate."
Scarlett Shaw moved her lips but before she could speak, Aaron Carson’s expression changed suddenly, and his lips trembled, "President, President Ford."
Julian Ford ignored Aaron Carson, his gaze falling on the back of Scarlett Shaw’s head.
Aaron Carson knowingly walked a bit further away.
For storms and such, it’s better to let Scarlett face them alone.
Scarlett Shaw and Julian Ford stood in the aisle between shelves, with no one around at the moment, Julian Ford’s voice was particularly crisp and clear, looking down at her:
"Just passing by tutoring?"
Scarlett Shaw raised her eyes, meeting his scrutinizing gaze, "Yes."
Julian Ford was silent for a few seconds, "You look very pretty today."
Scarlett Shaw: ?
Scarlett Shaw was a bit confused, not understanding the sudden compliment from Julian Ford.
However, not understanding aside, everyone has a bit of vanity; it’s naturally pleasing to be complimented on one’s looks.
Scarlett Shaw smiled, "Thank you for the compliment, President Ford."
Julian Ford replied calmly, "Even better looking than when you planned to go and feel chest muscles, who are you meeting this time?"
Scarlett Shaw: "..."
