Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 50: In a Fit of Anger, She Just Got a Little Angry
Scarlett Shaw nodded. She had always had a good memory for things that made a deep impression on her and immediately mentioned a date.
Julian Ford’s expression was inscrutable.
Scarlett Shaw was curious: "What’s up? Is there something special about that day?"
Julian Ford: "Why do you ask so many questions? He wasn’t crying because of you."
Scarlett Shaw: "..."
Well, if it wasn’t, it wasn’t. She didn’t care anymore.
Seeing her silence, Julian Ford sneered, "Disappointed?"
Scarlett Shaw couldn’t be bothered to explain and replied casually, "Not at all. My heart is now torn in anguish, my soul in knots; I could just cry my eyes out."
Julian Ford lowered his gaze, looking into her calm eyes with an unfathomable coldness.
"So, that night when I came to your house, you thought of Ryan Ford, which is why you didn’t kick me out?"
Huh?
What kind of logic is Julian Ford employing now?
Scarlett Shaw really couldn’t figure out the logic in this master’s every word now.
"President Ford, do you want to hear the truth or a lie?" Scarlett Shaw asked.
Julian Ford showed a bit of interest in his calm eyes and lifted the corner of his lips, "What’s the difference."
Scarlett Shaw answered seriously, "A lie would make you happy, content, like a spring breeze; the truth... I’m afraid you’d hold a grudge and give me a hard time."
Julian Ford smiled faintly, without much expression, "The truth."
"Then you can’t get mad."
"Mm."
Scarlett Shaw touched her nose, "That night, it was you who refused to leave my house, just sticking around like a plaster, couldn’t get rid of you, nothing to do with Ryan Ford."
Julian Ford: "..."
Julian Ford’s handsome face, which showed no waves, stiffened for a moment when he heard Scarlett Shaw’s words.
However, by the last sentence, the coldness in his eyes had dissipated.
He looked at her and asked, "And what’s the lie?"
Seeing that he wasn’t actually angry, Scarlett Shaw continued, "The lie would be your visit made my modest home feel honored, I didn’t even have enough time to welcome you, how could I bear to send you away?"
Julian Ford smiled slightly and looked at her.
Scarlett Shaw: "?"
What’s with this?
Doesn’t he like to hear such compliments?
Julian Ford: "Looks like you’ve told me quite a few lies in the past."
Scarlett Shaw: "..."
He’s caught her.
Talking with Julian Ford is like stepping into traps everywhere; a slight carelessness, and she’d get blamed.
Julian Ford was quick at buying clothes; the man was a natural coat hanger, didn’t need to try anything on, money wasn’t an issue, and he’d buy what caught his eye without even glancing at the price.
When the shop assistant finished packing the clothes and handed the bag to him, Julian Ford didn’t take it but just glanced at Scarlett Shaw.
By now, Scarlett Shaw had honed her skill to perceive Julian Ford’s expressions to a level close to perfection. Without a word, she took the bag dutifully.
The shop assistant seemed surprised.
Scarlett Shaw and Julian Ford had barely walked a few steps before they heard a hushed discussion behind them:
"That man is such a waste of good looks, making his girlfriend carry the stuff. What a jerk."
"Yeah, and it’s his own clothes; doesn’t even lift a finger. Guess having money isn’t always good."
Scarlett Shaw: "..."
Ladies, please don’t. He’s not my boyfriend; he’s my boss.
What’s the boss best at?
If not transferring the blame!
Scarlett Shaw secretly glanced to the side, anxiously observing Julian Ford’s expression. The person involved, however, was completely calm, showing no sign of embarrassment.
"What are you looking at?"
Julian Ford suddenly glanced her way, looking down at her.
Scarlett Shaw: "Looking at your big heart and your unaffected cool image against others’ remarks."
Julian Ford’s lips curved into a faint smile, "Your lies indeed come more naturally than the truth."
Scarlett Shaw, thick-skinned, said, "My words might be a bit insincere, but they’re still filled with genuine admiration for your noble character, can’t you just indulge me?"
Julian Ford: "Are you this eloquent in front of Ryan Ford too?"
Scarlett Shaw had no idea why Julian Ford kept bringing up Ryan Ford tonight. Was he missing his brother?
"Of course not." She answered smoothly, "Ryan’s flirty nature is a result of low moral standards, but in interactions, his temper and patience are quite nice, never causing me any anger."
Julian Ford smirked without genuine humor, "From what you’re saying, you seem to miss Ryan Ford."
"It’s not that I miss him; it’s just that since we’ve dated, as long as we part on good terms and he doesn’t bother me, I’m more than happy."
Moreover—
Scarlett Shaw glanced at Julian Ford, adding, "I’m definitely more respectful towards you. After all, I’m in a romantic relationship with him, which is equal, but you’re my boss and my idol in the industry. Naturally, I look up to you."
Julian Ford halted his steps, "Now I’m your idol again?"
Scarlett Shaw nodded vigorously.
To be honest, before that night with Julian Ford, she truly admired him.
It wasn’t a girlish thing; it was simply pure respect in terms of career. Anyone in finance would aspire to reach Julian Ford’s level, wouldn’t they?
The men’s section was on the third floor of the mall. As they descended the escalator, Julian Ford casually glanced at the store and suddenly said to Scarlett Shaw, "If you want to buy anything, pick it out yourself."
Scarlett Shaw was flattered, "Really? Anything?"
Julian Ford sneered, "Why pretend? Haven’t you been scheming, waiting for me to offer?"
With Julian Ford’s wealth, buying the entire mall probably wouldn’t be a big deal.
Scarlett Shaw pondered for two seconds and said, "Actually, there’s nothing I really want to buy."
Julian Ford: "Plotting something else again?"
"..."
Scarlett Shaw had figured out Julian Ford’s temperament. With Julian Ford’s intelligence, his understanding of Scarlett Shaw’s thoughts was equally thorough.
Scarlett Shaw stopped holding back and carefully asked, "Can I cash it in?"
Julian Ford snorted coldly.
Scarlett Shaw: "I was just asking casually."
"Opportunities come only once, at a single moment. Just like investment, hesitation is giving up. It seems like you’ve lived up to the phrase ’drawing water with a bamboo basket ends up with nothing’."
Julian Ford coldly dropped this line and then walked briskly towards the mall exit.
Scarlett Shaw stood petrified for a full minute.
Dog!
This is an absolute dog!
To make stinginess sound so grand, it truly is something only Julian Ford, this dog-man, can do!
Scarlett Shaw was so angry she could hardly stand it.
In a fit of rage—
Well, she could only be angry for a short while before continuing to obediently carry Julian Ford’s clothes and follow along.
However, just when she reached the mall exit, she saw a woman standing in front of Julian Ford.
Scarlett Shaw found the woman familiar; she had seen her on several dates with Julian Ford before.
Scarlett Shaw stopped in place, thinking of waiting until Ford the Skinner finished chatting before approaching. Who knows, if she’s lucky, they might leave together, and she’d have her night freed.
"Scarlett."
Julian Ford had apparently noticed her at some point and called out to her in a calm and natural manner:
"Come over to me."
Though Scarlett Shaw was extremely reluctant, she still walked over respectfully on the surface.
