Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 49: Staying the Night
Scarlett Shaw glanced at Julian Ford’s wound, which was caused by a sharp object, "President Ford, did you get into a fight at the hospital today?"
Julian Ford quickly pulled his hand back from hers, looking at her indifferently, "Learned it from you."
Scarlett Shaw was slightly stunned.
It took her brain three seconds to recall that he was referring to the last time she went to Penelope Shaw’s house and returned to Cloud Mansion covered in bruises.
Scarlett Shaw: "I was beaten one-sidedly, with no one to rely on, and was outnumbered. Given your status, who would dare bully you?"
Perhaps infected by her lighthearted teasing attitude, Julian Ford let out a faint chuckle, "At least you know you were beaten one-sidedly."
"The injuries I got were not severe, and you even applied medicine for me," Scarlett Shaw remembered his kindness and expressed concern, "Your wound is more serious, isn’t it? And it’s just left untreated?"
She thought of the bloodstains on his clothes again.
Once more, she reached out to lift his clothes, wanting to check the situation.
Of course, she was once again brushed off by Julian Ford.
The hint of a smile disappeared from his eyes, returning to a cold and calm demeanor, "It’s none of your business, don’t meddle where it’s not needed."
Scarlett: "But your hand is still bleeding, aren’t you afraid of bleeding to death?"
Julian Ford looked down at her, absentmindedly saying, "If I die, you’ll be free, isn’t that good?"
"..."
Scarlett Shaw felt that Julian Ford was probably not in his right mind today.
He could insult her, fine, but dragging his own life into it, such words of mutual destruction were really not like his style.
After some thought, she still said, "Life is very precious, I naturally hope that you live well."
Julian Ford’s gaze deepened.
Scarlett Shaw noticed his demeanor softening slightly, so she took out the home first-aid kit, retrieved the cotton swabs and alcohol, and pulled Julian Ford’s hand over to disinfect and stop the bleeding. Then, with her slender fingers, she pointed at his clothes, "Lift it up, let me have a look."
Julian Ford didn’t move.
Scarlett Shaw sighed, "You can’t still be shy, can you? It’s not like I haven’t seen it before."
Julian Ford glanced at her, suddenly raising an eyebrow, "You do it."
Alright, now he was taking advantage.
Scarlett Shaw reached out, her fingertips barely touching the hem of his shirt when Julian Ford’s other uninjured hand grabbed hers, guiding it upwards, stopping at the button on his collarbone.
"Unbutton it."
"..."
Julian Ford’s two words were spoken in a low and slightly hoarse voice, inexplicably reminding Scarlett Shaw of a certain occasion when she was doing business with him. He guided her, their fingertips touching his belt, and he seductively said those two words.
Scarlett Shaw’s ears warmed slightly, and she wordlessly unbuttoned Julian Ford’s shirt, her gaze landing on the perfect muscular contours, indeed finding numerous wounds on his back and side waist.
They weren’t deep, just like the ones on his hand, fresh wounds made by a sharp object, unbandaged, with bloodstains naturally dried.
"Aren’t you quite the neat freak?"
Scarlett Shaw carefully wiped away the bloodstains with a cotton swab, saying as she did:
"Dirty like this, and you can still stand it?"
Julian Ford: "If you won’t wipe it, I’ll shower and clean it."
Scarlett Shaw sighed, "Don’t you have common sense? Water easily worsens and infects wounds—do you want to give these wounds a shower of their own?"
Julian Ford gazed at her, his eyes deep, without speaking.
Scarlett Shaw focused on disinfecting his wound.
Some words were said casually, but in her heart, she knew well that Julian Ford naturally knew this common sense, right?
The two times she got hurt before, he had timely applied medicine for her. Now it was his turn, yet he was being negligent, likely because the person who hurt him was important in his heart but left him disheartened.
People tend to rely on pain to keep themselves alert.
After applying the medicine, Scarlett Shaw packed away the first-aid kit, and when she looked at Julian Ford again, she received a warning look.
Scarlett Shaw promptly and tactfully said, "Rest assured, I won’t speak a word about this."
Julian Ford’s cold expression softened slightly.
Scarlett Shaw: "President Ford, when are you leaving?"
This question brought Julian Ford’s softened expression back to a sullen one, "Chasing me away?"
As if she dared.
Scarlett Shaw: "Heaven knows, boss, I was just asking, purely out of curiosity." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Julian Ford stared at her without a word.
Scarlett Shaw’s mind turned twice, instantly lighting up a small bulb: as a boss, there’s no reason to make things clear; isn’t it all about making people guess?
Moreover, Julian Ford was not only keen on making people guess his thoughts, but once they guessed it, the words need careful consideration, not too direct while letting him keep his dignity.
After some thought, Scarlett Shaw said, "It’s quite late, if you don’t mind, how about staying at my place?"
Julian Ford gave a faint response.
That was indeed the case.
Scarlett Shaw recalled the last time he stayed at her house. This person liked cleanliness, needing to change clothes worn the previous day. What’s more, today his clothes had light bloodstains.
So she said, "I don’t have any men’s clothes at home, so I’ll go to the mall to get you some."
After speaking, she looked at him with hopeful eyes.
Come on, quickly transfer money for her like last time—she still wanted to earn a delivery fee.
Julian Ford didn’t take out his phone, suddenly locking his gaze on her, and out of the blue asked, "Don’t you have Ryan’s clothes?"
Scarlett Shaw: "I threw them away when I moved."
Besides, weren’t you the one unwilling to wear your brother’s clothes? Why so fickle today?
Julian Ford took the coat thrown on the sofa, put it on, and said, "Let’s go together."
Scarlett Shaw was slightly stunned, seeing that he had already walked to the door, she realized Julian Ford intended to go with her personally to buy clothes.
She put on a coat and followed him out.
Yet in her heart, she couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed.
She didn’t expect Julian Ford to be so tight now. Previously, he was willing to provide a delivery fee, but tonight, after cooking and tending to his wounds, not even half a penny was given.
The nearest mall was three to five kilometers from Scarlett Shaw’s home. After stepping out, she and Julian Ford took a cab there.
Scarlett Shaw was still dwelling on the missed delivery fee, feeling a bit absent-minded until they got out of the car.
"Did Ryan often stay at your place before?"
Julian Ford’s sudden question pulled Scarlett Shaw’s wandering mind back.
Thinking that Julian Ford and Ryan Ford were such good friends and seemed to care about Ryan Ford a lot, she answered truthfully, "There was one time he drank too much and was quite a mess, so he crashed at my place for a night."
The clothes were from that night Ryan Ford wore.
Originally, Scarlett Shaw had almost forgotten about it, but with this mention, it brought back memories and she said, "That night Ryan Ford seemed to be in a bad mood, he seemed..."
She didn’t say the words "cried."
Men don’t cry easily.
Moreover, Ryan Ford was always that carefree, nonchalant, and flirtatious type; that night, Scarlett Shaw didn’t really intend to interact with him, especially since Ryan Ford had started showing signs of planting green grass on her field back then.
However, seeing the redness in his eyes, she eventually softened and took him in.
Julian Ford, upon hearing this, asked nonchalantly, "Do you remember the date?"
