Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 30: Why Don’t You Try It
Julian Ford returned to the bedroom, facing her dark eyes.
He walked up, lifted the covers, got into bed, and pressed her beneath him, lifting her chin as he said, "Just say what you want to say, don’t choke to death, no one’s going to clean up your corpse."
After intimacy between a man and a woman, they generally feel closer than usual.
Scarlett Shaw, at this point, wasn’t as apprehensive of him, wrapping her arms around his neck, she casually said, "You’re quite gentle when you don’t talk."
Julian Ford squinted his eyes.
Scarlett inadvertently blurted out, "President Ford, could it be that Zoe Sutton was also driven away by your words?"
Julian Ford remained quite calm, merely pinching her chin, "You’ve got a lot of nerve, daring to ask such questions."
Scarlett said, "Of course not, your heart is broad, accepting all rivers, surely you wouldn’t mind."
Julian Ford chuckled lightly, leaned down, and planted a kiss on her.
Scarlett momentarily lost her focus.
Needless to say, this man is really good-looking.
And particularly the kind that easily stirs emotions.
When Julian Ford looked at her again, he spoke nonchalantly, "So from this, it seems like your tolerance is quite strong, you wouldn’t be annoyed away no matter how it’s done."
Scarlett said, "How is that comparable? I’m just an employee; I don’t have the right to throw tantrums at my boss. You and Zoe Sutton were proper couples, and what girl can stand her boyfriend constantly trying to manipulate her?"
"So what you’re saying is, I’m manipulating you."
Julian Ford’s eyes were calm, his lips slightly smiling.
Scarlett’s face stiffened.
She thought for a moment, then softly said, "If I say yes, could you maybe mock me a bit less in the future? I’m quite fragile, you know, and I might snap one day, and end up seeking revenge against you, even to the point of life and death."
Julian Ford looked at her, "You can try."
After saying that, he rolled over, moved away from her, and casually turned off the light.
Not answering directly, which means it’s a refusal.
Scarlett sighed.
Though she wasn’t really disappointed; she was used to it anyway, at worst she could curse him in her mind secretly.
She simply couldn’t hold it in, lest it cause herself health issues, which would be too much of a loss.
In the darkness, Scarlett’s waist was hooked by Julian Ford, pulling her closer into his embrace.
Julian Ford’s breath was against her ear.
The air was silent, and Scarlett heard the man’s deep and cold voice, barely audible:
"Okay."
A delayed answer.
Scarlett’s heart tightened.
The hand that hung by her side cautiously raised, and for the first time, boldly rested on Julian Ford’s waist, pulling tighter, leaning towards his chest.
"Julian Ford."
"Hm?"
"You won’t go back on the words you promised in bed once you put on pants, would you?"
Julian Ford had just closed his eyes, but he opened them again, gazing down.
In the darkness, Scarlett’s dark eyes were wide open, as though seeking to verify a truth.
"I won’t."
Julian Ford replied in a calm voice.
After that, for half a month, Scarlett truly didn’t suffer from Julian Ford’s verbal attacks.
However, it wasn’t really because this lord showed mercy, but rather because Julian Ford wasn’t in Capitoline during that period.
As for where he went, as an employee, Scarlett wasn’t qualified to inquire.
Julian Ford helped her solve the issue of her grandmother’s treatment, and she didn’t have to worry about the medical expenses, allowing Scarlett to focus entirely on using the money she earned to pay off debts.
Scarlett calculated carefully, and in ten years, she could clear all external debts.
She would still be in her thirties by then.
With the current economic downturn, it’s hard for housing prices to return to their previous levels, then she could take out a loan to buy herself a small house, even if she’s alone, but with a home, and her grandmother getting better, life would be increasingly hopeful.
The more Scarlett thought, the more energized and hopeful she became.
Skyler Miller had just come down from the quarterly review meeting and seeing Scarlett, he said to her, "Scarlett, there’s an overseas training opportunity from the company, lasting half a month, each department has one spot, and it’ll be you for our department." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Scarlett was surprised, "Me?"
Skyler Miller smiled, "Don’t want to go?"
"I do!"
Veridian’s training isn’t just going through the motions; they’ve genuinely invited many notable figures in the finance industry for lectures.
It’s particularly high in value.
While excited, Scarlett cautiously asked, "There are so many people in our department, and I’ve only been with the company for less than two years. Would it be inappropriate for me to go?"
Skyler Miller said, "This kind of training, the company has default arrangements for new employees to early receive industry culture education. You go in peace, no need to worry."
Scarlett thanked him with a bright smile.
Veridian has always been known for efficiency, and with the training notice out, Scarlett and the others were set to depart the next day.
Unluckily, Scarlett’s flight seat was right next to Chloe Grant.
Chloe Grant still maintained a nonchalant attitude towards her, but her face appeared worse than before.
Scarlett somewhat knew the reason why.
Penelope Shaw’s KTV was shut down for illegal activities, and it’s been unable to operate, even Ryan Ford couldn’t do much.
Her uncle Chester Grant was a gambling enthusiast, so they couldn’t rely on him.
Life was naturally not as good as before.
After arriving at the destination, Scarlett checked in at the hotel.
The training was to start the next day, so that evening they were free to do as they liked. Scarlett had dinner at the hotel with colleagues, then teamed up to explore the local city center.
Being young, they were less reserved, and very quickly the large group scattered into smaller ones.
Scarlett strolled leisurely by the famous river in the area.
This place was originally known for its romance, and the riverbank was dazzlingly lit, stunningly beautiful.
The passing pedestrians included many couples who boldly stopped to kiss.
Scenes like these were relatively rare back home, making Scarlett feel quite bashful, quickening her steps to the less crowded areas.
Passing a stone bridge, she inadvertently glanced.
Standing on the bridge were a man and a woman, the man wearing a black coat, noble and handsome.
That perfectly deep profile, Scarlett was far too familiar with.
If it wasn’t Julian Ford.
The bridge’s lamp light was dim, akin to moonlight, the woman beside Julian Ford suddenly turned, hugging him tightly, as if trying to melt into his body.
Scarlett had a good memory, and that woman’s face, even if she only saw it once a few years ago.
She recognized it as Zoe Sutton.
In the faint lighting, their reflections on the bridge’s surface stretched, forming a long, ambiguous silhouette.
The boss reminiscing with an old flame, Scarlett knew better, quickly averting her gaze, and hurriedly stepping away.
"Stop."
She hadn’t walked far when Julian Ford’s cool and collected voice sounded from behind.
Scarlett halted, and turning around saw Julian Ford had already reached her.
Zoe Sutton stood beside Julian Ford, her beautiful eyes sweeping over Scarlett, bearing scrutiny.
"President Ford."
Scarlett greeted him courteously and distantly.
Julian Ford tossed her a car key, "Go to the parking lot, and drive the car out."
"..."
Scarlett was bewildered, but currently, in every sense, Julian Ford was her boss, and when the boss gives orders, there’s no reason for her to question why. So she obediently nodded, found the car, and drove it to the street side.
Julian Ford opened the back door, gentlemanly escorting Zoe Sutton into the car.
He himself got into the front passenger seat.
