Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 493 - 471: Wedding Details
When Quentin Thorne mentioned this, Lawyer Caldwell immediately agreed: "My daughter met a decent boy before, and they were compatible in many ways, but the guy insisted on having the wedding back in his hometown at the start. My daughter learned she wouldn’t get to wear a wedding dress at her own wedding, saying it would be a lifelong regret. We all advised her that as long as the guy was nice, wearing a wedding dress wasn’t that important... But what did the kid say? He wouldn’t even give me the wedding I wanted, so how could he be considered nice?"
Quentin Thorne quickly asked, "So what happened in the end? Did they get married?"
Lawyer Caldwell laughed: "Old Thornton, you know my daughter is still single. Would she be single if it had worked out?"
It didn’t seem like he regretted his daughter losing a match due to the wedding, but rather there was a hint of approval.
Simon Forrester understood what these two old-timers, who added up over a hundred years, meant.
He didn’t say much, just remarked, "I’ll discuss it with Annie tonight and see what she thinks. If she wants to have the wedding somewhere else, I’ll make it happen!"
Quentin Thorne nodded contentedly, instructing, "Handle this matter well; don’t let the elders have complaints about Annie."
"Okay, I understand." Simon Forrester smiled and asked, "Can I go see what Annie is busy with now?"
Quentin Thorne patted his arm: "Go ahead!"
Simon Forrester then got up and went back to his room to find Sienna Thornton.
On the floor, there were four combination boxes, three of which were open, with documents and files scattered everywhere: on the table, floor, and sofa.
Simon Forrester took off his coat, hung it on the rack, walked up behind Sienna Thornton, leaned down to encircle her waist, kissed her cheek, and asked, "What are you busy with?"
Sienna Thornton turned her face to kiss him back for a second, then quickly looked back at the documents, saying as she read, "I’m looking over the property transfer documents and procedures of the 58 shops your family gave. If everything’s fine, I’ll sign, and Lawyer Caldwell will take them later."
Simon Forrester nodded, turned around, and sat on the bench at the end of the bed.
Watching Sienna Thornton’s serious demeanor, he asked, "Will it bother you if I talk to you while you’re going through the documents?"
"No, it won’t."
Simon Forrester understood and pondered for a while, saying: "It suddenly occurred to me that I’ve never asked if you have any thoughts about the wedding ceremony."
He really hadn’t thought or asked before. He always assumed that getting married meant picking up the bride from her family home in the morning, holding a ceremony, serving tea to the elders, hosting a wedding banquet at a hotel in the evening, thanking the guests, and holding a return banquet at the bride’s home the next day. That would be the wedding.
But after hearing the two old-timers outside, he realized there were also seaside weddings and castle weddings.
When he first heard it, he thought to himself: Are those who go abroad to have weddings either too free or have no work? With how busy everyone is, who has the time to hold a wedding abroad? What’s the point of not having it at home but going abroad? Isn’t that being idle? With that time, wouldn’t it be better to read more books and get more sleep?
Even though he thought this, he also became more thoughtful, realizing he had never discussed wedding matters with Sienna Thornton. What if she really wanted a seaside wedding? Would it become a lifelong regret if he didn’t make it happen for her? 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
At this point, when he asked this, Sienna Thornton didn’t immediately reply. She flipped to another page of the document and asked casually, "What thoughts?"
"Just that many new couples have weddings abroad, right? Like the guy who sings, and his young model wife, they specially went to a castle in Britione for their wedding."
Sienna Thornton wasn’t sure who he meant: "A singer? Who?"
Simon Forrester thought for a bit, couldn’t recall the name but remembered some news from years back: "The one with very small eyes, and wasn’t very clear in diction when singing."
Sienna Thornton laughed: "You mean Jay Chaucer?"
"I think that’s the name."
Sienna Thornton burst out laughing: "You don’t even know Jay Chaucer? Who did you listen to before?"
Simon Forrester pondered, asking, "You mean Chinese singers?"
"Yes."
"For Chinese male singers, I like Jeff Archer, Jason Linton, and Eason Conrad." After saying this, Simon Forrester felt he strayed from the topic, so he brought it back around, "You haven’t answered my question."
Sienna Thornton continued looking at the documents, "Hmm" a sound, said: "I don’t want any fuss. If it weren’t for my parents’ disapproval, I’d even prefer a travel wedding."
Seeing they had the same thought, Simon Forrester felt relieved and cheekily asked: "Not wanting fuss, that’s a man’s idea. You, a young lady, have zero thoughts or demands about your own wedding? Can’t you aspire to have a magical seaside wedding?"
Sienna Thornton laughed but didn’t respond immediately. After signing the document, she turned to sit next to him.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, smiling playfully: "That’s all I aspire to. What? Now you don’t fancy me?"
Simon Forrester chuckled, kissing her on the nose: "How could that be! You’re a major boss holding multiple nuclear patents now, I’m afraid you’ll tire of me and kick me away in the future."
Sienna Thornton burst out laughing, holding onto his neck and laughing until her stomach hurt. Once she calmed down, she said, "I didn’t expect Grandma to give me these things; I didn’t originally want them."
"Why not?" Remembering Lawyer Caldwell’s announcement this morning about these patents, Old Master Forrester, Zane Forrester, and his wife’s looks of disbelief, slight shame, and helplessness, Simon Forrester felt amused. "You saw my grandpa and parents’ expressions this morning, right? In the future, when marrying off our daughter, using your grandmother’s patents as part of her dowry, just think about our in-law’s reactions. Isn’t that satisfying?"
Sienna Thornton gave him a shove, disdaining: "You’re so boring! Giving a daughter a dowry, you’re just looking forward to seeing the in-laws embarrassed?"
Simon Forrester giggled sheepishly: "Not exactly." He then added, "But poking a needle at the in-laws’ pride isn’t too bad either..."
Sienna Thornton thought he was childish, didn’t want to pay him any attention, and went back to signing documents.
Simon Forrester thought about how later he’d explain to Quentin Thorne that Sienna Thornton also didn’t want a wedding abroad and then left the room.
After explaining to Quentin Thorne, Quentin didn’t insist but only said it was good he sought Sienna Thornton’s opinion. Still, he asked many details about the wedding day, including the groom’s family hosting the wedding banquet at a hotel that evening, which wedding planning company was preparing the venue, how big the venue was, and the wedding planning costs, among other details.
For the wedding venue, Sylvia Langley was handling it, and Simon Forrester was unsure whether they were using real or fake flowers at the site or if the aisle was transparent, but Quentin asked all these things in detail.
In his mind, Simon Forrester had a million questions: Is it our wedding or yours?
