Chapter 462: Chapter 440: One Day Without Seeing You (Second Update)

After dinner, Ian Grant tidied up the dining room and kitchen, while Quentin Thorne watched TV and brewed tea in the living room, with Sienna Thornton sitting with him and chatting.

Both of them had studied law, and they shared many views and opinions on legal matters, allowing them to delve deeply into their discussions. Additionally, there were many topics regarding parent-child relationships that were difficult to discuss outside, but now they could explore them freely and in depth.

Quentin Thorne brushed off the frustration he had felt earlier due to Ian Grant.

Ian Grant seemed to still be upset, making a loud clatter while washing dishes in the kitchen. Quentin Thorne said something to him, and afterwards, it became quiet. When the kitchen was tidied up, Ian went upstairs with a sour expression.

Sienna Thornton continued chatting with Quentin Thorne.

After a while, Mina Thorne returned, changed into her slippers, and silently intended to go to the second floor. It wasn’t until Quentin Thorne called her that she expressionlessly walked into the living room and sat across from Sienna Thornton.

Quentin Thorne smiled and asked his youngest daughter, "Where did you go tonight?"

"Had dinner with Seth Sutton."

Sienna Thornton heard the name Seth Sutton and shifted her gaze to Mina Thorne.

Mina Thorne caught her look but quickly turned away.

Quentin Thorne asked again, "What’s your situation now?"

Mina Thorne replied in a flat tone, "We might get back together."

Quentin Thorne’s tone rose slightly upon hearing this, "What do you mean by ’might’? If it’s not suitable, better end it early! You’re not getting any younger, you’re the same age as your sister, and your sister is getting married in a couple of months. You’re still wasting time with Seth Sutton!"

Mina Thorne clearly didn’t want to discuss this topic in front of Sienna Thornton. She shot her a cold glance and turned to go upstairs.

Sienna Thornton was curious if this "Seth Sutton" was the same "Seth Sutton" who had targeted her at the police station, so she casually asked, "Is this Seth Sutton the deputy captain of the West District Criminal Investigation Unit?"

Quentin Thorne nodded, "He was the one handling your case back then."

Sienna Thornton realized and laughed, "When he interrogated me, he was so sure I was the criminal and insisted on locking me up no matter what."

Quentin Thorne knew what she was suspecting and explained, "He was probably using psychological tactics at the time. Besides, back then, aside from Rex and Uncle Forrester, no one knew about our relationship. So don’t overthink it."

Having her thoughts seen through, Sienna Thornton was straightforward and laughed, "That’s good. So what’s Officer Sutton’s relationship with Mina now? Will he become part of the Thorne Family in the future?"

Quentin Thorne sighed, looking troubled, "You heard earlier too. In a few days, I’ll call him over to the house to see his attitude. If he’s still indifferent towards Mina, then I must persuade Mina to move on."

Sienna Thornton didn’t ask further, chatted with Quentin Thorne about family matters for a bit more, and then went upstairs to prepare for rest.

Passing by Mina Thorne’s room, she heard Ian Grant speaking inside. She wasn’t interested in listening and went back to her room to get her pajamas for a shower.

After showering, while drying her long hair, she suddenly missed Simon Forrester dearly, longing for his gentle way of blow-drying her hair, his loving late-night snacks, and his warm embrace.

But now... loneliness, emptiness, and cold.

Sienna Thornton quietly put away the hairdryer, lay down on the bed, and called Simon Forrester.

When the call connected, she asked, "What are you doing?"

"Looking over some documents," Simon Forrester said, as he turned a page in his hand, "Tonight is finally quiet, I ought to get more work done, right?"

Sienna Thornton laughed, "Working overtime is good, saves you from running around outside."

"I might need to go out tomorrow night."

"Where to?"

"Jack Hawthorne became a dad, I’m going to give a gift for the child."

Hearing this, Sienna Thornton sat up from the bed and exclaimed, "Oh, was it Captain Thornton’s baby?"

Simon Forrester was speechless for a moment, "Who else would it be?"

Sienna Thornton laughed heartily, "I heard Jack Hawthorne was quite the playboy back in the day."

Her impression of the frivolous Jack Hawthorne was mediocre, hence her somewhat mischievous speculation.

Simon Forrester didn’t respond to that, instead he asked, "Do you want to go with me tomorrow night?"

Sienna Thornton thought for a moment and said, "No, I’m not familiar with them, it would be awkward to go."

Simon Forrester understood and didn’t press her further.

The two shifted their conversation to other topics, Simon Forrester with the speakerphone on, working while chatting with her. She lowered her voice to report her verbal quarrels with Ian Grant in the evening, as well as the situation between Mina Thorne and Seth Sutton.

Simon Forrester didn’t express much opinion, mostly listening to her vent, occasionally giving some response. But as he listened, he suddenly remembered something.

Two years ago, when Sienna Thornton’s guesthouse got involved in a lawsuit, he was staying at her old apartment, and Jack Hawthorne came personally to invite him to the Northeast. It was Jack’s first time meeting Sienna, yet he claimed to have once dated a woman very similar to Sienna.

Instinct told him that Jack Hawthorne and Mina Thorne had dated.

The two of them, one a playboy and the other a prosecutor, seemed unlikely to be together, but there was also Gage Grant between them. Gage was Jack’s good brother, and at the same time Mina Thorne’s cousin.

Thinking about it this way, it was entirely possible.

"Hey~ are you listening?" Sienna Thornton called out.

Simon Forrester snapped back, "Listening."

Sienna Thornton continued, "I can’t see through Mina Thorne, which makes me a bit scared. She doesn’t show everything on her face like her mother does. She seems harmless, but how do we know what she’s really thinking?..."

Simon Forrester didn’t say anything at first, then after listening to her analysis, he said, "I’ll find a chance to look into it for you, so you can put your mind at ease."

"Great, great."

The two talked for a long time until it was late into the night and it was time to rest, so Sienna Thornton reluctantly hung up the phone.

It was only the first day apart, why did it feel so hard to bear?

-

The next day was Sunday. Simon Forrester didn’t have work, so he spent the day at the old residence entertaining Old Master Forrester. In the evening, he rummaged through Grandma Forrester’s safe and took out a jade safety lock meant for future Forrester descendants, then headed to Jack Hawthorne’s place.

The Hawthorne Family was in aviation and super-real estate projects, with assets all around the world. Jack Hawthorne was also extravagant and wasteful, having seen all sorts of good things. Therefore, Simon Forrester didn’t bother buying the usual things seen on the market and directly gifted an invaluable antique jade safety lock for Jack’s son, representing personal sincerity and also saving face for the Forrester Family.

The car stopped outside Jack Hawthorne’s supersized villa near the airport, where Tobias Blackwood’s Audi, Gage Grant’s Bugatti Veyron, and Logan Lockwood’s Pagani were lined up outside.

Simon Forrester parked his S90 next to Logan Lockwood’s Pagani. Before he even got out of the car, a guard rushed out from inside to shoo him away: "Go, go, go! This isn’t a parking spot, park your car somewhere else!"

Simon Forrester: ???

He turned off the engine, picked up the gift, and got out of the car.

The guard ran up, looking fierce and sinister, "I told you to move! Didn’t you hear? Park the car elsewhere!"
