Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 441 - 420: Simon Forrester Visits the Office
Faye Lucas said: "Last time you mentioned that you wanted to gift 25% of your shares to Ms. Thorne. I’ve calculated that, regarding the future profits and personal income tax responsibility for the recipient, the tax for the gift method is higher."
At this moment, Gavin Gale opened Simon Forrester’s office door. After Simon Forrester went in, Faye Lucas followed.
Simon Forrester took off his suit jacket and hung it on the floor-standing coat rack, then greeted Faye Lucas: "Sit."
Faye Lucas sat down.
Simon Forrester sat at the executive chair and asked: "Then what tax method would be cheaper?"
Faye Lucas: "By transferring shares, future taxes would be cheaper. But the prerequisite is, you must transfer the shares intended for Ms. Thorne at a reasonable price to her. This way, when she sells these shares in the future, she only needs to pay tax on the profit amount."
Simon Forrester: "..."
Gavin Gale timely reminded Faye Lucas: "Chairman Forrester wants to gift the shares to Ms. Thorne, and doesn’t want the other party to know. If transferring is done, financial operations can be discussed, but it loses Chairman Forrester’s original intention. Moreover, with the transfer method, other shareholders will have priority purchasing rights, which could bring unpredictable factors to Chairman Forrester’s gifting."
"What Gavin said is correct." Simon Forrester nodded thoughtfully, then said to Faye Lucas, "She won’t sell the shares readily, so for the tax issue you mentioned, don’t consider it for now. Just handle it as a gift."
After speaking, he picked up a document on the desk, about to speak with Gavin Gale when he saw Faye Lucas didn’t intend to leave. Simon Forrester gave her a faint glance: "Anything else?"
Faye Lucas hesitated briefly and asked: "But gifting shares also requires approval from other shareholders."
To this, Simon Forrester seemed mentally prepared, urging: "I’ll handle that. If there’s nothing else, you can leave."
Faye Lucas didn’t say more and quickly left the chairman’s office.
Simon Forrester watched the closed door and asked Gavin Gale, "How do you find President Rhodes’s performance?"
Gavin Gale: "She’s not the most outstanding financial executive, yet she’s currently the most experienced and can most effectively restrain some actions of Mr. Jenner." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Simon Forrester seemed thoughtful, appearing a bit irritated, pressed his tie slightly looser: "Indeed, not outstanding enough. Recently, pay more attention and see if there’s anyone in their late thirties, who has served as CFO at a Fortune 500 industrial group headquarters, preferably male."
Gavin Gale nodded: "Understood."
.
After Faye Lucas left Simon Forrester’s office, she returned to her downstairs office, pondered a bit, and called her brother Harrison Rowe.
When the call connected, she said "Bro," and asked: "Did Chairman Forrester break up with his previous girlfriend?"
Harrison Rowe was busy on his end, replied: "Which one?"
Faye Lucas: "The Lawyer Thornton who served as legal director at The Forresters two years ago. Did she leave The Forresters because she broke up with Chairman Forrester?"
Harrison Rowe: "They didn’t break up, did they? They’re about to get married."
Faye Lucas took a deep breath and hurriedly hung up the phone.
She didn’t expect Simon Forrester would be planning a wedding with his girlfriend yet wants to gift shares to another woman...
-
Office of the Treaty and Law Department, Section Two.
Sienna Thornton worked all day, feeling both tired and sleepy and looked at the clock, it was just after eight in the evening.
She leaned back in her office chair, rubbed her stiff neck, and stared blankly through the glass outside the office hall.
Outside, the lights were bright, everyone was busy on their own, neatly organized. She dazedly watched for a while, shook her neck, and continued working.
After a while, Wendy Jacobs knocked and came in: "Boss, there’s a Mr. Forrester looking for you."
"Hmm?" Sienna Thornton put down her pen, instinctively looked toward the hall outside, searching for that familiar figure, "Where is he?"
"The security office called to inform, he’s probably downstairs."
Sienna Thornton became more cautious: "Did they say the full name?"
Wendy Jacobs: "Seems like his name is Julius Forrester!"
Sienna Thornton was pleasantly surprised: "Let security let him up." After speaking, she got up, grabbed her coat, and left the office.
She took the elevator down, just reached the entrance, saw Simon Forrester carrying Starbucks bags, walking across the vast plaza.
The late autumn wind blew up a corner of his suit jacket, creating pleasing folds.
Sienna Thornton jogged over, he saw her, quickly walked over, they met in the middle of the plaza.
Sienna Thornton took a paper bag from his hand, intimately hugged his arm, and asked: "Why did you come? Have you eaten?"
"I ate in the staff cafeteria, came to pick you up from work."
Sienna Thornton, filled with happiness, walked with him towards the hall: "Next time, don’t come. I can walk over in just ten minutes, returning on my own. Why not read a book in the dorm, the wind is so strong."
They entered the elevator, Simon Forrester wrapped his arm around her waist, was about to kiss her but remembered it’s her workplace, so refrained, withdrew his hand.
Sienna Thornton curiously looked at the items in the bag: "What did you get? This bag has desserts, what’s in yours?"
"Hot milk."
Sienna Thornton praised his thoughtfulness, typically people buy coffee at Starbucks, rarely hot milk, but he noted it’s evening, avoiding coffee to not disturb everyone’s sleep.
He’s always considerate and attentive.
Sienna Thornton felt like she found a treasure, instinctively hugged his arm again.
After a few seconds, the elevator door opened, Sienna Thornton withdrew her hand, simultaneously tucked away her gentle demeanor, straightened up, instantly became the rigorous yet approachable Director Thornton.
She led Simon Forrester into the main office, busy subordinates looked over in groups, saw the charismatic, handsome, well-dressed gentleman behind their leader, exchanged ambiguous glances.
Sienna Thornton beckoned Wendy Jacobs, handed the bags from Simon and herself to her, lightly instructed her to distribute to each colleague.
Then, Sienna Thornton clapped her hands, used a voice just loud enough for everyone to hear: "You’ve worked hard, have some snacks and take a break."
After speaking, amidst the cheers of the subordinates, she took Simon Forrester into her office.
She closed the door, but didn’t pull the transparent glass blinds.
Simon Forrester found a seat on the sofa, casually picked up the newspaper on the table, smiled and said: "Don’t mind me, continue working, let me know when you can leave."
He was there, Sienna Thornton found it hard to shift from her joyful mood to work, so she sat and chatted with him for a while. When Wendy Jacobs brought in desserts and milk, she ate her fill, calmed down, and resumed working.
While she focused on her tasks, Simon Forrester quietly sat nearby accompanying her, occasionally reading the paper, sometimes watching her, his gaze admiring, as if viewing a perfect piece of art.
During those hours, Sienna Thornton wasn’t always sitting; when discovering problems, she would carry files and pen to discuss outside with subordinates.
Every time, Simon Forrester would turn around and watch her from the transparent glass wall.
She wore a navy-blue transparent soft gauze shirt with abstract large floral designs in red and rice on the shoulders, a black camisole underneath, paired with a bean-red knee-length high-waist pencil skirt, and stiletto heels.
Her figure was slim yet not thin, her legs long and straight, her demeanor graceful, even when her body leaned against the booth, she didn’t slouch, maintaining an upright posture.
Her expression was quite serious and earnest during work discussions, contrasting her usual cute and coquettish demeanor with Simon Forrester.
Simon Forrester rarely saw this side of her, suddenly felt a unique stirring heart fermenting wildly.
