Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 365 - 346: We’re Going Home
As if trying to vent all the grievances from the past 48 hours, Sienna Thornton clung to Simon Forrester, crying incessantly, smearing his dark coat with tears and snot, making it glisten.
She sobbed and hiccupped, hardly able to form coherent words: "I want... to go home..."
Simon Forrester’s eyes were red, as he took the coat Sienna had left in his office from Rhonda Wagner and draped it over Sienna, wrapping an arm around her as they walked out: "Let’s go, we’re going home!"
By the gate, there were three parked cars: a black S90, a white Range Rover, and a black Audi sedan.
Sienna’s entire face was still swollen from crying, and she was so weak she seemed like she could be blown over by the wind. Simon supported her as they walked straight to the S90.
Before getting in the car, Simon turned to Rhonda Wagner, who was following behind: "Rhonda, you haven’t rested for two days either, go back and get some proper rest. As for the case, we’ll discuss it after Lawyer Thornton is back to work in a few days!"
Rhonda smiled and nodded, getting into the white Range Rover parked nearby.
Simon started the car, ready to leave the police station. As the car passed the black Audi parked at the side, Sienna rubbed her eyes and asked: "Why is Dean Thorne’s car here?"
"Is it?" Simon glanced at the rear-view mirror, "How could he be here? Did you mistake the license plate?"
Sienna closed her eyes and shook her head: "Maybe I did, I haven’t slept for sixty hours, my eyes are almost blind..."
These words cut into Simon’s heart like a knife, wishing he could punch Seth Sutton right now.
He suppressed his anger, steering with one hand while holding Sienna’s hand with the other: "Let’s first go home and get a good sleep. Whatever it is, deal with it when your body and mind have recovered."
Sienna nodded, said nothing more, leaned her body toward the seat, resting her head on the headrest, folded her arms, and closed her eyes to rest.
She maintained this posture throughout the journey. Simon wasn’t sure if she was asleep, so he didn’t dare to talk and disturb her. It was silent all the way, until the car entered the apartment’s underground parking, where he lightly shook her arm: "Candy, we’re home."
"Hmm?" Sienna seemed truly asleep, looking confused when she opened her eyes, "I just took a nap, that was fast..."
Simon chuckled: "You’ve slept for nearly an hour, that’s no nap."
"Oh..." Sienna, supporting her heavy head, sat up straight, "I’m really exhausted."
The car interior lights were off, and some of the basement’s incandescent light refracted in through the windshield, casting a dim glow on Sienna’s face. Her already small face seemed even smaller, with the adorable baby fat on her cheeks all gone.
Simon was both distressed and saddened, wanting to pull her into his arms tenderly, but remembering she hadn’t eaten, bathed, or slept in two days, he suppressed that urge, got out of the car, and walked over to the passenger side to help her out.
He helped her out of the car, closed the door, then wrapped his arm around her shoulder as they walked toward the elevator.
"Do you want to eat out or should I cook for you at home?" Simon asked.
"Not much of an appetite, make me some porridge... I want to take a shower first, I’m very tired."
"Okay."
When the elevator arrived, Simon helped her inside: "Let me take you to have your hair washed? You can lie down and sleep for a while, don’t do it at home."
Sienna leaned her heavy head on his shoulder, softly replying, "Okay."
.
After getting a hair treatment at the salon downstairs, back home, Simon ran a bath for Sienna, then went back down to the grocery store, buying fresh beef bones and meat.
When the beef bone broth was ready, he added the sliced beef and rice for porridge, brought it to a boil on high heat, then let it simmer for half an hour, adding ginger strips and scallions to drive away the cold and nourish the stomach.
Once the beef porridge was ready, he went to the bathroom, finding Sienna soaking in the bathtub with her head leaned back. Fortunately, the bathtub was equipped with intelligent temperature control, keeping the water at about 38 degrees; otherwise, after over an hour, it would have been cold.
He picked up the bathrobe from the rack beside him, gently brushed Sienna’s forehead, both to test the temperature and gently wake her.
Sienna didn’t immediately open her eyes, but moments later, tears fell from her eyes.
Simon’s heart skipped a beat; he didn’t care that she was wet, and just held her in his arms, constantly kissing her brows and tears.
"I’m here; don’t be afraid."
She cried in his arms: "I don’t want to go back to that place again, it was truly agonizing..."
During the detention at the police station, when Seth Sutton provoked and harassed her, she didn’t cry; but now, facing Simon’s meticulous and warm tenderness, she cried, like a child aggrieved beyond words.
Luckily, she wasn’t sent to the detention center; otherwise, once released, it would have been more than just grievances.
Simon felt grateful to Quentin Thorne in his heart.
Although Quentin was unwilling to step in directly, he indeed made significant efforts in this matter. Otherwise, Sienna couldn’t have her suspicions cleared so quickly.
Simon hugged her patiently, comforting her, and also cracked jokes to cheer her up.
After crying for a while, she finally got up, put on the bathrobe, changed into clean, soft loungewear, and sat down with Simon in the dining room to eat porridge.
Noticing Simon’s slightly unshaven chin, the dark circles under his eyes, and the state of their home unchanged for three days, she asked, concerned: "You haven’t been back either these two days, have you?"
"No." To ease her worry, Simon added, "But while waiting in the police station lobby, I did manage to nap a little at night and eat, so don’t worry about me."
"After dinner, you should quickly shower and rest early, let the rest wait until tomorrow."
Simon nodded, a faint smile on his lips: "Okay, let’s sleep together."
.
After showering, Simon entered the bedroom to find Sienna already asleep.
Drying his hair, he sat beside her on the bed, gazing upon her with affectionate tenderness.
The towel in his hand was tossed aside as he gently caressed her pale but still smooth and delicate face.
In her sleep, she furrowed her brows slightly, curling into the blanket.
Simon leaned down to kiss her brow...
.
Sienna slept from past eleven that night until over ten the next night, sleeping a full twenty-four hours, seemingly making up for all the sleep she missed before.
Upon waking, she found the room pitch black, with the curtains tightly drawn. Unsure of the time, she anxiously felt for her phone on the bedside table. Seeing it was just after eleven the next night, she sighed in relief.
Putting down the phone, she felt a pair of strong arms circled around her waist, realizing Simon had been there all along, her heart filled with a sweet warmth as she snuggled into his embrace.
Thinking he was asleep, she moved carefully to avoid waking him, only to find, once in place — a fierce storm of passion immediately swept through...
