Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 179 - 177: Before the Trip
When they got home, Simon Forrester told Sienna Thornton to take a bath first, while he went to the kitchen to wash a few pounds of large cherries, placed them on a plate, and put it on the coffee table for Sienna to enjoy while watching TV later.
After his own bath, he suddenly remembered that the bracelet he got from Matriarch Forrester was left in the car and hurried down to fetch it.
As he entered the door, he said, "Almost left the valuable items in the car overnight."
Sienna, who was spitting cherry pits into a paper box, playfully said, "Isn’t your most precious item sitting right here with you?"
Simon changed into slippers and sat down next to her, "Stop teasing, I’ve got a good thing for you."
He opened the square jewelry box in his hand, took out the sandalwood bracelet inlaid with gold, and slipped it onto Sienna’s wrist, "Look, do you like it?"
Sienna moved her gaze from the TV to glance at it, "Seems a bit old-fashioned."
Simon held her hand and examined it from different angles, "Seems like it is a bit. I’ll get you some other jewelry next time I go back."
Sienna was engrossed in a legal variety show and didn’t pay much attention to what he was saying, just replied, "Oh," and continued watching TV.
"So are you going to wear this bracelet or not?"
Sienna weighed the bracelet in her hand, "It’s a bit heavy, inconvenient, you keep it." She said, handing it back to Simon.
Simon carefully slipped it off her wrist, "I’ll put it in the drawer, take it out yourself when you want to wear it."
"Okay."
After putting the bracelet away, Simon sorted the dirty clothes they both changed out of and threw them into the washing machine, then nestled next to Sienna with his phone.
A little later, Sienna’s phone beeped. She looked at it, "A flight at 12, let’s leave the house at 9:30?"
"Sounds about right."
Sienna began setting the alarm.
Simon watched her set it for 8:30 and reminded, "Wake up at 8."
Sienna turned to glance at him, noticing the intent in his eyes, nudged him with her shoulder, playfully teased, "Aren’t you afraid of being too tired to travel?"
"We’re flying to Azure Harbor, not walking, it won’t matter." With that, he moved closer, cupping Sienna’s face, and kissed her.
Sienna squirmed, "Hey, stop, I have to get up and pack."
"Let’s have a little chat before packing."
"Mmm..."
*
They messed around on the sofa, worked up a sweat, and took another bath. By the time they finished packing, it was already two in the morning.
Simon prepared his documents and noticed Sienna hadn’t come into the room yet, so he went to the guest room to check, finding her rummaging through drawers for something.
He walked over and sat on the bed behind her. The bed was strewn with cardholders, wallets, travel document pouches, documents scattered everywhere.
"What’s missing?" he asked.
Sienna frowned, "I can’t find my Azure Harbor resident ID. How am I supposed to cross the border tomorrow?"
She flipped over and dumped everything out of her cardholder.
Simon helped her search, "Try to recall, when was the last time you used that document?"
Sienna pondered for a while and opened her laptop to check previous trips, "Around the end of last year, I think. The Azure Harbor government announced the upgrade to second-generation IDs in December, and I remember taking a look at it. It was at night, I was at home, probably reading a book at the time, what book was it..."
She switched to checking her computer’s reading notes, and after a while, suddenly dashed to the study like a rabbit.
Simon followed, seeing her grab a ladder, climb up a few levels, take a book from the bookshelf, flip a few pages, and pull out a small card from inside, exclaiming with joy, "Found it! I was using it as a bookmark!"
Simon: "...Come down quickly now that you’ve found it, don’t wave your arms and legs around up there."
"Got it!"
She was wearing a pink and white nightgown, a headband with bunny ears, and bunny slippers, looking like a little bunny spirit.
She descended the ladder, Simon opened his arms to catch her, and she jumped into him, waving the ID card, laughing, "I’m such a scatterbrain, using my ID as a bookmark!"
Simon, speechless, held her with one arm while he took her ID with the other and examined it.
In the document photo, she had long black hair parted in the middle, the hair neatly tucked behind her ears, large round eyes, sharp eyebrows, delicate nose and lips, with a perfectly oval face. Her bright eyes and white teeth, paired with the standard Hong Kong photo style, made her look a bit like a Hong Kong star.
Sienna smiled gleefully, hugging his waist, asked, "Was I prettier back then?"
"You’re even more beautiful now," adding a touch of elegance and confidence to her charm.
Simon kissed the corner of her lips, wrapped her in his arms, and took her back to the guest room to pack the pile of documents.
She organized the things, and he sat on the bed keeping her company, casually glancing through the photos in her various documents while chatting: "Didn’t you graduate from HKU several years ago? How come your resident ID is still valid?"
"When I just obtained my doctoral degree, HKU offered me a position to lure me, and got my resident status through the talented program."
Simon nodded, "Good thing you didn’t go teach at HKU."
"Ah, don’t mention it, I regret coming back to Brimfield, just look at these past few years..." She trailed off, noticing he seemed displeased, quickly turned around with a smile, and hugged him.
A certain Forrester idly fiddled with her documents, looked at her with staring eyes, "To soothe a wounded soul, the best way is—"
He tapped his lips with his index finger.
Sienna smiled and leaned over to kiss him.
He took the opportunity to lift her from the chair, pushed the documents scattered on the bed aside with one motion...
*
As a result, they barely fell asleep as it got close to dawn.
When the eight o’clock alarm went off, neither of them got up.
Fortunately, Sienna woke with a start at nine, glanced at the time, and hurriedly shook Simon, who slept like a log, "Get up, it’s nine o’clock!"
"Hmm... just a little longer..." Simon turned over, hugged the blanket, and fell back asleep.
Sienna twisted and pushed him, but he wouldn’t get up.
With no other option, she had to wash up herself, squeezed out his toothpaste, picked out his clothes for the day, and laid them on the bench at the foot of the bed, before going about her other tasks.
*
They made the flight just in time.
Simon wore sunglasses the whole time, propped his chin up, expressionless, not speaking or moving.
Sienna felt something was off, quietly lifted his sunglasses to find him dozing off.
She wanted to ask about the hotel booking, but seeing his state, angrily twisted his arm, scolding, "I told you to rest before the trip to conserve energy, will you do this again next time?"
Simon woke up from the twist, sucking his cheek in, frowned, "I’ll do this again next time... ideally make it so we don’t go out, spend the whole vacation playing at home..."
