"The winner of this game is... the Straw Hat Pirates!" the referee shouted, pointing toward their side of the crowd.
"Oh ho ho ho!" The Foxy Piratesβ crew members started cheering.
"Who will Straw Hat Luffy choose to join the crew? It has to be me, right?"
"No, itβll be me for sure!"
"Choose me! Choose me!"
At that moment, the captain of the crew, Foxy the Silver Fox, approached the Straw Hats with a few of his men.
"You must be so upset, Straw Hat boy," Foxy sneered. "After all that, you only won one person in the end!"
Luffy didnβt say anything, but Usopp chimed in. "Hey, what do you want to say, butt-head?"
"Butt... Butt-head?" Foxy tensed up, ready for a fight. "Do I really look like a butt-head?"
Behind him, Hamburg snickered. "Heβs right! You two look so much alike!"
Suddenly, Ikki walked over with a smile. "The person we were going to pick for the last round was actually you, butt-head Foxy."
"Hey! My name is Silver Fox Foxy! Donβt you want to have a final showdown with me, Straw Hat?" Foxy said. "In the final showdown, we can bet everything!"
Ikki was about to shake his head, but Luffy spoke up first. "Alright! Since youβre the one in the final showdown, Iβm not going to pick you!"
Luffy then randomly picked one of the crew members instead. The chosen person cheered, "Hahaha! Itβs me! He picked me!"
Ikki sighed and face-palmed. But if Luffy wanted to play, then he would play. And besides, with his mastery of Haki, Luffy could easily handle any of Foxyβs tricks.
Before the final match, stands were set up around the Foxy Piratesβ ship, with many people cheering and shouting either Luffyβs name or Foxyβs. Foxy had never lost a boxing match, so most of the crowd was on his side.
Luffy stepped into the ring and took off the towel that was covering his head, revealing a large afro, a hairstyle that symbolized strength. Ikki saw the afro and couldnβt help but think of Enel.
I wonder how Enel is doing right now? he thought to himself.
Meanwhile, in Water 7 at the Galley-La Company shipyard, Enel, who was hard at work, suddenly sneezed.
"Huh? Whoβs talking about me?" he wondered.
A shipwright called out to him. "Enel! Melt this gold for me!"
"Right away, foreman..." Enel said. He was no longer the arrogant person he used to be. The word "god" no longer came out of his mouth.
Gild Tesoro had left, and now Douglas Bullet was in charge of training him. Bullet was much more ruthless than Tesoro, and if he had ever heard Enel say the word "god," he would have punched him in the face. With Bulletβs discipline, Enelβs ego had become a lot less inflated.
Back with the Straw Hats, Luffy and Foxy were face to face in the boxing ring. Luffyβs afro made him take the fight seriously. He had to win this, even if it was just for the afro.
Foxy looked at Luffyβs confident stance and grinned. "Thatβs truly the hairstyle of a strong man!"
The two of them exchanged a fist bump, and the referee rang the bell, starting the game. As the bell rang, Luffy stood still, not moving. It wasnβt that he was confused, but that his movements had slowed down.
"How despicable! You ambushed him during the boxing etiquette!" Foxyβs crew members yelled. "You truly are amazing, Lord Foxy! Hahaha! Thatβs it, Master Foxy, beat him to a pulp!"
Luffy was caught in a slow-motion state, and Foxy began to land a series of punches with his spiked gloves, hitting all of Luffyβs weak spots. When Luffy finally regained his normal speed, he was sent flying.
Usopp, Chopper, and Nami were shocked.
"Donβt worry," Sabo said calmly. "Luffy wonβt lose."
"Exactly!" Ikki added. "How could he lose? Foxyβs a twenty-million-bounty pirate. Aside from his annoying Devil Fruit ability, the rest of him is useless!"
Ikki was right. Luffy playing in the first half of the Grand Line was unfair to most of his opponents.
Foxy was about to throw another flurry of punches, but as he raised his hand, Luffy moved. Using a burst of Nen to propel himself forward, Luffy suddenly appeared behind Foxy, dodging his Slow-Slow Beam. Ikki couldnβt help but admire Luffy. The move he just used was a variation of the Marinesβ Soru, but it was powered by Nen instead of raw strength.
Foxy didnβt have time to react, and Luffy sent him flying with a single Gomu Gomu no Rocket. The crowd cheered even louder, believing Foxy would get back up. But Foxy didnβt move.
"Did Captain Foxy get knocked out with one punch?" one of his crew members asked.
"It looks like it..." another replied.
"Straw Hat boy... Straw Hat boy!" The crew members started cheering for Luffy. Luffy had won, which meant they would now become members of the Straw Hat Pirates. As for Foxy? He was defeated, and no one cared what happened to him.
This was the cruel reality of a Davy Back Fight. Foxy regretted choosing boxing. He should have stuck with skating and dodgeball.
But his regret was useless; he was no longer the captain of the Foxy Pirates.
In the end, Foxy left the crew with just his two most loyal members. Luffy was kind enough to draw him a new pirate flag, but it looked exactly like a butt-head.
As for the rest of Foxyβs crew? Luffy couldnβt take them all, and the Going Merry wasnβt big enough anyway. So, he simply kicked them all off his crew, leaving Foxy alone to take responsibility for everything.
