One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 41 — Forty-one
3rd Person’s POV
Alexander and Serena’s eyes met, and there was a strange palpitation in both hearts.
Maya sensed the growing change in the atmosphere, so she said. "I think Mama calls for me. She must be in the kitchen, right? I’ll join her."
Without waiting for Serena’s reply, she dashed out, leaving behind Serena and Alexander who still maintained eye contact.
For a moment, no one spoke. They only stared into each other’s eyes as though no one else mattered.
It was Serena who broke the eye contact as she cleared her throat awkwardly.
"Mr. Blackwood," she proceeded to rise to her feet, but Alexander shook his head.
"You are still recovering. You shouldn’t stress yourself." He stopped her, and strode towards the sofa, and took a seat. "Besides, I have told you several times to stop addressing me as Mr. Blackwood. Call me by name."
"I find it unprofessional." Serena replied while fiddling with the helm of her dress.
"We have been intimate twice. I don’t see any unprofessionalism." Alexander said without batting his eyelids.
Serena’s eyes widened as she stared at him. "Alexander!" She whisper--yelled. "Someone could hear."
Alexander chuckled, his gaze fixated on her big black doe eyes. He loved the way his name rolled off her tongue smoothly.
"See... it isn’t that hard to address me by my name." Alexander stated..
Realization finally dawned on Serena. "You tricked me." She complained, instinctively pouting her lips.
Alexander looked at her lips, and he gulped. His Adam’s apple moved up and down while he tried to control himself.
Serena didn’t notice that he was uncomfortable as she kept blabbing about how he tricked her.
Alexander couldn’t take it anymore. He rose to his feet, walked straight to her, and covered her lips with his.
Serena’s eyes bulged with shock when she felt something cool on her lips.
Alexander sensing no response from her, bit her lips prompting her to open her mouth, which gave his tongue entry.
For a moment, Serena did nothing which allowed Alexander to take control. But before long, she started responding.
While the two fought for dominance, they had no idea that Mama and Maya were peeping behind the door as they watched the two engage in a heated kiss.
"They look good together." Mama whispered, her eyes holding utmost admiration.
"You are right." Maya agreed, while gushing.
"I just hope Serena overcomes her fear. It’s clear that they both like each other. So why are they still holding back?" Mama complained, and ended her statement with a sigh.
"It’s only a matter of time. Just give them time." Maya encouraged. She was rooting deeply for Alexander and Serena. She only wanted happiness for her friend.
Meanwhile, Jessica who had been fired from the company was at the bar, drinking.
"How... how could he... fire me?" She slurred out drunkenly while chugging down another glass.
"Miss Jessica." Suddenly, she heard her name being called.
She slowly looked up, and squinted. Her brows furrowed as she questioned. "Who are you?"
It was a lady who was putting on big glasses which hid half of her face.
The lady grinned and took a seat beside her. "I’m Rhea." She introduced herself.
"Well, Rhea... how did you know my name or where you could find me?" Jessica tilted her head while staring at the lady.
Rhea smiled gently. "You are just as the rumors say. Fierce and easily suspects others’ motives."
Jessica, on the other hand, had already had enough of her jokes. "Tell me, what do you want from me? Here to mock me as well? My parents face the risk of spending the rest of their life in prison, and while me?" She chuckled with self-derision. "I’ve been reduced to nothing but an unemployed b*tch."
Then she stared straight into Rhea’s eyes. "Tell me, are you here to mock me as well?"
Rhea shook her head. "Of course not."
Jessica’s gaze was filled with doubt. She clearly didn’t believe her.
"Miss. Jessica, I’m not here to mock you. Instead, I am here to help you." Rhea stated with a convincing smile.
Jessica’s brows knitted as suspicion was written all over her face. "You are here to help me? How?"
"You just need to follow me. And I can guarantee you’d have your revenge. Believe me."
Jessica fixed her gaze on Rhea who nodded reassuringly. "What do you need me to do?"

Three days later, Serena was fully recovered and ready to return to the office.
"You’re practically glowing." Mama complimented when Serena walked into the dining table.
Serena’s face heated. "You’re making me blush."
"I’m just speaking the truth." Mama chuckled.
"Alright. I’ll be late for my first day of resumption if I remain here." Serena said, picked up a glass of milk, and gulped it at once before rushing out.
"Wait! Won’t you have something to eat?" Mama shouted after her.
"I’ll be fine." Serena shouted back.
About forty-five minutes later, Serena arrived at the office. Taking a deep breath, she walked in while hoping that no one would sense her arrival.
Reality was vastly different from expectations. As she walked into the lobby of the company, all attention turned to her.
"Isn’t that Serena?"
"I heard that the President fired Jessica because she said horrible things against Serena."
"I heard that the President is in a relationship with her."
Serena’s eyes darted towards the intern who spoke last, and they all lowered their heads, clamping their mouths shut.
She let out a sigh. Although she expected this, hearing them utter such words.
When she got into the elevator, she wasn’t alone.
Serena tilted her head when she saw Alexander. "What was he doing here?" She whispered under her breath before she walked in.
Fortunately... or unfortunately, they weren’t the only ones present in the elevator. There were other workers in the elevator..
The workers exchanged glances with each other, and they moved close to each other. Serena watched their actions, and she frowned.
But what she didn’t know was that they were trying to create space for both she and Alexander.
The elevator ride was silent. A few seconds later, it dinged open, and the workers hastily walked out of the elevator leaving behind Alexander and Serena.
Serena rubbed her hands together while her eyes darted around.
"Miss Wilson, won’t you say a word of greeting?" Alexander’s voice sounded from above her head which caused Serena’s eyes to bulge out in shock.
