One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 14 — Fourteen
Serena’s POV
All through the ride, I was on edge. What would my colleagues say if they saw me coming out of Alexander’s car?
So many thoughts flashed through my mind, and I was unable to remain comfortable.
With every minute that passed, I let out a deep breath.
"What’s wrong?" Alexander spoke up, startling me.
I whipped my head towards him and I observed his side profile. He was handsome... perhaps the most handsome man I have ever met.
Wait what? What was I thinking? Snap out of it, Serena! I scolded myself internally.
’He is your boss.’ I took a deep breath to calm my nerves.
’But you slept with him.’ My subconscious protested.
"Serena!"
"Uh?" Confusion flickered in my eyes as I looked at Alexander who had already stopped driving.
"I asked you what was wrong." He said to me, and turned to face me. "You kept sighing."
"If you were in my position, I believe you’d do the same." I muttered under my breath.
"What did you say?" He asked, and my shoulders slumped.
"Mr. Blackwood, you’re driving me to the office. If people see me step out of your car, I’d be that talk of the office and I’d be drowned by crazy rumors."
I let out everything in a single breath.
"I’d love to see who dares to talk under my watch." He said calmly, and resumed driving.
I buried my face into my palms. I was dead meat. Completely finished. This was exactly what I prayed wouldn’t happen.
The moment Alexander’s car rolled into the company premises, my heart dropped straight into my stomach.
He really had to park right in front of the main entrance...
Today... of course.
He stepped out first, calm as ever. Meanwhile, I was silently begging God to turn me invisible.
’Serena," he said, opening my door for me.
Kill me now. Why was he doing this? Did he really want me to die?
I stepped out slowly, praying no one was watching—
I was wrong. Everyone was watching.
A cluster of employees near the entrance froze mid-conversation. One girl’s jaw literally dropped. Another whispered something behind her hand, and the guy beside her raised his brows so high they nearly slid off his forehead.
Heat crawled up my neck.
Alexander didn’t even notice — or he pretended not to. He simply adjusted his cufflinks like this was a normal Tuesday morning.
"Shall we?" he said.
I nodded stiffly, mentally drafting my resignation letter. It would be a problem to work with Alexander Blackwood.
As we walked in, I could feel eyes drilling holes into my back. Two interns hurriedly bowed to Alexander, then turned to each other the second we passed:
"Did you see that?"
"She came out of his car!"
"No way. Already?"
My stomach twisted.
When we reached the elevator, Alexander stepped inside. I didn’t. Not with him. Not with half the building watching.
"I’ll... take the next one," I said quickly. If I took the elevator with him, that’d literally kill me. The rumours, the whispers would spread like wildfire.
He looked at me for a moment, his expression unreadable, then nodded and let the doors close.
The second he was gone, I felt everyone exhale all at once, as if they’d been holding their breath for drama.
I hurried to my desk, but I barely sat down before it began.
The whispers. The glances. The head-to-toe sweeps. I was unable to bear it.
I could feel them talking about me even from across the room.
"She looked too expensive today."
"Did you see the dress?"
"She got out of his car."
"He just became our boss yesterday. Serena wasted no time."
My fingers trembled as I opened my laptop.
They weren’t even hiding it anymore. One woman straight-up stared at my neckline, scoffed, and leaned over to her friend.
"Some people move fast."
I swallowed the lump in my throat. I busied myself or I tried to. Focusing on the documents was hell, not when everyone had their eyes on you. This was all Alexander’s fault.
This was exactly what I feared. Exactly what I tried to avoid. And I was sure it was only the beginning.
"Well, well. Look who decided to show her face. The office slut herself. Serena, I didn’t realize you’d move on from Ethan this quickly."
I raised my head up, and my eyes met with the woman I hated the most... Jessica.
Today would be a long day.
