One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 106: Game Has Just Begun
"Who escaped?"
Grace froze, swallowing. She took a deep breath before disconnecting the call and turning.
She forced a smile on her face as she looked at the intruder.
Thomas.
"Aren’t you supposed to be at the company?" She asked casually, while she hoped that he wouldn’t press on the matter.
"I asked a question. Who escaped? Who were you talking to on the phone?" Thomas asked, crossing his arms across his chest as he leaned on the door, staring at his wife.
Grace laughed softly. "Thomas," she started with a smile. "I was talking with an old friend and we were catching on a series."
Thomas narrowed his eyes, the feeling of disbelief strong in him.
"You don’t watch series." Thomas pointed out.
Grace’s heart hammered against her chest. He was right... unfortunately for her.
"People change. And besides, you don’t care about me. So how do you know that I don’t like watching series?" She threw the question at him.
Thomas didn’t answer, instead he changed the topic. "Grandpa wants us at the hospital. Our son and Serena were involved in an accident."
Grace’s hands flew to her mouth with practiced shock as she forced a few teardrops. "W-what?" She stammered. "H-how did that happen?"
Thomas sighed. "No time to explain. We should be on our way to the hospital." He paused for a while, then added, "I’ll be waiting for you downstairs."
She nodded as she watched him walk away. Once he was done, the shocked and motherly expression was replaced with a maniacal look.
"You were lucky this time, dearest son." Her lips curled into a devious smirk. "But you won’t be so lucky the next. I’d make sure to get rid of you."
"That’s a mother’s promise."

Hospital>
Thomas and Grace walked into the hospital, with Elias in front.
When they got the ward number of the two, they walked straight.
As soon as they reached, Grace rushed to Alexander who was sitting calmly on the sofa.
"My son," she screamed, a feigned worried look on her face.
Alexander instinctively frowned as he pulled away.
"What are you doing?" He asked, his voice cold.
Grace wiped her tears as she took a step back. "I was worried when I found out you were involved in an accident. I cried all the way here. Your dad is here, you can ask him." She pointed to Thomas who was supporting Elias.
Alexander didn’t pay attention. Instead, he turned to his grandfather and sighed.
"You should be resting, grandpa." He scolded.
"I can’t rest after hearing that you were involved in an accident." Elias’s eyes darted around. "Where is Serena?" He probed softly.
"The other room with Grandpa Miles." Alexander answered.
"Then I should go see her. I hope she’s not badly hurt." Elias asked, and Alexander shook his head in return. "She’s only suffering from a minor concussion."
"Thomas, accompany me to the room." Elias instructed and Thomas did as he was instructed.
Once the two men left , silence reigned between Alexander and Grace.
Grace’s insides twisted as she thought to herself. "How could this boy be so disrespectful to me? I should have killed him when he was born."
Her features were twisted and it felt like she was about to murder someone.
"Son," she schooled her expression into something soft and motherly as she called out.
Alexander didn’t respond to her as he busied himself with his phone which left her standing in the middle of the ward... awkwardly.
"I’m your mother for God’s sake. You can’t keep ignoring me." She screamed, flipping as her chest rose and fell.
Alexander finally paid attention to her. "You sure don’t look like one."
Grace’s heart skipped a beat as she asked carefully. "What do you mean by your words?"
Alexander lips curved into a deadly smirk. "Whatever you think it means, then that’s what it means." He leaned back on the sofa, and spared her no glance.
Grace’s heart hammered in her chest as her forehead trickled with sweat. She looked at Alexander, really looked at him as a thought flashed through her mind.
’Could he know about the truth regarding his birth?’ She asked herself but dismissed the thought instantly. ’Impossible! I personally got rid of the evidence. No matter how capable he is, he should never be able to find the truth.’
Her gaze remained on Alexander who didn’t seem bothered that he had thrown her into a state of confusion and her hands tightened into fists.
’You have to go. You can’t keep being a hurdle. You really have to go.’ She muttered within, her eyes flashing with danger and menace before she schooled it into something soft.
She thought she was clever while hiding her expressions. Unfortunately for her, Alexander caught the glint in her dark eyes and he smiled knowingly.
Grace straightened her handbag, regaining composure with practiced elegance.
"You’ve changed," she said lightly, as though commenting on the weather. "You used to be warmer."
Alexander finally looked at her. This time, really looked at her.
"And you used to pretend better."
His words were quiet but they sliced through the air.
Grace’s smile faltered for half a second before returning. "I don’t know what you’re implying."
"You don’t?" His tone was almost amused. "That’s unfortunate."
Her pulse quickened. The boy—no, the man—sitting before her no longer resembled the child she had once dismissed so easily. There was calculation in his gaze now.
"You should focus on recovering," she replied smoothly. "Accidents can be... traumatic. They make people imagine things."
Alexander’s eyes darkened slightly. "This was not imagination."
Grace’s fingers twitched.
Before she could respond, the ward door opened.
Thomas and Elias stepped back in, and behind them was Serena.
She walked slowly, Miles at her side, one hand lightly supporting her elbow. A faint bandage rested at her temple, but her posture was steady.
Alexander rose to his feet instantly.
"You shouldn’t be walking around," he said, crossing the room in three strides.
"I’m fine," Serena reassured softly. "The doctor said I just need to rest."
Grace watched the exchange, something acidic pooling in her chest.
The way he looked at her. The way his entire demeanor shifted. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
That softness. That protectiveness. It made her sick in the stomach.
Miles cleared his throat. "The police came by," he announced gravely. "They believe the truck driver lost control... but the car tailing you disappeared before authorities arrived."
The room’s atmosphere changed.
Thomas frowned. "Tailing?"
Alexander’s gaze flickered briefly to Grace.
"Yes," he said calmly. "We were being followed."
Grace forced a sharp inhale, her hand flying to her chest once more. "Followed? Who would do such a thing?"
Alexander met her gaze.
"That," he said quietly, "is exactly what I intend to find out."
And for the first time in years, Grace felt something unfamiliar coil around her spine.
It was fear.
The real game had begun.
And this time, Alexander was playing the game as well.
