One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 105: A Grandfather’s Assurance
Miles rushed into the hospital and stopped a nurse.
"Where’s Serena Hale and Alexander Blackwood?" He demanded, holding the nurse tightly. His expression was filled with urgency as he stared straight into her eyes.
The nurse silently winced in pain, but she still calmly replied. "They are in the emergency room on the second floor."
Miles gave a rushed thank you and walked off, leaving behind a stupefied nurse.
"Well, that’s one energetic old man." She murmured under her breath, while rubbing her aching shoulder.
Miles didn’t care about the nurse’s thoughts. His entire thoughts were fixated on his grandchildren.
When he finally reached the second floor, Alexander was the first he saw. He walked towards him without hesitation.
Alexander who was pressing against his wound with one hand and typing on his phone with the other had no idea that Miles was there, standing just a few feet away from him.
"What happened?" 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
He paused his typing once he heard a familiar yet authoritative voice. Slowly, he raised his head and looked towards the source of the sound and he was taken aback when he laid his eyes on Miles..
"Grandpa Miles?" He called out, uncertainty laced in his voice. "What are you doing here?"
Miles scoffed as he walked closer to him with the help of his cane. "If the hospital hadn’t called me, were you planning on hiding that you and Serena got into an accident?"
"Wait. How did the hospital know to call you?" Alexander asked, confusion laced in his voice.
Miles smiled smugly. "The dean is an old friend of mine, of course. And besides, I practically announced Serena to the whole world last night."
Then—
His expression hardened. "How did you get into an accident? Were you driving carelessly?" He probed..
"It wasn’t an ordinary accident." Alexander sighed and recounted the earlier incident right from when he noticed the two sedan cars to when they almost collided with the truck.
Miles listened quietly, and his face darkened. "Who is so bold to go against a member of the Hale and the Blackwood? Are they tired of living?"
"Grandpa, calm down. This is still a hospital, remember." Alexander said. He knew how explosive Miles’s anger was. And he didn’t want it to get out of hand.
Miles snapped out of his anger, before his eyes flashed. "Where is Serena?" He demanded, his eyes narrowed.
"She is in the room." Alexander answered.
Miles suddenly had a bad feeling.
"If you are outside, then why is she inside?" He paused, his voice dropping lower. "Don’t tell me her injuries are more severe than yours?"
Alexander was speechless. This old man really had a... weird way of thinking.
"She’s fine. She only had a concussion and is resting inside." He then added when he noticed the bright look in the old man’s eyes. "You can go in to see her."
Miles didn’t wait for Alexander to say more before he rushed into the room.
Alexander, on the other hand, shook his head softly. The old man was really childish.
Soon, his cheerful countenance changed as he typed in his phone. His brows were drawn together, and his expression taut. It was difficult to read his mind.
After he was done, he looked at his phone, his lips curling as he let out a sneer.
"She is really impatient."
Meanwhile, the grandfather-granddaughter duo had no idea what was going on in Alexander’s mind.
Serena looked at Miles who had taken the seat on the stool beside her, and her lips twitched.
"Grandfather, why are you here? No, scratch that. How are you here?"
"Were you planning on hiding your injuries from me?" Miles asked, his face pulled into a tight frown as he focused on her face.
There was a gauze wrapped around her head, and it was clear that she had suffered an injury to the head.
"I wasn’t planning on hiding it from you." Serena replied softly. "I just didn’t want you to worry about me. You are already old. You should be resting, not worrying about me."
Miles sighed at how understanding she was. He even wondered how much she had to suffer while she was growing up.
He took her hand into his, and said, "you are just like your mom." He laughed, patting her hand softly. "She was always worried about me. But Serena, I just want to let you know that if you have even so much as a little scratch, you can always tell me. I’m your grandfather, and I’ll always be there to console you. That is only if you’d let me."
Serena looked at Miles who made such a huge declaration, and a warm feeling flowed into her heart.
She bit her lips trying to keep the tears which threatened to drop at bay. But she failed... woefully.
Miles noticed the tears in her eyes, and he panicked instantly.
"Hey..." He said softly, rising to his feet as he wiped her tears. But the more he wiped, the more her tears fell. "Don’t cry anymore. I’m here. Grandpa is here."
Serena sniffed. "Thank you Grandpa. It feels great to have someone who is willing to console me even if I had the littlest scratch."
While the duo were consoling one another, Alexander watched them from the window and his expression softened.
"You don’t have to worry, Serena. I won’t let anyone hurt you or anyone you care about." He paused, taking a deep breath. "This peace which you cherish would not be shattered. That’s my word to you."

Grace was seated in her room, calmly sipping on her wine when she received a call.
She grinned widely when she saw the caller ID.
"How is it? Have you finally gotten rid of them? They wouldn’t bother me, right?" She demanded without waiting for answers, her expression a little too eager.
"We have bad news, ma’am." The person on the other line said.
Grace froze, her grip loosening around the glass which caused it to shatter once it dropped to the floor.
She wasn’t even bothered about it as she said calmly. "What did you just say? What bad news?"
"We were unable to get rid of them like you requested. They only got into a minor accident."
"Darn it!" Grace screamed, her hands clenching into fists. "How did fuck did you let them escape?"
"Who escaped?"
