On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 139: Ms. Chloe, You’re So Cool
"I believe you," Claire White said, her tone firm. "I believe there are people who will stop at nothing for personal gain, and I also believe there are good people in the world."
The woman’s expression darkened, her gaze sweeping over the group. "Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. Claire White might fall for your tricks, but I won’t! Get out of here, now. Or don’t blame me for what happens next."
Asher White spoke up. "You’re the one who should leave. You have no right to order anyone around in here!"
The woman retorted, "I’m your legal guardian. No one has more right to be here than me."
Claire White shot back, "I’m an adult now. I don’t need a guardian! And you have no right to meddle in my affairs! Get out! I don’t want to see you!"
"Fine. I can go, but you have to sign this first." The woman pulled a power of attorney form from her bag and held it out to Claire White. "Sign it, and I’ll leave immediately."
Seeing this, Chloe Sterling’s expression hardened. She snatched the form from the woman’s hand, tore it in half, and said coldly, "Get out."
The woman stared at her, stunned. "Who the hell do you think you are?!"
"I’m no one special," Chloe Sterling said, her voice chilling. She abruptly grabbed a fruit knife from the table and pressed it to the woman’s throat. "Just someone who could end your life without a second thought."
The woman jumped, her body instantly freezing. Her face went ashen as she stammered, "Y-You wouldn’t dare! This is a hospital... There are people everywhere outside."
"Want to see if I dare?" Chloe Sterling applied a little more pressure. The cold edge of the blade pressed tightly against the woman’s neck, feeling as if it could break the skin at any moment.
Staring at Chloe’s cold, terrifying face, the woman was genuinely frightened. "Okay, I’ll go, I’ll go! J-Just... put the knife away."
After a moment, Chloe Sterling slowly pulled the fruit knife back.
The woman scrambled backward. "Crazy! You’re completely crazy!" she shrieked as she fled the room.
Inside the room, the siblings, Claire White and Asher White, stared at Chloe Sterling in utter shock, too stunned to speak.
Jean Kensington and Chase Langdon exchanged a complicated look. They knew why Chloe Sterling had snapped—she couldn’t stand irresponsible parents.
Chloe Sterling tossed the fruit knife back onto the table and met the siblings’ shocked gazes. "You have to get tough with people like that," she said calmly. "Words are useless."
Asher White snapped out of his daze and murmured, "Ms. Chloe, you’re so cool." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
’From now on, I have to be like Ms. Chloe,’ he thought. ’I’ll never let anyone bully me or my sister again.’
As if reading the young man’s mind, Chloe Sterling said, "I was just scaring her. Don’t go copying me. We live in a society ruled by law. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, you should always use legal means to solve your problems."
Asher White nodded. "Yeah, I understand."
Chase Langdon said, "Alright, we should let Miss White get some rest. Let’s go."
Chloe Sterling agreed, "Okay."
After saying goodbye to Claire White, Asher White walked the three of them out.
"Master, once my sister is better and out of the hospital, I’ll come find you at the dojo."
Chase Langdon patted his shoulder. "Sounds good. There’s no rush. Just focus on taking care of your sister."
"Have you been taking care of your sister by yourself this whole time? Did you hire a caregiver?" Chloe Sterling asked.
Asher White replied, "We hired a caregiver. She had something to take care of this morning, so she’s coming in a bit later today."
Chloe Sterling nodded. "Okay, that’s good."
’It’s not easy for a boy his age to take care of his sister alone. It’s much better to have a caregiver.’
After leaving the hospital, the three returned to the dojo.
Jean Kensington tapped a punching bag a couple of times and mumbled, "Chloe, you think I should learn how to fight, too? Is it too late for me to start?"
Beside her, Chloe Sterling, who was wearing boxing gloves, slammed heavy punch after heavy punch into another bag. "Probably too late," she said slowly.
Jean Kensington fell silent for a moment. "...Then how about you teach me a few self-defense moves?"
Chloe Sterling stopped and looked at her. "You don’t have the fundamentals, and you don’t have the strength. Even if I taught you self-defense, you wouldn’t be able to use it in a real-life situation. Enchanting Fragrance would be more practical."
Jean Kensington giggled. "Mostly I just think you look so cool when you fight! Why couldn’t you have been born a man? If you were, I’d marry you in a heartbeat!"
From the side, Chase Langdon chimed in, "Hey, I’m a man, and I look cool when I fight, too. How come you don’t want to marry me?"
Jean Kensington turned to look at him. "But you’re not as pretty as Chloe."
Chase Langdon sputtered, "I’m not a woman! I’m ruggedly handsome, thank you very much!"
Jean Kensington chuckled. "Not very humble, are you?"
Chase Langdon laughed. "It’s just a fact, no need for humility. Chloe, you tell her. Isn’t your senior brother handsome?"
Chloe Sterling glanced at him sideways, a small smile playing on her lips. "He is."
「Afternoon.」
Ruby Lynch was having afternoon tea with several other ladies of high society.
A bodyguard suddenly approached and addressed her, "Madam."
Ruby Lynch glanced at the bodyguard, then said to the other women, "Please excuse me for a moment. I’ll be right back."
Ruby Lynch walked over to a secluded corner with the bodyguard. "What is it?" she asked.
"The driver called. He said that girl, Claire White, found a powerful lawyer. They’re adding up all the damages and demanding six million in compensation."
"Six million!" Ruby Lynch sneered. "Her cheap life isn’t worth six million! The nerve of her to ask for so much!"
"So... what are your instructions?" the bodyguard asked.
Ruby Lynch said, "Of course we’re not paying. It’s just a lawsuit, so let her sue. Esther has no competition anymore, and that girl is ruined anyway. We’ll just drag it out."
The bodyguard nodded. "Understood. I’ll let him know."
"Be careful. Don’t get caught," Ruby Lynch warned.
"I understand." The bodyguard departed.
Ruby Lynch returned to her seat and continued to sip her tea leisurely, chatting with the other women as if nothing had happened.
One of the women said, "Oh, by the way, I heard that Orchid Labs has already decided on next year’s limited edition product. They’re expected to send out invitations for the launch celebration next month."
Another lady added, "Yes, I’ve heard that. And this year’s limited edition is especially amazing. I absolutely have to get a bottle this year."
"I believe Mrs. Rivers gets an invitation every year. You have a bottle of this year’s limited edition, ’Enchanted’, don’t you, Mrs. Rivers?"
Ruby Lynch smiled. "I am indeed invited every year, and I did manage to secure a bottle of ’Enchanted’ this year. However, I’ve already given it away, so I’m planning to order next year’s new release as well."
’Even though ’Enchanted’ had caused that unpleasant scene with the Sheffield Family, it hadn’t diminished her love for Orchid Labs. It might just be a bottle of perfume, but it was a symbol of status and power. It was also a collector’s item. Every high-society lady in the Imperial capital wanted one, and she was no exception.’
"Mrs. Rivers, have you already received your invitation? I heard that their elite members get them in advance."
Ruby Lynch’s smile froze for an instant. Although Orchid Labs invited her every year, she wasn’t an elite member yet. She didn’t deny it, quickly recovering her composure with a light laugh. "Not yet. Even if they’re sent out early, it wouldn’t be this far in advance."
