Omniscient Extra's ViewPoint: Supreme Adaptation-Chapter 31: Tour
Chapter 31 - Tour
"So, where are we heading next after this?" Cherry asked, standing in front of the Academy's library with the others.
After spending over an hour exploring the Academy grounds, their first stop was the library.
Cherry wasn't particularly pleased with the choice, but she couldn't argue since everyone else had agreed.
Vorden scowled, glaring at her.
"We haven't even stepped inside yet," he said with clear irritation.
Under his breath, he muttered, "Foolish girl..."
Fortunately, she didn't hear him.
With an exaggerated swing of her arm to show her frustration, Cherry let out a sigh and reluctantly followed the group inside.
The library was massive. Its structure combined traditional architecture with modern advancements, creating an efficient and organised space.
Rows of towering bookshelves, made from reinforced glass and metal, stretched several floors high, stocked with physical books and digital archives.
Suspended holographic screens displayed book indexes, study materials, and real-time availability of resources.
Automated retrieval systems moved along the shelves, pulling out requested books with precision.
Students moved through the floors using floating platforms, while built-in workstations provided access to an extensive digital database.
The atmosphere was quiet but not lifeless.
Groups of students gathered at designated discussion areas, while others worked individually at long, well-lit study tables.
A few academy staff monitored the area, ensuring everything remained orderly.
"So, what are you going to read?" Cherry asked in a weary tone.
"Well, you can stay on the first floor and keep wondering about that. I'm heading to the second floor," Vorden said, turning towards the staircase and walking away, whistling softly.
"...I'll go to the second floor as well," Damien added casually, following Vorden with an unreadable expression.
'Oh great, now they're following each other? Dammit!' Cherry thought, glancing at Luminen, who stood there looking uncertain.
"Well?" she pressed, glaring at him.
Luminen immediately forced a smile before following Cherry as they began exploring the first floor.
...
Vorden and Damien moved through the library, scanning the shelves.
The floating platforms made it easy to reach different sections.

Vorden stopped at a section on warfare and weaponry, selecting Infamous Weapons: A History of the Deadliest Creations.
He had a reason for choosing it but kept it to himself.
Damien picked a book at random, settling on The Art of Silent Execution: A Study on Assassins Through Time.
He flipped through a few pages before deciding it would do.
They found an empty table and sat down.
Vorden flipped through the pages without much interest, skimming for anything useful.
Damien read carefully, taking in every detail.
Neither spoke as they focused on their books.
After spending a long time in the library, they left to explore more of the Academy grounds.
Their first stop was the Combat Training Grounds, a vast open space filled with advanced training dummies and simulated battle environments.
Senior students were sparring, showcasing their skills.
They watched for a while before moving on.
Next was the Alchemy and Research Centre, a high-tech facility where students experimented with potions and materials.
Cherry was intrigued by the equipment, but Vorden dismissed it as unimportant for real combat.
In the Engineering Workshop, they found robotic prototypes, weapon designs, and unfinished projects.
Cherry was, again, immediately drawn to the blueprints, fascinated by the technology on display.
The Aether Dome was a controlled environment designed for testing magical abilities.
Damien, for a bit, tried to interact with the floating mana nodes but was denied access since only authorised students could use them.
They took a brief detour to the Sky Garden, a suspended greenhouse filled with exotic plants from different regions.
Luminen appreciated the serene atmosphere, but Vorden found it dull.
"Boring. Next."
He rolled his eyes as they walked off.
'Bastard!' Cherry screamed in her head.
In the Tactical Simulation Room, students engaged in strategic battle exercises using a holographic training system.
They observed for a while but didn't participate.
The Historical Archive Hall functioned as a museum, displaying the Academy's past achievements, legendary alumni, and famous battles.
Vorden paid little attention to the historical records but found the weapons on display far more interesting.
'I need that energy bow. It would be of significant use in a long range battle.' Vorden thought, staring at the floating energy bow.
The energy bow was constructed from reinforced alloy, with conduits running along its frame to channel concentrated energy.
Instead of a physical string, a stabilised energy field connected both ends, generating a projectile upon activation.
The arrow formed as a condensed energy bolt, its structure adjusting based on charge intensity.
Upon release, it moved at high velocity, leaving a faint ionised trail before striking its target with force.
He intended to steal it soon or, if possible, obtain it through legal means.
If that wasn't an option, then Plan A remained viable and straightforward.
He smirked and walked out with the others.
"Marked."
Their curiosity led them to the Underground Arena, an unofficial duel facility hidden beneath the Academy.
The few second-year students fought in one-on-one matches away from instructors' supervision.
They watched a brief fight before deciding it wasn't worth their time.
Their final stop was the Academy Cinema Grounds, an outdoor space with a massive screen and comfortable seating.
What was meant to be a short break turned into a four-hour stay as they got caught up in the films being played.
By the time they left, night had fallen.
The artificial sun had been turned off, marking the Kingdom's transition to its night cycle.
Curfew in the Academy was set for 10 PM, and by 8:30 PM, most students had already returned to their dorms.
But they weren't like most students.
Vorden insisted on heading to Oppe Hall to test their abilities further and understand their limits.
He needed to see more of them.
The hall was now empty, the hovering spectator seats removed, making it feel different from before.
Cherry quickly located the control tablet, revealing her knack for technology.
Without hesitation, she plugged in her headset, played an upbeat song, and started adjusting the settings.
The first power test chosen by the Squad Leader, Vorden, was one of speed.
A projectile-shooting machine emerged from the ground and powered up.
Energy coursed through it as multiple projectiles were prepared to fire simultaneously.
It had nine barrels.
Cherry set the firing rate to seventeen projectiles per second at Damien's request.
It was reckless, but they were keen to see what he could do.
Damien adjusted his stance and focused on the machine, his eyes locked onto it.
"Start."
